I'm so grateful to you for letting me enjoy once again the misty Naguilian Road. I remember the town of Naguilian - I even glimpsed the monastery of the Contemplative Consolatrix Sisters on the right of the highway in Angin, Naguilian - even if the video was speeding along with the bouncy music. Very professionally done!
I rode my bike from Marikina to La Union. Intended to go to Manoag then take the bus going back to Manila but a friend suggested that I climb via Naguilian. It was tough because I only had my folding bike but it was a great experience. I went to Baguio Cathedral and the market then took a bus going back to Manila. Watching this video made me wonder how the heck I endured the climbs. Prayers and determination I guess. I hope to repeat using my road bike
Brought back memories during my college days @ SLU. This was my commute (riding Times Transit, bus company) coming from Ilocos every two weeks. I left Baguio City early part of 1977 and migrated to Seattle, WA & never been back there. Many thanks for this video.
Wow!!! this post gave me happy memories of this road that I drove from 1973 to 1989 as a Detailman,District Manager and Regional Sales Manager for Wyeth-Suaco Laboratores and also as a businessman. The big changes are the number of houses along the way.As a matter of fact I missed the house of Jun Labo. is it still there? I even missed the PLDT office as you enter Baguio City. I remembered a hotel-restaurant along Sablan I often stop to take my coffee for its balcony offered the best view of the Benguet Mountain range. and China sea. Great posting Demetri. Hope to personally see you and break bread with you when I visit the PI next year around January.Kudos and Congrats.Looking forward to more of your postings especially those of Laoag City and San Fernando La union where I lived for so long until I migrated to Canada.Salamat uli!!!!
Just a correction, Naguillian Road is only connected to a road passing through Tuba. So basically, the part where the fog started was actually the last barangay of Sablan, Benguet. If you saw the dog on your right side at the bridge 26:33, that is the landmark of the largest barangay in Baguio, Irisan. The municipality of Tuba is in Marcos Highway :)
Very good video, reminds minds me of my HS year, not driving. but taking victory liner bus for the weekend in my town of Angeles city. I was just wanderring how to slow fown the video, thanks Happy new year...
Nice one. Now really makes me home sick. We live in Baguio city, but I constantly travel this road to visit relatives in Bauang, Bangar and Bangued in Abra. I was last in the Philippines a good 23 years or so now till I settled here in England, and these videos really makes the difference - to keep me connected to my roots. Are you from Bauang dmitri? if so - do post some more similar videos to this one - the beaches, bauang to san fernando, bauang to agoo, etc. Sorry if I feel like requesting too much - but I'm sure you undertand Keep up the good work 'kaillian'........
My family and I took Naguilian route last weekend from San Fernando. We were in La Union for the beach pero nagkayayaan mag Baguio. Steep and challenging. I wonder how different is Kennon and Marcos highway?
xuaeenr1 Marcos Highways is ok , kenon is more narrow but still okay to pass. thanks for watching! You can check out those videos too in the Pinoy Joyride playlist
Sana mag back to normal na para makapunta ma kami sa baguio pwede naman kaso meron swab test ok lang samin meron swab test pero takot parin kami sa covid the good old days sarap bumalik sa panahon ganto

Hello sir! I'm one of your many followers here.... I just have some requests. If possible please include also the following information below during your trip. These are very helpful for us to have more ideas when we'll be having road trips along these Highways/roads soon. Thank you Route: Ok Travel Date: Actual Travel Distance: ?? Actual Travel Time (no.of hrs): Average Speed: ?? Fuel Consumption: ?? Car Brand/Model: (if you don't mind :))
actual travel distance is in the intro, actual average time depends though because of traffic, avg fuel consumption depends too and fuel consumption , as for car brand hehehe... i guess car enthusiast know these base on the hood , thank you for watching sir!
I know this road. I am from Bato. How fast were you driving? There was a few times that you over taken even on blind spots. To me that's reckless. Having been outside PI for a long time, I guess it's normal there in PI. Looking at the road through your camera, to me this road is very narrow and very dangerous. Ever since I was young bus accidents were not uncommon there. Until now I see (via TFC) occasional fatal bus accidents still happen at this road. I-ngat lang sa pag-drive. Were you using a GoPro camera?
it depends sir, sometimes asphalt road is like lifeless driving without impact, smooth and like floating... on the other hand concrete road is like asking for body pains (potholes uneven pavement). Maybe on the highway driving (toll roads) asphalt is better but on national roads concrete sounds fine.

As a frequent road traveller yourself, which road do you prefer? A concrete road or asphalt? especially during long drive like these?
it depends sir, sometimes asphalt road is like lifeless driving without impact, smooth and like floating... on the other hand concrete road is like asking for body pains (potholes uneven pavement). Maybe on the highway driving (toll roads) asphalt is better but on national roads concrete sounds fine.
lapit na ba sir naguilian sa halsema highway?
oyubalnilis hindi ata. Sa La Union ito papuntang Baguio. Yun Halsema sa may Trinidad Valley pataas
oyubalnilis, halsema highway starts at La Trinidad and Naguilian starts at Sablan...(check if it is correct).
go pro?
+Mark Quiru nope
Ilang sasakyan meron kayo???
How many kilometers from bauang to baguio sir ?
50 to 55 sir..
how long it takes to drive from bauang to baguio,is it 43 mins?
gutadin5 approx an hour or more sir depending on your driving habit.
+dmitrivalencia were you driving a Nissan Patrol or trooper?
gutadin5 nope sir neither of the two. lc200 :-)

Stay calm on the road and hope stop cursing. Lahat naman ng tao sa mundo nagkakamali.
