    That flower car had great lines, to me it was begging for an El Camino conversion with a working tail gate.

      I thought it was a Cadillac version of the El Camino. I wondered why I never heard of it, then I realized it’s a flower car.

    Mr. Badsocket - you're absolutely right when you say people took care of their cars back then. A fellow has been posting film clips on TH-cam taken from the rear of cars driving around in Southern Cali from the late 40's through the mid 50's. Watching those clips, I couldn't help but notice how many older cars dating back to the late 1920's were still on the road, and how even the old cars had a shine on them. Even if his car was old, a man took the trouble to wax it back then. Of course, the streets were clean and free of trash, also, but that's another story...

    Wow those old cars sure had style back then. The Studebaker was stunning with the circular and pointy front of it. The hearse was awesome. I love the workmanship on the inside which showed that fan pattern of color on the inside of the vehicle. There was another one that had absolutely beautiful decorative things on it. The eagle was beautiful on the back of that car. I would've loved to have had one to drive. That Futuramic car was very interesting.

    This auction was November 17 2020 if I remember the exact date correctly. I got the 59 caddy limo which is in Florida now. And the 49 lincoln which is in Poland now. The 39 chrysler which I parted out. And then that 57 hearse the original winning bidder backed out so they called me and asked if I wanted to buy it and I did and now it's out in California. And I bought a truckload of lose parts as well.

    • @1964corvan
      @1964corvan 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      first of all its not a real flower car, its just a deville turned into one (a real one is based on a commercial fleetwood 75 chassis, but secondly it went for a crazy $5,950! 6 grand for a rust bucket is insane! though i dont know if the high bidder ever did pay for it, cuz i think heard they were having issues with the buyer.

  • @williamdeegan7840
    @williamdeegan7840 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Great video. At 11:20 you showed a '59 Cadillac. I hate to tell you but I don't think that's a Flower Car. No Coach Builders name on it. The back end would have been Stainless Steel. And they were Four Doors. They would have kept the rear doors for storage. That's more like a custom pick up.

    • @1964corvan
      @1964corvan 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      flowercars were not 4 doors....like hearses, they were built on fleetwood 75 commercial chassis. so the coach builders who built them just got a chassis with the front clip and front doors and thats it.

    • @williamdeegan7840
