Irem actually made a TON of really good games, and a bunch of those guys later formed Nazca (Metal Slug fame), which is why In The Hunt looks so familiar. They really were quite miserly on this offering. They could have easily doubled the amount of games & had some of their later bangers on there, like Gunforce 2, Undercover Cops, Ninja Baseball Batman, & R-Type Leo.
2:47 I felt the same way but I found out holding down the attack button charges up a megaman style ranged attack, it made the game a bit more exciting.
On the football game - reviewer has no idea how to play this game. Rather not based on luck, its based on total skill. The key is see the defense - and then decide how to get your receiver open. This is done by throwing sideways to your running back, who now becomes your QB - giving you time, and movement to do what you want - namely finding the receiver. There are so many nuances to this game, like a chess game, brilliant, brilliant game.
If I have no idea how to play it, then neither do the majority of other people new to it. Teaching the user how to play a game is part of good game design.
You also have to use the laterals to the two side running backs who can then throw to the receiver to take full advantage of 10 Yard Fight. It doesn't make the game fun but at least makes it a touch more playable. I'd also recommend trying the block/charge shot in Lightening Swords for a better attack and to survive longer but it sounds like that may not make a difference for you. In the Hunt is the pride and joy of this cart but I feel like this cart was solely intended as the pack in and feels similarly crappy to me as the Technos 1 arcade cart that came with the basic VS. It's nice to get a few games included but easily some of the worst carts available on the Evercade.
I have enjoyed all the games on here, R-type being my favourite. I like to challenge myself as to how far I can get on just one credit. I had never played Mr Heli(battle chopper) before but it is so tough and fun. 10 yard fight is a game I have played a lot of, when you want to pass the ball look for the guys with their hands up and the direction you are facing. Try not to pass across a scrum(I don't know the Americanism for this) so out of a scrum I would pass to left or to the right then let him run up the pitch a little and the guy In the distance should put his hand up and if all clear you can make the pass.
I managed the throw on 10 yard fight the first time, but then it got blocked the next hundred and broke me as a person. I don't think I could go back to it

I mean, they're not exactly Capcom or Namco now are they, they're pretty niche as far as Japanese game companies go
R-Type was rreleasef on most if not every computer/ console going, good video btw.
