You guys destroyed my life this week by mentioning it on the pod. I’m both so upset and so happy at once. Absolutely the hardest “one more run” feeling since Slay The Spire
I've been chasing the STS dragon for years and this game isn't that, but it's close enough to give me that feeling. That and Dicey Dungeons.
@15:27 One small correction: making a card a wild card doesn't override Foil or Polychrome. Cards can each have one Enhancement (like wild or bonus), Edition (like foil or polychrome), and Seal. The Collection menu in-game has the full lists of those available if you need to reference it.
This helps so much, thanks for the comment. I finally started winning some runs after 10 hours. Read about reordering Jokers after 6 of those hours so I'm slowly getting better from here haha
please please please do an entire documentary on Balatro! its so fascinating how simple of a game it us but how addicting it is.

Please do a play through of fragmented city. After having an absolutely incredible and visceral experience playing the demo (per Jesse’s recommendation) I reached out to the developer to find out that they are having a difficult time figuring out if they can finish the game. And they need to! Maybe some added attention would help!
There are VLTs everywhere here in Alberta. Never really thought it was weird, but in so many restaurants and bars you'll just see slot machines there that you can just walk up to and play. Never realized that wasn't normal elsewhere

Been really enjoying Balatro, but it does become frustrating and largely luck dependant at the very end stages of the game, such as Gold Stake or Ante 12 or 100+ M. Either way, I've been playing so much of it and I'm almost at 100% completion.
40:20 For those curious about unlocks / meta progression, you can actually see the unlock conditions for (most) jokers from that Collection menu on the main menu (and the Options menu mid-run). Once a joker is unlocked, it can start showing up in shops - immediately, even, if you're already in the middle of a run. The same applies to some vouchers that you also need to unlock first.
i finally stopped playing online poker everyday of my existence for the past 4 years... and now this game comes out?
More strategy and less expense than actual poker, what's not to love?

I’m a recrovering addict and balatrp is bad for mwz
so is this "just" Poker? I still don't get why this is so great, or what is so special? Not hating on it, I think I'm just too stupid to get it?
I didn't get it watching footage, but I bought it on a whim and it took half an hour before it clicked... but now I'm hooked.
What if you could change the payouts in poker? What if every table was playing jokers wild, with variable amounts of jokers and variable definitions of 'wild'? What if it just cost $15 to play, instead of an ante every time?
it's not just poker. it's almost like a mixup of poker and solitaire combined with RPG elements. it's about taking the fundamental knowledge of poker but instead of trying to beat another hand, it's point based and you're trying to get a certain number of points. trust me, this did not appeal to me at all but it's all about the strategy and getting that last hand that saves you. you really have to play a few hands to understand it, watching doesn't work. the dopamine rush you actually get when you land a great hand can only be experienced when YOU play it!
give it a shot sometime, it's so much more than what you think. you're just overthinking it
