If you notice at 16:05 and 16:15, even the Wii and Nintendo Switch render the Electro Dash waves incorrectly. The waves are supposed to have a green tint when not overlaid on another wave, and yellow when it is. Wii and Nintendo Switch incorrectly render it all yellow. Wii U renders it incorrectly the other way, it is green all the way with no yellow.
Very good comparison, I never would have thought there would be so many weird quirks about the ports of this game. I'm wondering if it's something to do with retro gaming or if it's at all similar to 343 porting the Original Halo games to Xbox via the Master Chief Collection and those titles having various quirks and bugs
It’s probably caused by the emulator they use for each console, but some differences could be intentional. The lower framerate in the Chapter 5 boss on NSO could have been put in by Nintendo.
I'd say N64 version is still best version. Of the official re-releases, I would say Wii VC despite having more framerate drops than even the N64 version. It does emulate certain effects that the Wii U and NSO versions don't. NSO version did have the game crash in certain areas that have been apparently fixed in an update. It still does have that weird issue where the framerate during the Chapter 5 boss fight and pause menu is lowered. This version would be in second. Wii U doesn't have any noticeable framerate drops, But it has the dark filter applied by default, with some audio issues, and also more noticeable input lag. (Wii U VC does allow button remapping, unlike NSO). Probably would be either tied for second or a close third.

Agreed. I actually enjoy finding out about all these weird differences.
Are all these differences by choice or is the effect caused by the emulator that Nintendo is using?

In conclusion what is the best version to play in your view?
