Teak wood can age and discolor over time. In this video, John will show you how to clean teak wood with a complete teak wood care kit from Star Brite. Once we get the cleaning out of the way, John will show how to restore your teak wood with a brightener followed by a teak wood oil. The great part? The cleaner, brightener, and oil all come in the same kit.
The first two parts of the process, the cleaner and brightener, can all be completed at the same time one after another. Then, you’ll need to be patient and allow the wood to completely dry before applying the oil.
We’re demonstrating the process on a beautiful teak wood box containing a World War II-era compass that was a Talley family heirloom.

I have proudly used these Starbright products for more than 10 years now. I strongly urge folks to use them. However, while the cleaner and brightener work well to clean up exterior teak, just know you will be undertaking the project again next year.
That said, while I continue to use the brightener and cleaner on my sailboat's exterior teak, I have moved on to Cetol instead of teak oil. It lasts longer and reapplying it as a pigment means no Step 1 or Step 2 is required.

It’s a good product. I’ve used it on my 2012 Chris Craft Launch 20 and it did a pretty fair job. Having said that, my teak trim and swim deck were so dry it took 3 coats of oil after the cleaner and brightening did their work.

Can you varnish it after applying the oil?

After all that cleaning & scrubbing then rinsing. It looks like the grail raised as water soaked in. The teak oul clorh sounds scratchy on the wood surf.
When is best time to sand the surface smooth or is no protective varnish surface being added?
