Aoa Sir, I am a computer teacher at a government college, employed on an eight-month contract with a stipend of 25k per month. My employer has been making deductions under Section 153(1)(b) of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001, although I believe the correct provision is Section 149. My understanding is that Section 153 applies to businesses providing goods and services and includes professions like architects, decorators, lawyers, doctors, and dentists, otherwise than as an employee. The college has stated they will write to RTO Rawalpindi for clarification from the FBR, and until they receive a response, they are withholding my pay. Can you clarify if these deductions are legitimate and advise on how I should address this issue with my employer to rectify the situation and recover the deducted amounts?
