    In this video I cover the main components of the air brake system on a semi truck and how they work. I know I might not cover everything in this video but this should give you an idea of how it works. If you have any questions be sure to drop them in the comments section.

    Best part was the end where you say to use OEM parts.
    Know that valve manufacturers use the same housings for different valves (inner workings are different). Using wrong valve could cause brakes to do wierd things even fail. = your liability.

    Hi Adam,
    just a quick question if you could answer but do the rear abs valves ( under the fifth wheel ) have anything to do with the rear air ride or leveling valve?
    Thank you

    • @TATEXPRESSINC
      @TATEXPRESSINC  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sir, the abs valves do not have anything to do with the rear air bags. The rear air bags have a dedicated leveling valve

    • @christopheryoung826
      @christopheryoung826 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      what type of truck? While they domt technically have any relation there is a valve on the side of the frame by the transmission that would lead you to believe either the brake system or air bags have issue caused by the other.

    • @MrTurboVeki
      @MrTurboVeki 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@christopheryoung826 2015 Freightliner Cascadia DD15. The ride is really roigh rough and I replaced twice the leveling valve and and can valve. it has been properly adjusted but still have the issue with hard shifting and very very rough ride that is coming from back of the truck. feels like the air bags are getting overinflated whike driving down the road. there has to be some kind of control valve other than the leveling valve. maybe air tank? some type of check valve? when you think about it, the air that is going to the leveling valve is the same air going to the brakes from the secondary air system. there has to be some type of restriction or something going on.

    • @CrodDc5
      @CrodDc5 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrTurboVeki literally having the same problem. Changed secondary tank and every valve on tractor and new air dryer. Nothing else to change besides the compressor itself. Did u happen to figure out the problem?

  • @cmlilfry

    I have a question when replacing the air brakes compressor is it necessary to time the compressor & to time back the crank to the mark or you can just set the timing mark on the compressor ? Oh on a 2013 Freightliner Cascade 125

    • @TATEXPRESSINC
      @TATEXPRESSINC  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    do you know where I can find out why my front air gauge has a lower pressure reading then my rear air gauge? I would like to adjust it so both have the same pressure reading. Front has 115 psi and the rear has 125 psi. thank you

    • @TATEXPRESSINC
      @TATEXPRESSINC  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You may have an issue with a check valve or an air leak on the tank that is reading lower

    Missed couple values

    *Before you get rolling I have a question*
    Every international passenger airliner requires its pilots to be able to speak _English_ If English is your primary language it’s no big deal. You take it even 10-15 years However pilots from other countries have to retake this test every couple years.
    It’s my understanding in the United States no *CDL* license will be issued to someone who can’t speak English.
    So this guy was stopped one day in a semi in a deadly turn and he showed me his shipping papers. I pointed in the direction he was going, explained the best I could using words like “uno mile” “granda signo” and what he didn’t realize was that if he missed the turn off he had to drive 30 miles to turn before having the space to turn around and go back.
    You have to understand I stoped in the middle of the road pointed out the window to the industrial complex and I can’t imagine why in the hell that dude thought I start in the middle of the road to the point at large factory and then decided to follow me beyond that point.
    I was holding up 5 fingers and pointing at my watch and I can’t fathom how this dude can drive a semi truck, unless someone cheated on his test and tried to convince everyone he’s deaf. I literally look like a fucking clown making hand gestures to follow me and then I would point. It was ludicrous.

    still don't know how it WORKS!!!!!

  • @pr0ject_nihilist
    @pr0ject_nihilist 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    You left out that “air brakes” not like hydrologic brakes like of cars and trucks. They stop using the increase in fluid. It’s my understanding air brakes work by releasing pressure.
    In your average automobile a damaged brake line will keep the brakes from working. And on big trucks the brakes work by releasing air.
    You’re showing us all the major parts of the system you’re not explaining it to us and you don’t have a trailer hooked up because I’m curious what those two lines do? Is one for the left brakes and for the right brakes is one for high-pressure low-pressure? I am sure that a breach in the system will cause the brakes to lock up regardless of if they’re ABS or not.
    I figured the reason you had to have a special license to drive a semi truck is so that you understand that they are totally opposite to brakes on regular automobiles. The standard on most of them being you increase pressure to the brakes and that increases friction but in the semi trucks you press the brake pedal and that actually relieves pressure engaging the brakes. Basically ensuring that if there’s some kind of catastrophic failure all your wheels will basically lock up. Am I correct or not like I was hoping you tell me what would happen if one of those lines to your trailer filled with cars I mean like tell me about this governor explain to me how the interlock brakes work because they would have to work differently than on your regular automobile?
    I mean the way anti-lock brakes would have to work on a semi truck would have to be totally different at least opposite to those of regular vehicles and do your trailers have antilock brakes to and does the engine have traction control where if you were trying to over accelerate and will start spinning does the engine lose power?
