There's something really poetic about a lament, a song of grief, being transformed into a passionate battle chant. Sorrow, giving way to rage, leading to destruction... that's the tragedy of Sylvanas's character. Of course, the angelic singing doesn't hurt either :D

This might be the most beautiful thing I've ever heard. The pain, the intensity, there's even some desperation in there. I'm truly convinced that Patty Mattson is one of the most talented voices out there, in all forms. I'm a recent fan of Warcraft, and the entire reason is due to stumbling on a clip of Mrs. Mattson at Blizzcon.
I cannot imagine a Sylvanas without your voice. I'd always wondered what this would've sounded like if you'd sung it and I think you've done a wonderful job of making this your own as well as lending the strength that you bring to Sylvanas in this reimagining.

You know, you make it so natural that Sylvanas feels like she could be my sister or a friend. There was an interview where you said that you have some bad stuff from the past that allow you to tap into the emotions and bring them to the character - and we can feel that. The rage, the anger, and even the confusion when she crosses the line. I consider your work on par to big screen chaps like Heath Ledger, that could tap into those emotions as well. Honestly, whenever I listen to this, I get goosebumps. I've heard it so many times now and it still always has that effect on me. Sylvanas has been my favorite character since I started playing, and I always will stand behind my Banshee Queen and Warchief. Hearing her voice so beautifully in a song that conveys loss, rage, vengeance and grief all in one... It's making me emotional. Patty, I can't thank you enough for giving your voice to both this character and this song. I'm just in awe.
I felt chills when Patty first started singing... Having her voice gives Sylvanas' voice an authenticity that the original song, amazing as it is, could never quite reach. Then the tempo sped up and the war drums kicked in and those chills grew exponentially. Fantastic work and kudos to both Patty and Mark!
Ehhhhh I definitely prefer other versions, good try though. Whole piece sounds too nasally like she's pinching her nose the entire time. 1:35 made me cringe so bad, how can anyone say this is anything but an amusing attempt at singing from someone who should probably just stick to deadpan voice acting, I feel like you're all just trying to be nice because it's such a trainwreck.
Killing her would indeed be foolish. As would removing her from the faction which I think they might be planning on doing. Which essentially kills her cause then the inevitable raid happens.
Now I REALLY hope in future we will get a song like Daughter of the Sea but featuring Sylvanas. I've always loved the character and to hear her actually singing is just WOW.
My 8 year old Daughter's favorite Character...."That's the voice of my Queen Dad!!",..."The Warchief sweetie...she is the Warchief" :) Have listened to this song since before she was born and now it is one of her favorites also...amazing version! just an amazing job all around!! I've loved Sylvanas since I started playing WoW, and even being a little sad about the direction of the events in this last expansion with Sylv's writing taking a turn to a one dimensional villain (I hope that, since we don't know how this will end, I'm proven wrong about this), she will always hold a special place between my favorite characters. Sylvanas was my favorite character from the start. Even though I know how everything has developed so far, I remain loyal to her to this day. I hope all goes well for Sylvanas and she stays with us, it's a shame to lose such a great character. If anyone deserves it, it's Sylvanas. This is hauntingly beautiful and compellingly perfect. Having this iconic, defining hymn sung by you, Patty, is so satisfying from a storytellers POV. So much passion from the vocals paired in harmony with the energy of the music... Absolutely splendid! Would love to see more!

Every time I here this song, I think of all the hardships and heartache my Queen has been through. No wonder she gas given up hope on the living. Death is the only answer in Azeroth.
This version boils with rage. I can hear she will crush anything in her path. You bring a frightening intensity to the character, and my visit to Azeroth is well overdue.
No matter what happens in the Shadowlands Sylvanas MUST survive to continue to be a thorn in the side of the Alliance. It just wouldn't be WoW without her around in some fashion.

For my birthday, my wife actually bought me the Sylvannas pop funco I can't believe that a few years ago I thought it was silly that ppl play a game like WoW but after watching one of the cut scenes with your acting, I now feel silly wasting those years not playing. Truly a tragic character, that nobody can truly understand because... well, nobody has had their soul ripped from their body, and returned corrupted and broken. Well we could think of it as her....training the horde players.
Sylvanas was my favorite character from the start. Even though I know how everything has developed so far, I remain loyal to her to this day. I hope all goes well for Sylvanas and she stays with us, it's a shame to lose such a great character. If anyone deserves it, it's Sylvanas. Although I'm German and playing the game on a German client, I think her voice for Sylvanas is the best. I even watch English videos to hear her voice.

@Patty Mattson I just don't understand how your voice sounds so perfect for Sylvannas. You are too good for us. You actually are the reason that I played WoW last year. For my birthday, my wife actually bought me the Sylvannas pop funco I can't believe that a few years ago I thought it was silly that ppl play a game like WoW but after watching one of the cut scenes with your acting, I now feel silly wasting those years not playing. Patty, thank you for all of your work on Sylvanas, she has always been my (close to... that honor will have to be Arthas ofc) favorite character in Warcraft. Truly a tragic character, that nobody can truly understand because... well, nobody has had their soul ripped from their body, and returned corrupted and broken. Your voice is just perfect for her, has always conveyed perfect emotion for her at any given time.
Lament of The Highborne sounds amazing in your performance! Without your participation, the Warcraft universe would not have been so incredible. I'm used to play with Russian dubbing, but not one doubler replace your voice. I don’t know how to thank you, Ms. Mattson...Glory to the Dark Lady!

When Sylvanas became warchief, many people questioned if she was truly qualified to lead the Horde, but listen to her. How could anybody resist to that enthralling voice? Your acting is magnificent! Seems like i will be listening to this song at least 3 times a day xD

I am sure it must have been a great deal of work but I assure you it was worth it. I have listened to it twice already and your voice really just adds so much more to it vs having just any other narrator reading it.
