There are some chips which seem to have all the requirements but aren't officially supported. You might have heard that consumer 7th gen chips aren't supported (although 7th gen xeons are), but that's not strictly true. There's Microsoft Surface laptop that has a 7th gen consumer cpu, and funny thing, THAT cpu is officially supported in Windows 11. So it might be that 7th gen consumer chips actually DO have all of the hardware requirements, they definitely have TPM 2.0 After all, there are officially supported xeon chips that are almost identical to consumer versions and those xeons are supported. For instance the i9-7900X is almost the same processor as the xeon w-2150. I installed Windows 11 on an unsupported 7th gen laptop, it got the latest version of Windows 11 and it's getting minor updates. Whether it will get a major feature update, I don't know. But since it has tpm 2.0 I suspect it will. By the way, the way Windows 11 installed, it didn't even uninstall the existing programs, it UPDATED even though I had to download an ISO and use that.
I did upgrade to Windows 11 on unsupported PC and yes you can get an updates! I already did the Windows Update today and everything is good! Microsoft is LYING!
it's a way too for them to say is not their fault if they remove something from windows 11 and don't boot up after a update, as was unsupported hardware or out of date as they don't have to fix or update any older unsupported hardware if down the line there was a exploit or a really bad bug they don't have to fix it in windows 11
I put 11 on unsupported hardware and i am getting updates ... though i cant say how many as i never checked but when i looked now it said i was up to date last check was yesterday . I have had 6 cumulative updates since mid October when i installed it ..i upgraded to the latest version at that time . That includes 3 driver updates and 2 other updates ... so how would i get those if was using unsupported hardware ? this machine is 14 years old now a HP Probook 5610 ...but i am changing to a Lenovo L31 soon (3 years old) which i bought for 15GBP on E Bay as it had a locked bios ... fortunately i unlocked it using a couple of tricks i learned .
I'm not worry I moved to Linux for a long time ago, I can see good reason why people won't move to Linux I don't blame them and it's up to them but Microsoft it's going to do what they want as long people stuck using them and can't break the windows habbit.
Do NOT use Windows 7 online on a computer your network devices trust or that you have any important data on. It will get viruses without you doing anything wrong
I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.
I've been a Windows user since 1985. With that said, no one has given me more reasons to consider a move to Apple than Microsoft.
linux is also a good option but it depends on your requirements from a os.
lol from trash to trash. go install linux ffs

They want you to buy a new, and expensive, computer.

It's probably just that they're warning users that some updates may not be compatible if they have unsupported hardware.
One would hope. I have to update both my parents PCs this year.
I'm using Windows 11 pro on an unsupported device, and I don't have the ability to download or install updates anymore.

That's evil favouritism.

Won't be 'entitled' is NOT the same as won't receive.
If windows 10 stays at 60%+ after the EOL, will they fold and extend the support?
if they force no updates then the registry hack that had updates wont so this is a bad change
Update will happen it is only major updates which you might need to do a fresh install with bypass....
Why allow unsupported installs now and then not allow updates? So dumb

It’s time for Linux to prevail! AS THE SUPERIOR OPERATING SYSTEM!
Linux is not an operating system. It‘s just a loose kernel, also used in Android for example.
