    Perhaps rather than the rebellious Miku being "Cinderella" and the cautionary one being "Juliet", it's the other way around? After all, the original Juliet WAS the sort of rebellious girl dreaming of romance that Miku's character aspired to be, and it was precisely this rebellious nature and refusal to tell her parents about her relationship with Romeo until it was too late that helped cause Romeo & Juliet's tragic ending. Cinderella, meanwhile, only really intended to go to the ball, and it never seemed to occur to her that she could leave her stepfamily until the prince came knocking. It's a bit odd that they'd be inverted like that.
    Of course, considering how the whole time Miku's character is denying that she'll have the same fate as Juliet and is surely a Cinderella all while making the same mistakes the original Juliet did (and most likely did NOT have a happy ending, given how this and Romeo and Cinderella end), the personality swap could be appropriate. It shows just how much Miku's character lacks self-awareness in her relationship that she misses the point of both stories.

    Also just now learning that one of my favorite songs has a sequel-
    I haven't seen a mention of my immediate interpretation (though I can't see the translators thoughts anymore) so I figured I'd add to the discussion. First thing to say is that though I love the og, as I get older I notice more and more the problems their relationship has and our skewed perception since its told through the eyes of a young girl in love. Being in a good handful of unhealthy relationships and one that was significantly worse than the rest, the song became sad not because of their love being "forbidden", but because of the relationship itself. I could go on, but the point of saying that is that this song feels like the response I've always wanted. Immediately to me "Juliet" represents the abusive/manipulative/unhealthy relationship and also the voice in her head giving her reasons to not leave him. She doesn't know anything else and gave up so much for it. I think this is hard for people that haven't been in a relationship like this, but I also know a lot of people will know what I'm talking about. Cinderella has been Miku all along, but she's chasing the wrong fairytale. In the end when she finally says goodbye its bittersweet because she did >love< him and she loves that part of her that loved him. Especially when you know nothing else it's easy to feel a trauma attachment of sorts to the relationship even if its unhealthy. I think its very beautiful that she says she did really love him since that's a feeling that helped me start to move forward as well-knowing that your feelings were true then and its okay that you need to move on. I could already go on and on about this song holy shit. I will leave with that paragraph though

      Doriko mentioned that Romeo and Cinderella's lyrics were inspired by folklore about good kids if that adds anything new.

      In many wikipedia interpretations many would consider Cinderella to be her childish desire to have a happy endings despite defying her parents and Juliet as the one who wants to be either her parents. If that helps, I like interpretations of this song.

  • @FreedomSylph
    @FreedomSylph 5 ปีที่แล้ว +91

    ty for your interpretation of the song! The interpretation is mainly the same as mine
    and also at the last part, Miku doesn't want Juliet to disappear because as in the original story, Romeo should've been with Juliet, not anyone else. So Juliet disappearing would mean she would only become Cinderella, with no connection to Romeo

      KHTunaZCG You know the first song, right. Where she is alternating between being Juliet and Cinderella? She's afraid of a tragic romance like Juliet's but she's lied too much too, like Cinderella and either way a happy ending won't be waiting for her. This sequel is her sorting out her mess.
