Mysarias cloak reminds me of Margaerys wedding gown and Sansa's Queen gown pattern. What I like about this show is that the costumes look so much more detailed than GOT or perhaps is the cameras I cannot wait to see more.
Not gonna lie, as someone who liked the costumes from the beginning, I couldn't help but feel slightly vindicated by these images lol. I'm glad you like them too! I'm a fan of Mysaria's costume in particular. I think they're alluding to the look of weirwood trees with her costume, since those trees are connected with "seeing all"
The Kingsguard armour looks awesome but those are some good points about hazardous ridges and the gorget. Perhaps that represents Viserys caring more about art than practicality. From a ruler whose main concern is appeasing everybody and abhors violence, it could be expected that these hazards might not occur to him when he ordered his design.
To be honest, while watching GOT I was too transfixed by the story to even pay serious attention to costumes, wigs, or historical accuracy. Videos like this have made me realize that I should probably start though haha, there seems to be a lot that goes into their designs. Great video, I’ll for sure be coming back when the show actually airs
Really looking forward to this show. As for the LOTR show, I still haven’t made up my mind, but the costumes look pretty. As always, I’m depending on your analysis.😘
Hey! You will get no grief from me about the design of the King's Guard armour. It's a whole mess, and I'm glad you're calling it out. 😤 I'd love to see that kind metalwork design on an art piece or sculpture. That would be awesome. However, as functional armour? 😅
Thank you so much for all the hard work you put into these videos! I must say I love the men´s costumes way better than the women´s. I am not crazy about the Elizabethan/Renaissance influence on the gowns since they look poorly adapted and I simply can´t stand seeing princess seams left and right. But I like the rich jewelry the ladies are wearing. The armour is nice to look at but unpractical and lack protection especially on the lower half of the bodies. If I am not mistaken and or she had to keep it a secret Michele Carragher told me that she was not involved in this show. If it is not her work, they surely got heavily inspired by her work. I wish they would´ve shown this enthusiasm to adapt more styles from Michele Clapton aswell. All in all though I can´t wait to watch this.
Thanks so much for your comment Aysun. That's interesting that Michele Carragher isn't coming back. Maybe Jany has someone that she likes to work with although as you say it's very similar to her work.
because of alicent who made a civil war that almost destroyed the dynasty, alicent's children all died because of his ambition to rule the throne for his family. and at the end of the story he realizes what he did was wrong and shouldn't have happened. The green color is the color of the green sigil
At first I thought they looked very cheap compared to the game of thrones costumes but I guess I’ll have to watch and see them under different lighting and cameras
@@Costume_CO Yey!!! I love the show. While I was watching, I've asked myself many times: what would Heidi say about this costume? What would she comment on that dress? I will wait anxiously for your video!
@@Costume_CO I've watched and loved every episode available. What was that last cliffhanger?!?! Amazing!!! I've read somewhere that the 4th season will be the last and I can't wait to watch it!
Hi Leticia, you will have to forgive me. I am doing a video about Severance, not Servant. But I love Servant as well and have watched it all. I can't wait to see the next season.
I'm not in love with Mysaria'a cloak. I appreciate the originality of the fabric, but that doesn't mean I have to like it, at least not as a hooded cloak.
I'm going to give the designer the benefit of the doubt that young rhaenyra's costumes seem all over the place on purpose; hear me out. From the trailer, it looks like they are going to play up rhaenyra being a tomboy rather than a spoiled princessess, so maybe her ill fitting and odd silhouette costumes are to show she has little understanding of fashion at court, and just wears whatever stands out to her at the moment. it wouldn't be unlike a teenager to experiment with their fashion. i understand that the whole "no taste tomboy" trope is over played in fantasy, but it fits.
Hey Rosa, thanks for your comment. Only think is that older Rhaenyra also has some ill fitting costumes without foundation garments so some of her looks are kind of droopy.
Saying that House of the Dragon will rise to the quality of Game of Thrones isn't really helpful. Are we talking about Season 1-6 Game of Thrones, or Season 7-8 Game of Thrones?

Hi Ericka, yes, others have mentioned that as well.
I think it's because they didn't wash out the scenes as much.

Great point Epic, thank you.
I’m so glad they are incorporating ear rings in to fashion this time! Can’t wait for the merch!!!
Me too! I really love the ones worn by Rhaenrya.
I hope we get to see Alicent in some grey Hightower gowns, too. Maybe in a scene before she married Viserys.
Thanks for commenting. It will be interesting to see how they deal with the timelines.
Your videos are so educational and formal. I also enjoy your insight into the worlds of costume keepnup the good work 👏 🙌 👍
Thank you so much Joe!

Please don't let me influence you! I'm pretty opinionated, 😄

It’s ironic that at the end of her life, Alicent start hating green

Something I noticed is that the women are virtually all wearing earrings whereas in GOT, they never did.
It's true, there were almost no earrings in Game of Thrones except on Leanna and Margaery, maybe a few others but I can't recall right now. 🤔
Pls make a video on Entertainment Weekly's new promotional photos of HOTD! So many new looks 😍
Hi Maxine, I plan to but I am away right now. As soon as I get back I will.
@@Costume_CO No problem. Thank you!!!
loved this video! i never read LOTR books but i think once it airs i’ll give it a try & tune in while watching HOTD
Thanks Ronald. Me too, I never read LOTR but I loved the movies and I am looking forward to the new series. It's going to be an exciting fall!
@@Costume_CO truly!

I did too but these are looking a lot better. I didn't like the earlier costumes and there are some in the teaser that I didn't like at all.

Also literal spider webs would be _WAY_ too on-the-nose. Give them at least a little credit.
Yes, very true.
@@Costume_CO Yes!
My hopes for the series are _so_ high in spite of everything I'm literally jittering as I type this
Do you like that they are adding more jewelry compared to game of thrones
Yes, forgot to mention that but I think I said it in another video.
My dear, best voice and enunciation Oscar winner, did you watch Apple's series "Servant"? The costumes are amazing!!! And I loved the set design.
Hi Leticia, I'm working on a video about it now. I love it!
@@Costume_CO Yey!!! I love the show. While I was watching, I've asked myself many times: what would Heidi say about this costume? What would she comment on that dress? I will wait anxiously for your video!

Good point, Oaktown, there's nothing original about the cut and drape...
Embroidery, please more
I hope to see more too!

Seasons 1 to 6, haha
@@Costume_CO I definitely agree there.
And I meant the costumes not the show itself.
@@Costume_CO I concede the point, but the joke only works when I pretend that you're talking about the overall quality of the show.
I'm lost.
Tbh they still look very cheap, specially Viserys’.
Thanks ClaraTube! It's really hard to tell without seeing them standing but I am more hopeful.
