I also prefer tapered. I use Clover hooks and they're so smooth. I've tried Susan Bates but I can't get used to it. Also, that forest behind you is beautiful. I would love to sit there and craft. Thank you for the video and for sharing that beautiful landscape. 💜

I really dislike Susan Bates hooks. I prefer prym inline and boye tapered
Thank you for this information! As a beginner, I didn't know there were different types of hooks, and have been using tapered this whole time 😅 I like it tho because, as you said, it's much smoother and faster to work with.

I prefer inline but now that I have discovered Clover Amour hooks those are my fav. They are a bit more of a mix between inline and tapered.
I love Clover Amour ones too, I would see them as tapered with the rounded shape.
Those hooks are tapered
They’re tapered but not as tapered as Boye. I never felt comfortable with Boye, but I love the Clover and Tulip hooks.
I like the tapered also.

The mainnthing for everyone, beginner or not, is that a hook and yarn go perfectly together. Mostly the size suggested on a yarn label is fine.
But for a beginner I think it is best to avoid both too small and too large hooks. I would say 4 mm is best, or 5 mm.

TEAM TAPERED FOR LIFE!!! (I use in line sometimes, but only in a pinch)
Most of my hooks are inline. Before I realized the difference, I had once grabbed a tapered hook and some yarn from a store when I was unexpectedly away from home overnight. I couldn't figure out why I kept dropping the yarn! 😂
I used to swear by Susan Bates hooks, which are inline until I switched to the Tulip Etimo hooks. I’ve never looked back.
I'm fine with either inline or tapered. As long as the hook part is not too shallow and doesn't have "cheeks" that stick out. That's why I hate Boye hooks. The hook portion is so shallow it barely holds the yarn at all, and the sides have round outwards instead of smoothly tapering down. Susan Bates are my favorite metal hooks. I like Clover Amour, but feel they are too pricey and Pryms are comparable enough they are a better value.
I own and have used both for the 20+ years I've been crocheting, and inline helps me crochet faster. For me, the longer tip means less dropped stitches when working in a quick rhythm, and I notice no difference in hand movement or strain when using inline vs tapered. What I prefer most about the inline are the pointed heads for tighter stitches! I don't like a loose tension at all. It appears "sloppy" to me. You are correct! No right or wrong. 😊 Just personal preference.
Yes, everyone needs to find what works for them, and it depends a lot also on how you hold the hook and yarn.

I love tapered ! I have tried inline. I don't like them, my stuff is loose, it doesn't sit right, or look good...I don't like them I don't like them I don't like them!

I had only ever seen tapered and I had super difficulty getting stitch tension consistent. Pretty much gave up on crochet. When I discovered inline hooks I gave one a try and holy cow what a difference. My stitches were amazing and consistent.the two swatches from the different hook types were worlds apart in quality.

I prefer tapered hook even though I am a beginner
I think I have no preference. Maybe cause most of my hooks are somewhere in-between, so I'm kinda used to both.
I don't like the size N tapered hook, though. The only M size hook I ever found was an in line. I can do OK with that cause it's so big and fat and You use size 5 or 6 yarn or 3 or 4 smaller weight strands of Yarns. I've learned other ways to control my tension so that my stitches sit upright and one of the legs isn't too much longer than the other 1 and so on and so forth.

Im looking for an ergonomic crochet hooks, but the Amazon shipping cost to my country is above $30 😔 Im frm Mauritius.
No, Clover Amour hooks are Japanese and sold over much of the world. I don't know where it would be best to order them for you, Amazon India? Or France, I don't know, but check around with Amazon in various countries if there is no other online store that would send to you cheaper. But need to check customs too. I know I order only inside the EU now unless something isn't available in any EU country because of the customs.

I need to come lay on the hammock and crochet.
Im very new to crocheting like fresh new here and im just wondering if i have the right hook like my hook is sized 6.0mm and i use regular yarn and when i watch tutorials i always see them used much thinner hook than mine, im just wondering if im doing it wrong? Should i change to a thinner sized hook? What size should i get?
Each yarn needs a hook that goes with it. Mostly the band on a ball of yarn says what size is recommeded.Size 6 is for chunkier yarns. Size 4mm goes with many of the finer yarn but not thin ones.

Nearly all my hooks are tapered, but I actually much prefer inline. My stitches end up quite tight when I use tapered.
I started with tapered, experimented with in-line, found that I liked tapered more

I don't think I have seen that. Maybe those who print hooks with a 3D printer make ones like that.

Which size yarn do i use for puffy/ fluffy yarn?
In most cases it is best going with what the yarn band suggests. There are so many thicknesses of fluffy yarns so the hook size can vary hugely from about 6 mm up to 12 mm at least.

@@TuulaMaaria i tried googling it in russian and found literally nothing. i guess we dont make that distinction since we dont even have a word for it. i just examined all my hooks and all of them are tapered (i mainly have metal hooks, but my wooden and plastic ones are tapered as well). when i go to the store for yarn next time i will look at the hooks to see if they are all tapered as well, but to be honest i m pretty sure they will be because i became obsessed with this and started watching videos and scrolling websites and on the english side of the internet i met some inline hooks (not that much though) and on the russian side i saw zero.
