Watching from Dallas, Texas. All the roads and vicinity are all familiar to me since I grew up in Solano. Thanks for this joy ride to Banawe. Been to Banawe several times. When I go back home to the Philippines, I'll never see this places again. We're retiring in Davao City next year.

Amazing to see all the residences and businesses along side Bagabag road going to Banaue. There used to be only rice fields in 1980.

In my travels to Cagayan Valley in 1980 I’d always stop by a shanty on the side of the highway selling coconut ( malauhog my favorite) near that junction in Bagabag.

1980 I’d leave Solano at 6 am go to Banaue just to have breakfast, drink orange juice in Banaue Hotel, then hike at the back of a church below the town proper. And come down to Solano the same day. Happy day. Oh. I met a couple of exchange students there. We had fun. Also a German lady. Very nice.

Thank you for sharing. My daughter still remember some places that she visited in Bayombong, Solano and Baguio. There's no place like home.!!!!

Not sure about the direction caption at Bagabag junction. It says Left going to Isabela. That probably should say Right. At least that’s how I remember it. Coming from Solano I’d take left in Bagabag off the National Highway that connects to Isabela.
One time I gave direction in San Jose, Nuevo Ecija. I said just stay on the cemented road. That would take you all the way up to Aparri. Haha!

14:30 caption should read straight to Isabela. Left to Bagabag.

I was a medical representative with Abbott Laboratories assigned in Cagayan Valley from 1971 to 1978. When covering Nueva Vizcaya, I stayed at my uncle’s house in Solano. I have relatives in Bagabag. Went to Banawe 3 times during my 6 years in Cagayan Valley. I had some business at the Good News Clinic in Banawe. I don’t know if the clinic is still in operation, it was run by nuns. Noticed good roads now, during my stint in the Valley, rough roads and the usual closed traffic during the rainy season. My area of coverage includes Quirino, Isabela, Cagayan, Kalinga-Apayao, Ifugao, and Nueva Vizcaya. From 1978 to 1980, I was assigned to cover the Cubao area, Quirino Labor Hospital, Heart Center, Kamuning, Kamias, QCMC, Ortanez Hospital. Left for the U.S. in 1980, I’m now retired watching bloggers on TH-cam about the old country. Thank you very much for all your vlogs.

Lagawe is where I saw a whole cow cooked below ground to be fed to the whole neighborhood for wedding celebration.

1980 sometime 10 pm, coming down from Banaue, I was flagged down by four soldiers who needed a ride to Lagawe. They said they received information that NPAs were in Lagawe at the time. Scary situation for me.

Nice video sir it's very informative.
By the way, nag refuel ka sa Shell @4:37 of this video. After that saan ka nagpa refuel ulit ng Shell? considering na mahaba yong travel nyo, if I'm not mistaken from Banaue you were heading to Sagada and from Sagada deretso mo na rin to Bagiuo via Halsema Highway. May Shell station ba along the route? Shell kasi preference ko. salamat

After Solano, next refuelling is Shell La Trinidad just after the Municipal Hall which is about 280+Km between them. Check lang po ang fuel consumption ng vehicle & the fuel tank capacity leaning on the lowest recorded consumption para safe. Anyways po. merong Petron gas stations sa Sagada & Halsema Highway as well. Enjoy & have a safe trip Sir!!

Hindi ba rainy season sir during December ang Banaue-Sagada-Baguio areas? I'm planning to have a road trip kasi from Cebu on Dec 2017. worried lang sa landslides..salamat

Check mo lang Sir but made the trip 10 days before Christmas & we were blessed with good weather. Sa landslides po naman, try contacting the local NDRMMC of Banaue, Bontoc or Sagada before the actual trip to know of any instances. Driving in cold season at the foggy mountains is a new experience in itself po. Enjoy & have a safe trip!!
