To those who watches Mediacorp Channel 8 25 years ago will know that this estate is being used as the backdrop and filming for one of the most iconic sitcom show 敢敢做个开心人
Fun fact! My mom says these 4 blocks were originally planned to be built in Simei, in reference to the Four Great Beauties in Chinese history. Simei literally means 4 beauties after all. However, the blocks ended up in Tampines instead. In the past, the government would build HDB flats before letting people ballot for them. The BBQ is very underused though, I have never seen them used before. The basketball courts were definitely used a lot in my childhood. In the past, the playground used to have swings and sand pits too. I remember going there a lot as a kid. The estate is relatively well connected because the bus stop is right before the expressway. I always walk through the estate to the buses since my estate is not as connected.
thanks for featuring my neighborhood ghib. these blocks together with block 498 is in the concept of Design and Build Scheme. they are unique in their home design
@@tssnmm oh you're right, but i definitely remember it was featured in one of the mediacorp sitcoms. can't remember which one. Maybe something in ch 8.
I was like, "How come so familiar this place? Look like Tampines." Lol.. It's my childhood place where I used to hang out at the playground when I was 9 years old. It brought back so much memories especially the time I play with my best friend who I have lost contact with since. 😢 It was back in 1998 where I explored this area as a kid. My parents stay abit further so me and my friend walk all the way here. So much memories 🥺
I was here for the first time yesterday night and felt like I had entered another world. The architecture is so different and beautiful. The lightings here are ambient and subtle.
check out Bukit Purmei with a small little hill in the estate, with 4-5 public bbq pit, a soccer court, basketball court, exercise corner... quite lovely too
Hi Ghib, wow what a beautiful HDB there, n the inside was very big, wow you can beat the boys with arm wressling,, i feel like they let you win Ghib hahhahaha,, or maybe you are stronger 😀,; Thks for the vlog Ghib,, 楽しいかった😅。。👍😇
Singapore is growing and modernizing every year, with new upgrades, as compared to Japan and Taiwan that have stagnant for the past 40 years. My brother showed me a photo, taken 40 years ago at a subway station in Tokyo that looked exactly the same. At least they are better than London that stagnant for century.🤣🤣
Lol, I live across from this nice HDB. I always though this HDB is way too nice to a normal HDB, but I remember a few of my secondary school friends lives there.
Singapore local movie I not stupid 2 iconic song was filmed there also. Singapore iconic sitcom drama 敢敢做个开心人 Don't Worry Be Happy used this place as the background also.
I love Goodview Gardens estate near Bukit Gombak MRT station. They are just standing next to Bukit Gombak Park, the air is very fresh in the morning as the whole estate is next to the hill link to xiao guilin.

ghib! especially loved this episode because of the warmth of meeting with your viewers. hope to see more!
This was the ‘poster’ estate of HDB back in the late 90s, as the most modern looking architecture to showcase quality HDB flats.

My old neighbourhood! So many good memories. Thanks for this video Ghib.
My old estate!! We stayed in a 5 room executive, corner unit - miss the spaciousness that my previous Bishan flat afforded 😢

Unfortunately these flats are beside one of the worst roads in SG with horrible traffic jams every morning and evening.
Hhib..really like this video..thank you
Hey, Ghib OJISAN. Good morning to you from Hong Kong 🇭🇰. You uploaded your videos so early in the morning, or rather late last night 😆😆😆😆😆😆👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
It reminds me of The Pinnacles condominium at Tanjong Pagar!!!
He should take u to Tampines mart … spoil for choices in food 🍱, 5 minutes walk if u take short cut
😘🥰😍😇
My brother used to live there.

I stay very closer to this block . We have Big court , exercise equipment and good place for walk .

Don't worry be happy ❤
Ghib..you so funny..at the void deck
You can check out Punggol Grove, the only hdb with access gate. It's one of the uniquely hdb in sg.
You don't get those HDBs now...those are in the early 90s...
some danchi look like our hdb as well , not just the block , the surrounding around the block as well.
The disadvantage of it being close to the airport ... if try to catch a taxi home from the airport, the taxi driver uncle will be face black black 😄
The Power Of Jippun Lang LOL
Crazy hahaha😂 fun vlog
great to see singaporeans so prosperous with million dollar homes. :)
Very Nice
Like your videos very much ❤❤❤
Hello ghib
That is why it is called void deck......void of people.
Old Estate ! Coming to 40 years ! 😅
Sadly, HDB used to build nice flats with very affordable price!
caleb so handsome can intro ? www x))

Haha complains about the sugar on Evan's plate being unhealthy but then proceeds to eat a huge chicken rice.

On my 1st visit to Singapore, I didn't pronounce Tampines the way the Singaporeans do. 😁
where is this?
Tampines
確かに外観はいかにもやけど中は意外と普通やん。
Looks like prison

Omg i live here !
So nice and interesting video
