    Seems to have worked well for me, smells like lemons after the whole process. A real quality of life disclaimer; I’d buy a can that comes with a straw so you dont have to deal with the hassle of finding a straw that fits. Theres absolutely no working room down there so don’t even think about attempting this without one. Thanks for the video honda fit guy!

    Thank you so much for sharing this!!
    I was about to try it from underneath but this is so mich better cause you get to see and make sure that the condenser is completely covered with thecleansing foam. Thanks again!!

    Nice imagery showing the evaporator coil from behind.

    Excellent video. Thank you very much. My Fit stinks like a dirty wet stinky dog.

    Thank you for posting this - while attempting it this afternoon, the blower sucked in the straw/hose for the AC coil cleaner. I can no longer see it - do you figure this is an issue?
    I would also like to see how you got eyes on the evaporator so nicely - I'd like to spray there as much as through the access.

      I actually had the same thing happen while filming. The straw ends up laying at the bottom of the evaporator. I don’t think it would cause any issues but I needed it.
      How I got it out is by reaching my hand in through where I filmed the evaporator.
      The way I got access is there are three nuts that hold the blower/filter box to the fire wall (2 on the bottom, one in the top right) once you remove those you can move the whole box slightly to the right. This gave me enough room to put the camera of my phone in between the box and the resistor tube.
      It also gave me barely enough room to shove my hand in there and grab my straw.

    Any thought about pulling the drain hose off the bottom of the evaporator box, then shooting compressed air down the hose from inside the cabin to underneath the car? Then you don't need to jack up the car and get underneath, which might avoid a face full of really bad smelly water.

    • @thehondafitguy
      @thehondafitguy  ปีที่แล้ว

      If the hose is clogged this would work but if you have a bunch of water in the evaporator box it will be smelly stinky water on the floor of the car.
      If you're just cleaning the evaporator there is no need to go under the car at all. If your car leaves a puddle of water under it while the AC is running than the hose isn't plugged.

    Another video said to run the heater on high for 10 minutes to dry out the evaporator so that the foam cleans it better.

    What is function of resistor?

    • @thehondafitguy
      @thehondafitguy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      When you adjust the fan speed switch it sends current through different resisters in the resister unit. Then the power goes to the blower motor. This is a simple way to adjust the motor speed.
      A side affect of resistance in a circuit is heat so the engineers placed the resistor unit in the airflow of the blower to keep it cool. This is why I said to unplug it when its not in place because you can burn it out/melt it.
      The only fan speed that doesn’t go through the resistor is high and that’s what I was setting the speed to during this project.

    I did this and now my ac blows at about 25% power. Anybody have any ideas what I may have messed up? Maybe I fried out that switch that gets unplugged?

    • @thehondafitguy
      @thehondafitguy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Less air out of the vents, less cool, or the blower only seems to work on certain speeds?

    • @thehondafitguy
      @thehondafitguy  ปีที่แล้ว

      If its less air out of the vents it might just be the foam hasn't dissipated yet and will sort itself out. If the blower only works on certain speeds than you may have screwed up the resistor unit (the switch that go unplugged). If it is less cool you could try filling a sprayer bottle with just water and trying spraying through the hole to get rid of any residue that may be left on the coil.

      @@thehondafitguy It blows at all four settings just seemingly at about half power at all speeds.

      Are all 4 fan speeds working? Did you spray cleaning foam from outside at the windshield cowel? If yes, the cabin filter somehow may have become clogged.

  • @hazelstreet1654
    @hazelstreet1654 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    When my ac starts smelling I just replace the cabin air filter. That always takes cate of that issue.

    • @thehondafitguy
      @thehondafitguy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This can definitely be an issue but even with a brand new filter mine was still stinky only with the AC/Defrost on.

      @@thehondafitguy same. I tried lysol through the blower, and through the intake outside the car, as well as the air filter change - it did help but was pretty temporary. I hope this fix helps more long term. I also try to turn the AC off a few minutes before getting home and blow normal air through - get condensation out

      @@greg5383 What you should do is spend around $50 to $60 to buy one of those Ozone machine and use that to eliminate the odors, not mass it. I bough a car that the previous owner smoke in it and try all kind of stuff and it never eliminate the odors until I got the Ozone machine use it and it takes of the smoke odors. You can use that machine in basement or any foul smell in any rooms. Good Luck

      I actually have a 2015 Honda Fit & a good ozone machine. Car smelled like feet, so ran the ozone for roughly 2.5 hours, it worked for about a month and then the feet were back. So glad you made this video, I’ll try cleaning it this week. Thanks!😊

      @@douglester147 Yikes, did you run the fan with the Rec. button on so the air will go inside the vents and kills mods in the system? Your carpet maybe needs to be pulled and dry out since mode is under it and the problems still exist after using the Ozone machine.
