Hey Spencer… id like to thank you for being one of the guys that inspired me to get into tree work. I’m 15 I climb now and I’m doing pretty good stay safe out there man
Wow, cool to hear from you buddy! Sounds like a good time in life to be climbing ... exciting! Go slow, cut small, and don't climb those sketchy trees my friend! haha ... hang in!
Got to love the truck winch! Always fun hearing branches break when you’re right under the tree too... 😉
dang that sound of breaking overhead freaked me out! woah!
First job: Worthy of a high-fallutin' "Shack Rescue Program"!
Thinking positively: lack of ventilation can promote mould (mold?) so open doors and windows in a high moisture area is probably a good call by the owner. 🤔 😁
Good on ya. Getting it done!
There was a strong smell of mildew coming out of that cabin -- so I think you're right. That airflow probably saved the place. Shack rescue! haha
I love the view on that first place. I don't blame them for not tearing the building down yet.
yeah it's a treasure: great location and total simplicity. could use a bit of TLC though :)
Nice work, brother. I've been tempted to get one of those hitch mounted winches. I've turned down a few jobs that would have been doable with help from a winch. Blessings brother.
yeah I've got winches on both trucks and use them all the time ... there are definitely other ways to pull but 12k is hard to beat
Excellent work. All the way around. Thanks for sharing the story of how you got it done.
It's Dan! Man, that oak y'all took down the other day was an absolute BEAST. What a tree!
Enjoyed the video. Great job taking out the leaners over the cabin. That little skidder really works great. Nice work.
Thanks buddy -- yeah always nice to have room for the skidder out there :) Weather is getting better as are the jobs
Insane skills Spencer also super sketchy creek cliffside as always awesome video my dude i always learn something new
At the end of the day I was like "On the plus side, I didn't tumble over the waterfall" :)
Boots ordered . Awesome video my friend. ❤
oh cool to hear! I hope ya like them
very tricky job. well done on sorting that one out. the cabin is cool. needs a touch of work though... just a tad...
maybe a coat of paint? haha ... you probably couldn't tell in the vid but it was also sloping a lot toward the ravine
Loader is really coming in handy, as is the winch on the truck! Awesome!!
Yeah you said it ... nice having that equipment out there
What a strange property. It reminds me of times gone by. Like what I'd imagine the middle class of the 1920s would dream about having as a summer cottage. Or maybe someone got inspired by Dick Proenneke back in the 70s but didn't want to leave the lower 48 states.
Yeah it has kind of haunted me since being there ... something about the combination of the amazing location and all that decay. Around here there aren't too many of those little lake cabins left because they keep getting torn down so new MEGA houses can be built
@@metaspencerThe old style and way of life eroding away, nearly out of view of the newer modern houses nearby. That seems to be the aesthetic of the whole Finger Lakes region, maybe even the whole Midwest. Regardless, nice work in a tight spot. I know the pain of slipping on slopes of still-frozen leaves and wet clay multiple times in a row lol
Great work. I’m slowly building my business for clean ups etc. I have a 1 ton dump truck and utility tractor. The mini skid looks more versatile for sure. I’m looking for a winch for my truck currently. Which one do you have? Thanks for the videos and stay safe!
Sounds like an exciting time! I also have used a tractor out there and it's great for lifting heavy stuff, but not all that maneuverable. I have one truck with a front winch (this one, but an older model: amzn.to/4953CHA) that I have mounted on a front hitch. The winch in this video is a Rough Country (this one: amzn.to/496AEqR) and mounted inside the bumper. Either way works for me, honestly ... the dang things just pull, especially once you get some snatch blocks in the mix and mechanical advantage. Just keep doing great work and it'll grow
I'm wondering how high the sides are on your truck? might be too high for a mini skid to get stuff up and in there
Wow.. no tree on the roof.
Mother nature gives crazy puzzles. Throwball challenge for sure. Is it still snowing there?! Crazy.
Nice work as usual. Stay safe
Snowed again last night -- when will it stop!? All is good, though ... I think I saw a daffodil coming up yesterday
@@metaspencer just another month & it’ll be over.
Great job as always.
How the Holzfforma G111 running?
Do you plan a review video of it? Or just a show off?
I've only used that saw on a few jobs but it's been solid so far ... I definitely plan to work up review :) I was thinking it would be as powerful as the 200t but it's not quite up there
@@metaspencer Thank you!
I hope the review comes soon. ;)
Old man winter still hanging around , cool old camp on the water , excellent job young chap , spring is near !!
Yeah a little frosty out there still! Thanks for swinging by and dropping a comment :)
You have a knack for mitigating the risks on some sketchy jobs
Knock on wood … always something out there waiting to get ya
Great work as usual, Spencer❣️
big thanks!
Were those hemlocks at the first cabin? I’m seeing a lot of them dying off over here. We got 15” of white stuff here today.
there is some kind funky white fungus taking them out over here. I'm forgetting the name of it ... woolly adelgid maybe? Anyway yeah, we're losing some but I'd still say it's a small percentage
15" !!!! woah! we just got 2" of snow and as much ice
We ended up with 18” plus an inch of rain. Yeah I had all the hemlock cut except a 2 acre patch of some really big old warriors. Hopefully oak, sugar maple and pine regenerate there.
Brilliant video Spencer.
Big thanks! Much appreciated ... I love that there are always surprises out there
Bro you need a throw line cube!!!
The knot cube? I can never make them work without jumbling up the line
@@metaspencer haha
Cube is necessary….pretty much illegal to have a mini skid and not a cube…at least use a laundry basket
@@laneherrlinger7478haha or bucket. Dunno why but cubes always led to knots for me. Maybe I’ll have to try another one
That one tree was pretty scary.
oh yeah! never a dull moment
I think there are a lot if those semi abandoned summer cottages in that area. Nice work on a challenging job
I've seen a few converted into modern monsterpieces ... kinda cool to see the old ones still standing
New truck?
yah got it last fall ... been working out
Love that mini skid!
thanks buddy. it's been a good one
I love the use of the winch.
yeah it's got some great pulling power
The wind is money! Nice work.
What a great phrase! so true
