There are a couple moves I always make in Franchise this year. If I'm looking to win the cup in the second year I always pick up William Karlsson as an RFAT with an offer sheet. You can get him at 5.9 million for 6 years meaning you only give up a first and a third. You get an 85 overall, medium elite centre who usually gets to 86 overall by the time he hits 27. If you're gonna win the cup your first rounder isn't gonna be worth much anyways and the third isn't really a big deal. There are two really amazing prospects that start on the trade block in the first year. Nashville has Eli Tolvanen and Toronto has Timothy Liljegren. Tolvanen is a great winger prospect and Nashville starts with a pretty wide trade block interest. You can trade pretty much anything of value you don't want or need to them for Tolvanen, and then use him to make trades that wouldn't go through with what you traded for him. This leads into Liljegren, who is probably the most consistent defense prospect I've seen early. I've never seen him below 87 by the end of the second year, and you can make some clever multi-trade moves to acquire him without losing a lot of value. If I'm playing a team with strong forward prospects but weak defense I pretty much always trade for Tolvanen and then use him to acquire Liljegren. The problem with Toronto is they don't want anybody with a multi-million dollar contract because they have so many extensions to sign. The best example of this would be when I last played as Winnipeg. Toronto won't take Byfuglien and 4 firsts for Liljegren, so instead I trade Byfuglien and a future first for Tolvanen, then trade Tolvanen to Toronto for Liljegren and a current second, meaning that I've converted an aging defenseman with a 7.6 million dollar cap hit and a first rounder into an elite defense prospect with all three years of his rookie contract and a second round pick. Cole, if a player wants to resign, multiply their asking price by .85 round the number up to the nearest 25k. If they want an extention it will work everytime. Hope this helps you make more sick content man. -Dave

I think if youre able to clear up the cap space to go out and sign more than 5 guys for your NHL roster then why not be allowed? Like it's not like your cheesing the system! You're the one who cleared the cap space, so why is there a penalty for being smart with contracts/ money?

Just wondering if the problem that was in nhl 18 is in nhl 19... Cpu doesn't sign created caps because after year 2 their classified as UFA not RFA

How does the cap play out in later years? I know in years past CPU teams would be constantly up against the cap so you'd have mid 80's players spending the entire season as FA's because no one could afford them.

I realize this video is super old. I am working my way through the series, which I enjoy. I do think that if CPU trade offers are a bonus, you shouldn’t be able to change it too drastically. I get it, this is a nitpick and maybe in your newest installments, your rules have changed but I’ve only just started binging the content.

Krebs is ranked at 9, 8 and 14 by the scouting networks that eliteprospects shows. Not a medium elite level player imo.
