  • Acoustic cover of the first song on Ulver's "Bergtatt" album.
    3 Main acoustic guitars, and then 2 additional acoustics for the vocal melodies, and also recorded bass.
    Will use a higher camera angle next time
    Comments/Feedback is appreciated, I actually prefer the most blatant/honest feedback possible rather than "sugar coated" wording.
    Feel free to suggest video ideas.
    Next acoustic cover may be Krig (Gorgoroth) or Blood Fire Death (Bathory).

    Apparently this was too accurate, somebody did an automatic copyright claim, sorry if there's an ad on this, I can't control it on this video.

    Hey man just want to say you have a great channel and I love your acoustic guitar videos. I listened to the long mixes you posted (the 30 and 45 minutes of acoustic guitar ones) and really loved them. Please post more videos like that, it was nice to listen to in the background while playing zork :)

    Thanks by the arts. They are really good!
    I have to ask you how is the captation that you use.
    And i am seek some microfone or equipment to record sinze some acoustic guitars and some naturals ambience like in florest, rivers and so forth...
    Do you have some indication for auxiliary in this ways from your good experiences?
    I am grateful for your attention and it would come back as an incentive!

      Currently I record the audio using Reaper on my laptop, and add it to the video in sony movie studio (basically sony vegas but cheaper with less effects).
      Video is just my old phone's camera.
      Main gear you'll need is an interface (connects mic to computer) and mic or even multiple mics. SM58 is a good mic to start with, or you could even try some cheaper mics liks pyle pdmic78 or Tbone mb75. Or you may be able to use the DI out on an acoustic to plug it directly into the interface skipping the mic. For interface you'll need to consider how much you plan to record at once, and if you want to record real drums. If you just need 1 instrument at a time with no plans for acoustic drums a 2 channel should be fine. If you do want acoustic drums though you may need an 8-16 channel interface or an interface with adat in / adat out so you can expand in the future.
      Haven't tried recording nature before but I'd imagine a more directional mic would help reduce background noise, look for a hypercardioid type of mic. I'v had good luck with a shure beta 58 for recording vocals in areas with large amounts of background noise.

      @@MessiahofFire Thanks for the response! Much appreciated. But tell me, what micro do you use to record your accustic guitar? And how about the effects do you use? In some videos it seems a nice reverb effect.

    • @MessiahofFire
      @MessiahofFire  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@emcombate5326 The reverb is added while mixing, its reaper's "reaverberate" effect with room size on 90.
      For mics:
      Older videos before the oceans of thunder demo were entirely just using the acoustic's direct out.
      This video and videos from a similar time frame were a blend between the direct out and an sm57 a foot away pointed at the 12th fret.
      Newer videos don't use the direct out, instead using 2 mics in stereo, an sm57 and a condenser (gt55 right now). Both are about a foot or 2 away pointed at 12th fret.

    Do you record every guitar track as mono?

    • @MessiahofFire
      @MessiahofFire  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      typically mono.
      sometimes I might add a 2nd mic to blend.
      Its not panned far away from the main mic though.
      I triple track to have left and right rhythms and a lead down the center.

    • @Rottensparrow
      @Rottensparrow 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MessiahofFire So if you say you have 3 acoustic guitars here it means you have 6 tracks, 3 for left and 3 for right, right?:D Is that they way you record electric guitar too? When I record it with 2 left and 2 right side it's already too "reverbed" and every riff sounds too atmospheric.

    • @MessiahofFire
      @MessiahofFire  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      in 1 mic recordings i typically pan about;
      Rhythm guitar 1: 70-90% left
      Rhythm guitar 2: 70-90% right
      Lead guitae: Center
      If double miced I do something like:
      Rhythm 1 Mic 1: 90% left
      Rhythm 1 Mic 2: 50% left
      Rhythm 2 Mic 1: 90% right
      Rhythm 2 Mic 2: 50% right
      Lead Mic 1: 20% left
      Lead Mic 2: 20% right
      pretty much the same for electric, i typically only use one mic on electric unless i'm recording 2 amps.
      Bass is always 1mic blended with a DI track
