    Just bought the combo kit and this really helped me with the audio setup. Thanks.

      Glad it helped! I have that same combo kit. I just did some video work for a commercial client and used the OSMO for some steady cam work. I just saw the final release of the corporate video and many clips from the OSMO were used in the final cut.

    Thanks Terry, I have been considering trying the Osmo; Just came back from an Antarctica trip with 100 other photographers where 30-40% of them were using Osmo for environmental videos. Appears to be an amazing technology. A future "quick" video on editing and managing the post process would be helpful for us "stills" guys.

      I'll put that on the list of possible videos. Thanks for watching.

    Thank you Terry. I used the Osmo Pocket 3 on its first outing a few weeks ago in South Africa on a safari holiday. It was great for environmental videos but too limited for animal shots because of its limited zoom capabilities, which in fairness it’s not designed for. I also didn’t use the remote mic or change any settings (I will next time) and the wind noise from the standard mics on the unit whilst travelling in the Land Cruisers on safari was really bad. I wasn’t too bothered though as I delete the sound tracks in post and use music but the 4K video quality was better than I expected it to be.

      Hope you had a great time David. Yes, you will find if you do want to record sound, use the remote mic with the little furry attachment. It helps quite a bit. Thanks for watching.

    Also, try an external audio recorder such as a sound devices.

      Yes, I use the sound devices MixPre-3 and love it.

    Hi. Thanks for this. I have the osmo 3 and the mic and i think its superb. However, i did forget to press the record button when speaking, i assumed it was linked and i started talking, it was recording. I do think though that with low cut switched off i get a deeper sound, which i prefer, especially if indoors and the room is a little reverby. Thanks for the video, well explained. 👍

      I agree, I turned off my low cut filter as well. Thanks for watching.

    Great video. I think its the only video showing OP3's surround recording 👏. And fact that you compared it to the DPA was very helpful. Have you tried Sonic SP15 binaural spatial microphone?
    For the best ambience sounds, I suggest using something like SP15 Sonic Binaural Microphones. They have regular TRS or USB-C that you can directly plug into the dji or mic 2 reliever. I have used the same model DPA but it needs phantom power. The sonic sp15 is straight plug and play and quality of sound is the same for under $200. That would be the perfect combo for tour and nature videos.

    The Osmo Pocket 3 mics seem to allow a lot of high frequency audio where as the Sound Device seems to cancel out a lot of the higher frequency audio. I like the Osmo sound for nat sound recording. I seem to hear more detail in the miss to night frequencies.

      Yes, you can get pretty detailed sound recordings and the Osmo is pretty good for some natural sounds.

    This is fantastic, thanks for the info on using the DJI stock mic for binaural recording! Do you think using two external DJI mics in a binaural configuration (spaced apart like a dummy head) would result in a better binaural experience than the stock mic?

    • @tv510
      @tv510  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'll be it would. I have two of those mics, I should give it a try. Thanks for the idea!

      Grand! @tv510 I went to a dji shop yesterday and noticed the magnetic clip on the mic is quite strong, perhaps it can safely mount the mic in our hat too 😅 Thank you for the reply and kudos to your well made video.
      Btw the binaural from your DPA mic picked up the woodpecker but not the pocket 3, was the bird making a sound constantly when you record or only when the dpa mic was active?

    • @tv510
      @tv510  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@ibnunajib the DPA mics are pretty detailed. Though I think the wood pecker wasn’t making the same level of racket. 😄

    I believe 32 bit float is only available to internal recoding. That is, when you manually press the red button. The normal Bluetooth sync recording is 24 bit only.

      I think you are correct. I always do the back up recording so I haven’t noticed it. Thanks for the heads up.

    can i check if you only get a mono audio recording when you connect the external mic to the Pocket?

    • @tv510
      @tv510  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You are going to need two mics to get real stereo. However, you can alter the recording, (I’ve done this in Final Cut,) by splitting the sound over two channels. That way the sound comes out of both speakers.

    The transmitter mic should have a clip twisted 90 degrees so the mic is aimed at your mouth when clipped on button shirts.
    I really like the Osmo 3. I might need to buy it. I’d like to buy it to make videos of nature with decent audio. Right now I have about forty pounds of equipment to make top quality audio and video. The Osmo sounds decent enough if the nature sounds are loud enough. Could combine it with a 32 bit handheld recorder I suppose, but I may not need to? With the Osmo I could go hiking to more potential places.
    Gee, how do explain why I need this to my wife? I guess I’ll have to hold off on getting a new iPhone, lol.
    Thanks for the video!

    • @tv510
      @tv510  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I wouldn't go so far as to say the OSMO is as good as top quality microphones, but it is way easier. Good luck with the presentation to the wife!

    I'm sorry, the hole under the lcd is a speaker, NOT a mic. There are only three mics. So your instructions are incorrect. Look at the Pocket 3 diagram in the manual.

      I'll look into that, thanks for pointing that out.
