It's July now, and last time I checked they had dropped the price all the way down to $177,000 AUD. The cheapest ones for sale as I type this are about $166,000 AUD. So in 6 months, a $210,000 AUD car has lost $50,000 AUD in value, and keep in mind these cars have no more than like 5,000 km on them!
Does any review actually mention for how long the battery pack can sustain hooning around? Can it do 2-3 launches back to back? Can it maintain performance on a 10 minute spirited drive? Also, it seems that BMW didn't do much better of a job with new M5 :D
Seems like BMW and Mercedes took opposite approaches to electrification. BMW chose to use electrification to homologate a modification of their S68 V8 engine, and in turn added just enough hardware and functionality to create some "electrified" benefits. Mercedes seems to have tried to package an electric drivetrain into an existing model and added in what amounts to an ICE generator system to fill in the limitations. Two powertrains struggling to work simultaneously and therefore cancelling out one another's benefits. The Mercedes has problems similar to their EQS/EQE offerings; they chose to go all in as fast as possible on electrification and diversifying electric platforms instead of gradually phasing electrified technology into specific model lines that can benefit from having an expanded product range and allow early adopters to test new technology. We've all seen the drawbacks of the huge investment of tooling all new platforms and marketing an all new product line. In hindsight, electric S class and E class variants should have been based on existing platforms. The S63 E- performance makes sense given the weight and breadth of functionality (one car to rule them all, and be desirable at that) - but a platform as small as the W206 is at its limits with this powertrain. Hopefully the next gen W224 S class and W215 E class vehicles will use platform commonality to leverage a careful metering into the elimination of ICE, not hedge all engineering efforts like what they chose.

Amg C45 S does 0 to 60 in 4 seconds. AMG C63 S E 0 to 60 in 2.9 seconds. So basically they are not the same cars. SMH LOL
If they called this car anything else, but a c63, I think nobody would have given a shit. But it's a bad c63.
I’ve had three C63s, a 507 with the 6.2L and 2 x 205s (a coupe and sedan) and I am not remotely interested in this thing. I moved to BMW M division. Mercedes, are you listening to actual buyers?
WHY MERC DIDN'T MAKE IT ELECTRIC ONLY. WHY THEY SPOILED AND PUT A V4?!!!!
The set of cars I now like enough to part with my own money is becoming smaller and smaller. Back in the day i'd be happy to blow months if not years worth of salary on some idiotic car, because it stirred the emotions so much. If they think traditional petrol heads are going to care about this guff they are flat out wrong. It's either older stuff / back catalogue, or find another hobby frankly.
Yes yes yes
Its a gti
I'd genuinely take a Taycan over a 4 cylinder AMG
They do not compete against each other. SMH LOL
I'm pretty sure the next c63 will have a V8 again
Might be fully electric by then.
The car: "a couple years ago, man, I was hot. Now... I'm a cautionary tale"
Next thing we'll have a Ferrari or a Lamborghini with a 4 pot! 4 cylinder cars just don't sound great. 3 pots arguably more characterful. Augmented sound is horrid. It sounds like its played with a synthesiser. Why are we so far off being able to do a decent engine sound. I actually think we were closer with need for speed porsche edition back in early 2000s. Even Forza 5 and gran touismo cars sound mediocre. Still a long way off
M3>
W204 is the only true c63.... the rest shouldn't wear the badge.
If it’s not a V8 it’s not a real AMG
That's bullshit. I guess the A45S and CLA45S, two absolutely amazing little cars, "aReNt aMgS" purely because of the amount of cylinders their engines have. Yeah, nah.
@@jamestorrens645 43, 45, 53 not real AMG. V8 63 = real AMG
That is wrong. The first AMG post-merger was an inline 6. You kids are clueless.
@@Monaco377 Exactly!
Both sucks best 204 6.2 NA !❤
The 4cyl sucks! Old V8 is WAY better! The original 6.3l V8, even better.
Bring back the v8 or amg will lose among competitors. Its simple
The engine aside, the exterior of the older one is miles better than the newer one😂
Really? I think they look almost identical.
@@wasdwasdwwasd nah bro the older one is the perfect blend of agressiveness and elegant, the front of the new one is not that bad but the rear is a major disappointment
I'm on the opposite side, I love the look of the new one.
Surprisingly enough you have a girlfriend
What a shame...
What a shame... 0 to 60 in 2.9 seconds. SMH LOL
@@softroseforyou7457 0 to 60 means nothing mate
All the way wrong. Merc has lost its way. The quality is bad, their future cars are all wrong. It's sad really
That beautiful V8 of the C63 being replaced with a 4 cylinder hybrid will never work
It’s lipstick on a pig
Did you say upgrading relating to Will's car, James? You have that completely the wrong way around!
This video incorrectly assumes the premise that someone actually would (or did) buy the new C63.
your the boss ??
Only London drug dealers drive these stupid things anymore.
Nobody understood the concept of the new c63s. Yeah v8 sounds better but amg can not build v8 for the next 100 years. So there was a need to change it. They came up with the 4cyl hybrid. Dont get me wrong it has not the same emotions but techbology wise the new c63 is a great car. Its faster than the m3/4 you can drive it in ev mode in tehe city for short distances also.
If bmw would came up with a4cyl nobody would care. But with amg it always cares because everyone want only a v8. We need to let the v8 go.
The new car is a failure, it’s as simple as that.
@@jamsxr it is not. Mercedes gained already experience with the hybrid tech. Bmw will come up also with hybrid solutions in the future.
No one is buying it.
@@oxidalpha6350 yes but they don’t seem to have sold many and the reviews are all poor.
@@jamsxr they never will sell lots of these. Only if bmw and audi switch also to a 4cylinder.
NO...Hahahahaa
who wants speed only he should pick tesla. why should I buy an icon for speed. it became a beast without teeth 😢
Because this does have sound and Tesla doesn't
Chocking on my sand here 🫠
