My grandsons call me paw paw so the fact that you made this video cracks me up... and THANKS TO YOU, since I am not mechanically inclined, this thing is coming together so far. The half hour build, well, I'm on my 3rd day of 2 hours each, going over your video with a fine tooth comb. Can't thank you enough 'brother mine'...
Interesting side note, when you said check the squareness, at first I measured wrong and had 91.4 cm and 90cm, so I checked with chagpt which told me the result of that offset would make a 4x4x4 inch cube into a 4x4x3.94 cube... which CAN be adapted for in software (that's what I do), but fortunately they were both 91.4 as properly measured.
Either that or I have a tremendous imagination.
GREAT video my friend, just awesome. Can't thank you enough.
Good morning 🌅, that was a great territorial, on the upgrade, I am hoping to purchase one of these machines as a Christmas present for myself later in the year as I can not use my hands properly at the moment, thank you once again for sharing, from France.
Excellent upgrade installation, PawPaw. Clear and concise instructions. Look forward to the next project using this new upgrade. Have an awesome day! Thanks again. 👍🏻😊
Thank you! I appreciate your comment. Thank you so much for visiting my channel
Tip to get those green screwhead covers in nicely - place one over the hole, place the PVC card you're given (or any other rigid bit of material) and tap lightly with a hammer.
That's a great idea! Thank you
Great video as always! Thanks for sharing this assembly video step-by-step! Can't wait to see your next project!
Thanks for watching! Thank you very much for everything
@foxalien_offical you should make a Version that has allready linear rails.
After much run time, you begin to notice some back cutting. The dampers between the ball screws and servo motors will need replacing.
Yes. That’s definitely possible
Thanks for the video. Is there space between the back plate and gantry to sit a 16mm ball screw?
First of all I want to say thank you for the video! Do you think you could possibly mill some aluminum or cold rolled steel as a test for accuracy?
Thank you very much. Working with metal in a woodworking shop is very rare. I do not stock any metal.
Thank you for making such a clear demo on how to do the upgrade! I am totally new to CNC but in the process of finding which one to start a hobby. Do you know if FoxAlien XE-Pro sells one that already has the linear rail? It seems quite a waste to buy one and immediately replace it with a new rail. Thanks in advance!
There are larger machines that have the linear rails. FOXAlien allows for the entry level folks to get started and the machine will work just fine. However, as your productivity increases you can upgrade to the linear rails
great review...but did it make a big difference?.....you said you were going to do a project with the foxalien since the upgrade.....dont see and video on your site....sooooo....whats up on the upgrade?.........big difference....minimal difference?.....worth it?
The biggest difference is more stable and less slop. Anything to do that eliminates wheels and belts from any CNC is an improvement. Wheels get dirty and out of round. Belts on CNC machines stretch. This upgrade accomplishes this.
@@PawPawsWorkShop thanx for replying back so quickly...love your explanation of details to adjust, as cnc's and upgrades are never really plug n play....built my own with acme screws and c-beam 6 yrs ago....did the rubber wheel route, which has survived the test of time...repeatablilty is incredible...
Did anyone else get an upgrade kit where the linear rails are apparently identical, except 2 come in a green plastic cover and 2 in a clear plastic cover - and the part numbers on the sliders are 1 digit different?
The green covers are caps for the rails. Did support help resolve your issue?
@@PawPawsWorkShop I fitted the linear rails anyway; I noted in your video that the ones you fitted to the Y axes came in a green wrapping so I did the same. I ran into another issue though, when dissembling the Y axes - Y1 only had 2 of the 4 screws with washers (I bought the linear rails at the same time as the XE Pro so it's never run)
It looks like you have a FoxAlien Vatso there as well. After the Linear rails upgrade on the XE-Pro, how do you find their performance compares?
I just ran a project using oak and it did an excellent job
@@PawPawsWorkShop nice. Do you feel that with the upgrade the XE-Pro is on the same level of performance as the Vasto? Or is the Vasto’s construction still more rigid and accurate?
