Excellent choices there, many are new to me. I did consider Thaxx, Inverted and Zanzibar. Perhaps I’ll need to do the next top 10. Thanks for sharing these!

@@Play-In-Games you gotta covered inverted dice. It’s innovative Yahtzee.

Great list! I'd replace Yahtzee with Reiner Knizia's 600; more dice, more options and dare I say more strategy than Yahtzee. Additionally, I'd like to make an "obscure" mention of Mice and Men (great for large groups and getting some out of poker chips) and Boss Dice (for an intense 1v1).

Ok these are new to me and I love it! I’m a fan of Knizia, Whowasit? Is one of my all time favorite board games. I’ll check them out, thanks!

An alternative to Liar's Dice, that i have found, is a little game called Indian Chief, yes that is the name of it.
All players get a single six sided dice and roll it then, without looking at the dice, they put it to to their forehead and from there it is just like Liar's Dice except you have to guess the total among the players rather than the amount of a face of the dice.

I play a much shorter version of liar's dice. Starting with an ante going clockwise starting player calls his roll. The next player either believes it and tries to roll a higher number or pops the top to call the player who passed the dice. If the passing player was lying then he antes more to the pot. And the pot caller starts again with his roll and calls it. This continues with each player until the next play pops the passer's top and the dice are true. The passer wins the pot and the game starts all over. It only requires five dice and one cup.

Dice chess where you roll all pieces onto the board and then start. If you have no kings, the goal is extermination of your side, if you have multiple kings either all kings need to be captured or if one king is checkmated you lose.

Two of my favorite games didn't make it to the list - that's Mia and Decathlon. Absolutely agree with having Yahtzee, Farkle and Liar's Dice on the list. My perspective is shifted away from super simple games with only luck involved more to the ones which involve at least some skill. So while I may agree with "Ship, Captain, Crew" being in top 10, I'm not quite for having Bunco or Craps so high in the list.

Great suggestions. I considered Mia but was worried it was too similar to Liars Dice. I didn’t learn about Decathlon until afterwards but it’s a strong contender. Thanks!

@@Play-In-Games I played both Mia and Liar's Dice quite a lot - and they feel very different. They look similar, because dice are hidden in both of them, there is an element of guessing and in both cases the next player can continue or call a bluff.
But Mia is much more about bluffing and deception - each player tries to throw more than an opponent, but he may (and sometimes has to) bluff. And you exactly know your own throw and whether you yourself bluff or not - information is hidden only from your opponent, but not from you.
While Liar's Dice is more about counting possibilities, and I think "Liar's" part of a name is a bit misleading. No one knows the exact throw, because part of information is always hidden to you. There is some bluff to the game, but not nearly as much as in Mia.
Mia is primarily a bluff/psychology game. While Liar's Dice is primarily about probabilities. At least that's how I see them.

There is a playlist of all the dice games by the description and linked in the video. YT has a limit on in video linked videos. I believe it’s about 7, so it just didn’t work for a top 10 list. Feel free to check out the playlist for all of them. Thanks!

My favorite game growing up was always 21 (alternatively “ones”) but I don’t seen ANY info on this game ANYWHERE on the web. Dissapointing as it is a great game with simple rules and can be either a betting game, or a drinking game. (Note I’m NOT talking about “Mexico” or “Mexican dice” which I have seen also called “21. Nor am I talking about “BlackJack” dice)

It was a tough call. A super classic game that’s going to be around forever. Though it’s missing the wide appeal and it’s very low on strategy. I made the video for it right after because I felt guilty about not including it. Perhaps it’ll make the best 10 dice games pt. II 😂
