- This '87 Redskins Bills game rolled out just the way Joe Gibbs hoped every week would go - Jay Schoeder having an efficient a (mostly) error-free day, George Rogers rumbling for 100+ yards, Kelvin Bryant making clutch catches out of the backfield and into the endzone - all according to plans that kinda unraveled on the way to the Super Bowl. Go figure.
Not-so-fun-fact - Washington hasn't won in Buffalo since this November day in 1987. Go figure.
Remastered from VHS to digital with little regard for human life.

I reside in Scotland and started supporting the Redskins in 1983. I took my '87 summer vacation in October/November so I could attend the Giants v Bills and Redskins v Bills game.
It was a day I'll always remember. I stayed with my relatives in St Catherines and walked across the Rainbow Bridge to the bus terminal with my mate for the shuttle bus to Rich Stadium.
Great memories and great to see Washington playing well this season. We've waited a long, long time after the Snyder era.
Thank you very much for posting this online. It brings back so many good memories for me. Thanks again 🙏🏼
Lived in the Buffalo area and went to this game, trying not to cheer too hard for the Redskins in front of Bills fans. They looked really good and kept getting better down the stretch. Great to see them in a Super Bowl winning season.
Jacoby owned Bruce Smith all game on running games. Bruce Smith was great. Jacoby belongs in the HOF
I met Jay Schroeder back in 86, he had a hell of an arm. Miss that era of football.
He had an Elway type of arm
Great arm but consistency and accuracy problems plagued him . I think he came to rely on his arm strength to compensate for his dearth of touch.
@@MaximusWolfe yeah he had his flaws but even Brett Favre had his flaws the gunslinger mentality..
Who knew that Todd Bowles would be a future NFL head coach?
I can honestly say I watched this game and surely taped it on VHS, but I don't remember this game at all.
Future Super Bowl jersey matchup!
First NFL game I ever attended
This is possibly the last time we won in Buffalo
You are correct, sir.
I remember this game, we dominate the bills that year.
These two teams just 4 years later would face each other in the Super Bowl, in what would be consecutive loss number 2 for the Bills...
A week after this game, Buffalo would upset WAS’s eventual SB 22 opponent the Broncos
Jay Schroeder I believe should be included in the 90 greatest Redskins of all time, he's very much underrated and should at least be mentioned in the same breath as the other great Redskin quarterbacks, Baugh, Jurgensen, Theismann, Kilmer, Rypien and Doug Williams
He was better than rypien and williams
Schroeder could be great or awful depending on what quarter the game was in. Luckily the 4th quarter was usually his best
Disagree
No, sorry, one decent season and a cannon arm don’t put him in that echelon. He had accuracy problems and threw senseless interception far too frequently. Unfortunately he never rectified his issues. He is nowhere near Baugh, Kilmer or Jurgensen as he only played 3 seasons for the team and only one as the main starter. That’s not a 90 greatest resume.

No he was not. For one thing he played at a mediocre level in the biggest games. Williams and Rypien played quite well in high stakes football games. Rypien actually improved as time went on whereas Schroeder was unable to mollify his accuracy woes, which followed him to the Raiders to the point where he was eventually replaced by a crackhead.
Jay had his issues but he had a beautiful deep ball.
The Bills were cheated out of a defensive TD in the 2nd quarter. The fumble return should have stood.
Agreed. The Bills got robbed on that one. Still, the day belonged to the Skins.
@@RetroSkins I agree, that was fast whistle, they got cheated.
I'm here to watch todd
I didn't think Bradshaw ever teamed with Stockton?
Do you have video of the Scab game when they beat Dallas
As a matter of fact…
Who was Jim Kelly?
It's all about the j Allen cat these days it seems to me
