The fact there's a map and a section they dubbed "corrupted" gives this a Stanley Parable feeling to me. I want like, a full, real, official game like this, like, Nintendo would never do it, not Mario, but someone just releases a game of one with a lapsed copyright--are there any? i feel like maybe Croc would have a lapsed copyright--portraying it as an unreleased form of the game that is cursed and was found in a taco. Maybe try to make it a little more coherent, such as dumping you out from the door/painting you entered when you get a star so you can explore from where you left off.
The Mario purgatory theory is actually kinda unsettling. Imagine: He's just doomed to roam a familiar never ending castle with no hope of getting out whatsoever. He's slowly losing his sanity bit by bit desperately trying to find a way to escape. He's just wandering from room to room hoping to find an end, but to no avail. He's...He's... *He's trapped within the castle walls*
Spoiler: . . When you beat final bowser and get to the end, it only plays the ending briefly before mario is curled up and the death transition plays and spits you back to the hellish basement or title screen (if you have no lives left). So in a way, you wouldn't be too far off about that.
I'm fascinated by this romhack. It's closer to what my childhood memory of the game is than the actual game. I remember the castle being huge and full of secrets. An expansive second floor, bigger levels, etc. When I played it years later I was so underwhelmed by the actual size of the castle, I genuinely thought I was missing something. So most of my memories are altered by time and a portion I think come from dreams, so this romhack is literally a dream come true
I think my experience with this hack was genuinely kind of ideal, even if the circumstances weren't exactly comfortable to say the least. I watched part 1 while incredibly sick from a bacterial infection in my leg. We're talking delirious, fever dreams, constantly passing out for 3 days and I watched vinny play this hack while drifting in and out of sleep, during which my dreams would be incredibly confusing already. I then completely forgot I had watched this and whenever I briefly remembered some of it, I assumed it was part of my weird dreams and all because I was also watching a lot of simpleflips (shoutouts to that guy, he cunkin') playing the chaos mod of mario 64. But then I get this in my sub feed and it all comes back to me and just feels extra bizarre.
Wow I can’t imagine fading in and out of *actual fever dreams* while watching someone play this fever dream of a game. On another note I hope you’re doing alright :)
vinny finding the room he was actively searching for only to enter and immediately waltz out of it was probably the most painful thing from this entire stream when it was first uploaded
This rom hack does a great job capturing that feeling of booting up Mario 64 for the first time when you 5 or 6 years old. Everything is confusing and weird.
Playing Mario 64 Build 3313 was one hell of an experience. Going in with zero expectations, I found all the weird Mario lore and creepypastas fleshed out into a game full of liminal spaces and weirdness. One of my fave games ever.
Actually this game was accidentally used as a hard taco shell in a taco bell in south carolina, the customer who bit into it had to get his stomach pumped so the rest of the cartridge could be salvaged but it was already digested by then, and also beef grease and cheese sauce had soaked into the rest of it. So it was unplayable until five years later, when a sewer worker saw an exact replica of the cartridge that actually didn't work sadly, and she had to bring it back to the guy so they could repair it together with some magic computer software (not actually magic) and elmer's glue.
Personally, I feel like B3313 is something Vinny has to play live rather than prerecorded. I feel like live reactions are one of the best things about B3313. Also, chat would be able to help him if he ever needed it, although personally I do think the aimlessness of the hack is what adds to the experience. I do also make video guides of B3313 showcasing how to get to different locations. I even have a video of a complete playthrough of B3313 with every star collected and all areas that are considered points of interests visited so if a mod wants to go through my videos and then guide Vinny the next time he plays that would also work.
I’ll be sure to check those videos out. Game hacks / unofficial builds are really interesting to me because you get to see someone else’s design choices instead of a corporation or large conglomerate business’ ideas.
I don't know if the vinny sees comments on the sauceful You-Tube videos, but I think this game is more enjoyable to watch when he's exploring aimlessly instead of trying to do something specific, or follow a map. It's the same with the corruptions. More organic exploration and discovery, instead of following procedure.
Binyot is blind, he would beat the entire game without finding the pepperoni secret that requires Mario to have his GED and ground pound a sign 27 times.
He reads them, not sure all of them or just skims sometimes, but he does reply to comments sometimes with his vinesauce channel. Any replies from the fullsauce channel are from John.
If it doesn't exist already, I absolutely NEED to see an Always Sunny conspiracy meme with that map because holy shit, I never thought I'd lose it at the sight of a map before.
No no, you're right. This mod truly feels like a aimless maze, with rooms and areas that don't fit together. With levels that feel familiar, but are foreign.
"this game... was found in a taco" this quote is deeper than the Internal Plexus of the castle! it's so lovely that they bothered to add new music, remixed for a mario64 game from Partners in Time and some tonal inversion remixes too!
I know im the only one doing this reference because the show is old as fuck and not many people might recognize it nowdays, but the part where vinny actually got again to the same place where faceless mario was and he just had to ground pound the ground again to get to reminded me to that episode of Sliders where Quinn got to an alternative universe where he landed right in front of his house and went to the front door, tried to open it to hear it squeak but there was no squeak so dissapointed jumped back into the portal just to then for his mother to come out of the house and the gardener to say that he fixed the squeak that the front door had for years. In short terms, if Quinn had waited a few seconds for his mother to come out he could had stayed there because he landed back in the original universe he lived in by mere accident, same here with vinny, if he just had ground pounded the floor right when he got back into the dimmed light lobby he could had gotten the faceless mario scene again, but alas it wasnt meant to be.
I'm positive now, this whole game is a paradox of time and space, and the lynchpin is those three Goombas at the center of its multiple points it converges
1:25 Jesus that map is like the one from Yume 2kki; full of weird connections, insane worlds, but it's really interesting and I find amazing how you're able to put so many stuff on both a map and a N64 game I'm pretty interested on seeing if at some future we're going to get that SM64 Beta from 1995 or if more Beta content will be leaked, but I'm not a huge fan of fan content like the Wario thing or "lost levels" and this huge collective paranoia, yet I have to mention and recognize how amazing this fangame is and really like some concepts like including stuff from the Super Mario Brothers Show, thanks for playing it again Vinny
Anyone else find the familiarity comforting rather than frightening? After pretty much knowing SM64 inside out, it's nice to be able to reexperience the game with a sense of wonder and scale, and getting lost in the castle like it was back when we were kids. "Where will this door lead me next?" and whatnot.
Like others have stated. With these types of Yume Nikki/LSD games, its better to use the pages on their respective wikis. If you map them out its quickly becomes puzzling on its own. That said, this is really cool and interesting to watch
I just want to gush about how amazing this romhack is. I have like 50 stars in it right now and it's insane to me that Vinny's just stumbling into brand new areas that I haven't seen even though I've been playing it longer than him. This romhack is crazy!
Vin by pausing the game and pressing A the game will quick-travel you to the beta castle lobby so that you don't have to kill Mario everytime you find yourself stuck
So happy to see this. The whole personalized copy and iceberg stuff is like my favorite thing to appear online ever I'm so glad it's not totally dead. Seriously all that and the giga leak happening at the sametime was the coolest shit. Hope they can continue adding to this, like it just needs a hostile Dory and Wario either playable or as an apparition and some other stuff really. A mod like this but for Ocarina would also be awesome. And like I said last time these but as a more cohesive add on to the main game would be the best. With all the exciting strives n64 mods have been making since 2019 I think it could happen sooner than later. If we have stuff like Render96, Smash Remix, and Paper Mario Dark Star; how far are we from getting the Light and Sky Temple and Desert Pyramid for real? Sorry I really love this stuff as you can tell lol.
once Vinny homes in on the right starting lobby, after the Bowser fight, he misses a key juncture....the double doors on the left that Mario proceeds to use a key on despite no keyhole. This leads to a tiny hallway with another double door, which leads to a "friendly" room with a wall with the sky-portal image, to the right. THIS is the door to the critical mock-lobby room. It has mondo steps leading up to the original key door instead of the traditional red-carpeted steps, and no sunlight is coming in. Vinny looks up at the sky image, which remains dark, and pounds on the sun symbol, taking him to the negative-Mario void
It's somewhat unsurprising that Vinny completely missed the Faceless Mario room when he finally got back to the lobby that leads to it, considering I feel like the first time was instinct The camera clipped into the floor and showed there was something under the sun rug[?] and gamer brain took over and went "There's something under there, let me try ground-pounding"
That 32:00 level seems to be some type of alternative to that one in the first stream that had Wet Dry World's mechanics and the doors. Can't tell whether after or before the inundation because the Bob-Omb says as if Mario did that before. But it can be just a reference to the power stars giving life to the paintings and the water there's below every level, wich is where everyone ends up once Mario collects it since there's no place for them to stand on.
I'm just going to be another person here to type that Vinny forgot that he had to ground pound the sun in the main lobby. The more of us there are, the more likely it is that Vinny will actually remember something.
I could watch these bizarre exploration streams for days on end and never get sick of them. This mario hack just feels like such a constant fever dream. I love it.
This game truly just has that quality to it that makes you just want to come back to it later, and keep exploring and finding new stuff. Heck, even watching someone else, I often find that they found things I didn't. It's a living embodiment of those playground rumor days where people would talk about these new secrets they found in a game that you were never 100% sure about if they were true or false. And since the game is being periodically updated with more stuff, it can even mean that any given thing could become real in it later. It's like the Mario 64 that we saw through our eyes as kids, where it felt like the game was never really ending, and you weren't good enough to access some of the later parts so all you could really do was speculate and dream about the game. I hope it becomes fully playable on real hardware eventually.
The music you heard in the Cold Cold Crevasse is Thwomp Caverns from Mario & Luigi Partners in Time. The pyramid music you didn't recognize is the SMW Desert theme from Super Mario Maker 2.
You can get to Dark Luigi, that should take you to the faceless mario area if you go around the castle where the metal cap normally is and enter the castle from the door you'll find above the water. From here, go into the left door and enter the long dark hall pipe. This will take you back to the Sewer area (DO NOT FALL IN ANY HOLES, its loaded with traps). Follow the maze to a rocky wall section and you'll see him in the distance. Make sure to save state at this point, cause he will crash your game if you get too close (let him kill you to progress. This is also the way I found to get to the base game endless hallway. Have fun!)

idk why but "this game was found in a taco..." really cracked me up
i was snackin on crunchy supreme taco bell... all of a sudden... i bit down on PLASTIC....and there it was...B3313
He literally got to the thing he was looking for, forgot he needed to ground pound the floor and said "nope, not it" and turned around. god fucking dammit.
He did this so many times I couldn't keep watching
Combination of vineMemory and vineBlind.
I think there may be a PS2-Era 3D Platformer with a lapsed copyrice, also I think Blinx has a lapsed copyrice
Now, we just need Mario to be followed by an obnoxious, snarky British disembodied voice. 😆
A new Gex game with this style would be great.
:O
The Castle with a Plumber in Its Walls
Spoiler:
.
.
When you beat final bowser and get to the end, it only plays the ending briefly before mario is curled up and the death transition plays and spits you back to the hellish basement or title screen (if you have no lives left). So in a way, you wouldn't be too far off about that.
i'm in your walls auauauau
I got a sortof infinite IKEA except Peaches castle-feeling at some point through this
Its funny how focused he was in fiding the faceless mario but didnt know what or where to search
I'm SO glad there is a part 2 of this. I hope this becomes a full series. I was so fascinated watching the first play through of this.
@@64channel1889 It was super bizarre. I am fine now though, thanks!
Just as the dev intended
vinny finding the room he was actively searching for only to enter and immediately waltz out of it was probably the most painful thing from this entire stream when it was first uploaded
This rom hack does a great job capturing that feeling of booting up Mario 64 for the first time when you 5 or 6 years old. Everything is confusing and weird.
14:30 Four Kings looking pretty different from what I remember
Watching him instantly run past the floor he ground pounded to get to creepy Mario twice caused me immense physical pain
Watching Vinny look for the Mario had me dying the whole time
He walked over it so many times... completely forgetting how he got there. It hurts
Playing Mario 64 Build 3313 was one hell of an experience. Going in with zero expectations, I found all the weird Mario lore and creepypastas fleshed out into a game full of liminal spaces and weirdness. One of my fave games ever.
Vinny accidently causing the game to go into negative lives was a blessing because he could explore without worrying about a Game Over.
@@rampageblizzardAlso check out the fan game SRB2 and the channel Blue Television Gaming
True. that is also pretty fun in of itself.
Had he streamed this live with chat he would've absolutely gotten back to the faceless Mario room again
That said I really hope he tries this out again one last time at least so he can go back to the faceless Mario room
35:27 this remix is so nice, whenever I thought of Super Mario 64 as a kid this is what it felt like it felt like this song
If it doesn't exist already, I absolutely NEED to see an Always Sunny conspiracy meme with that map because holy shit, I never thought I'd lose it at the sight of a map before.
The first ever B3313 cartridge was found inside of a B3314 cartridge, which was just Mario 64, but all of the textures didn't exist.
This mario 64 liminal space mod is 100 times better then the gmod ones Vinny did for halloween. But that might just be me.
No no, you're right. This mod truly feels like a aimless maze, with rooms and areas that don't fit together. With levels that feel familiar, but are foreign.
@@FunkyGhost37 i agree 100 percent
Name for a spooky vinesauce fangame: terminally liminal. And the sequel, liminally terminal.
1:25 Jesus that map is like the one from Yume 2kki; full of weird connections, insane worlds, but it's really interesting and I find amazing how you're able to put so many stuff on both a map and a N64 game
I'm pretty interested on seeing if at some future we're going to get that SM64 Beta from 1995 or if more Beta content will be leaked, but I'm not a huge fan of fan content like the Wario thing or "lost levels" and this huge collective paranoia, yet I have to mention and recognize how amazing this fangame is and really like some concepts like including stuff from the Super Mario Brothers Show, thanks for playing it again Vinny
Yume 2kki in the chat 👀
Anyone else find the familiarity comforting rather than frightening? After pretty much knowing SM64 inside out, it's nice to be able to reexperience the game with a sense of wonder and scale, and getting lost in the castle like it was back when we were kids. "Where will this door lead me next?" and whatnot.
Vinny drowning himself instead of warping to the castle from the pause menu is peak Vinny Vinesauce
Like others have stated. With these types of Yume Nikki/LSD games, its better to use the pages on their respective wikis. If you map them out its quickly becomes puzzling on its own. That said, this is really cool and interesting to watch
47:12 he was literally right there
I just want to gush about how amazing this romhack is.
After rewatching how he got to the faceless mario -- man, there is no way he was going to stumble back into finding that again.
At 47:12 he actually found it again. Just had to ground pound the floor.
such an interesting hack. whoever made it nailed making it as unsettling as possible without trying too hard to do so.
I love that were in a timeline where the phrase "negative emotional mario" has been uttered
Yay, more of that dream you had as a kid where you played a bizarre, surreal version of Mario 64.
This is such a cool romhack. The blatantly creepy bits don't do much for me but I like traversing the strange castle and exploring the warped levels.
You ground pounded on one of the center star designed red carpets when trying to go to the hidden level looking upward.
Sorry I really love this stuff as you can tell lol.
don’t forget return to yoshi’s island! that shit looks like absolute fire
There’s only so much they’ll be able to add until it’s larger than the rom size can be, if that’s even how mods work with these games.
once Vinny homes in on the right starting lobby, after the Bowser fight, he misses a key juncture....the double doors on the left that Mario proceeds to use a key on despite no keyhole.
I love the Partners In Time remixes in this
VINNY COULD’VE SAVE STATED AT THE CORRUPTED ARIO THING this isn’t an angry message but an idea for next time
Fast travel: Exists in vanilla
Vinny: Reaches dead end, "Guess I'll die."
Fast travel: *sad menu selection noises*
I never thought I'd ever hear the smile song ever again
That jingle that plays at the start lives rent free in my head.
Because it broke in and I can’t find it, but I know it’s there.
Oh Mario, this is why I told you not to tilt the cartridge.
You need vanish cap for the sewer maze to faze through the gated parts.
Was wondering if there was a part 2 happening, this hack is such a fascinating mess, I love it.
It's somewhat unsurprising that Vinny completely missed the Faceless Mario room when he finally got back to the lobby that leads to it, considering I feel like the first time was instinct
The camera clipped into the floor and showed there was something under the sun rug[?] and gamer brain took over and went "There's something under there, let me try ground-pounding"
blinty
You were right there where No-Face Mario was a second pass through. But you didn't groundpound the sun mat again.
That 32:00 level seems to be some type of alternative to that one in the first stream that had Wet Dry World's mechanics and the doors. Can't tell whether after or before the inundation because the Bob-Omb says as if Mario did that before. But it can be just a reference to the power stars giving life to the paintings and the water there's below every level, wich is where everyone ends up once Mario collects it since there's no place for them to stand on.
when that map showed up i kinda lost it, fucking hilarious and impressive
vinny was exactly where he needed to be multiple times, the real castle lobby room, he just needed to ground pound the rug
You'd think ground pounding the sun would be a detail he'd remember
Lol
I'm just going to be another person here to type that Vinny forgot that he had to ground pound the sun in the main lobby. The more of us there are, the more likely it is that Vinny will actually remember something.
34:43 So Nikocado is now officially part of the Vinesauce canon
"Man, I felt like I was very close."
-A man who was very close
The real spooky spaghetti starts at 13:47
I love me some freaky fettuccine, or perhaps some terrifying tagliolini
I could watch these bizarre exploration streams for days on end and never get sick of them. This mario hack just feels like such a constant fever dream. I love it.
The scariest thing about this game is trying to find your way around the castle
I would literally pay to see him play this more
This game truly just has that quality to it that makes you just want to come back to it later, and keep exploring and finding new stuff.
"John Hat Fizzlebean"
Glad to see the influence of Bugsnax is still with Vinny.
I like how he literally went into the room he was looking for and goes "Damn I was so close" and just runs off
I’m really glad to see we got another b3133 video!
Life has many doors, Luigi
Keep playing this one Vinny, I really enjoy this type of strange content.
Lol... In his quest to find Real Fake Mario he walked right past the right spot like 3 or 4 times.
been discovering this romhack too and its crazy to see myself finding other places than other people
I forgot that Vinny hasn't been streaming, so I was confused why no chat members told him where to go
The music you heard in the Cold Cold Crevasse is Thwomp Caverns from Mario & Luigi Partners in Time.
Have fun!)
I never get quite used to that WOOOH! soundeffect on some of them jumps
I love how "Thwomp Volcano" a theme associated with well, a volcano is in a frozen cave level.
47:13 I have never screamed so hard at my TV in my life, Vin just walked RIGHT OVER IT.
i wonder if anyone has realized the smile ghost theme is just the pacman theme but low pitched
The background song is yeah, but I'm pretty sure the main tune itself is original
@@catsukisubaru3715 The main tune is Dichromatic Lotus Butterfly.
Literally the guy mining diamond image
the "no!" sound effect kind of took away from the spook lol I was laughing hard af
felt suicidal for a second when vinny found the faceless mario room again but then immediately left
i feel like this is one of those games that Chat would be actually helpful with, but then again Chat yells a lot so
That flowchart is insane lmao
46:20 the one door you didn't go into was the double door on the left. THIS is where the creepy marioyot is. And old Johnhat Fizzleborn
Kinda wish faceless mario wasn't in the thumbnail so the experience was a bit more shocking, creepy nonetheless.
