    its not the tackling that is dangerous. it’s the form and lack of teaching the proper way to tackle that is dangerous.

      See what you hit and hit what you see. Its lowering your head and hitting with the crown of the helmet that results in injuries.

      They teach them the proper tackling techniques and there are plenty of penalties for it but sometimes it's either that they dont care abt da rules bc of anger or they need to make a quick tackle and they accidently lower their head

      @@cinco7984 Exactly. That is how I broke my back in three spots playing college lacrosse. Fractured T1, T2, T3 and still have not recovered fully after 3 years. You cant coach/referee these types of hits and stop them from happening. When you are on the field, things just happen and unfortunately, they can result in serious consequences. I signed up for this. I knew the risks. I made a bad play. I payed the consequences. Simple as that.

      Running your head into anything over and over again will cause brain damage or worse. All the arguing in the world will not change this science or common sense. Even children know this. It is the job of adults to keep children safe and not encourage this kind of behavior. If an adult wants to run their head into things then let them. A helmet will not keep your brain from slamming into the inside of your scull. Why is this so hard to understand?

    Honestly I think hiring rugby coaches to teach tackle technique or getting football players to watch tackling in rugby games would seriously help. In rugby, the lack of protective gear/padding/helmets has necessitated a real focus from youth level to the pros on how to tackle properly and safely but effectively as well. As some one who loves football and has played rugby all my life, I really think there are things the NFL, NCAA and youth football could learn from rugby and adapt to football

    All right. Listen. This is FOOTBALL. Big hits happen, injuries happen, and, in the saddest and worst case scenario, deaths happen. It's terrible but in a sport where you throw your body into another human being there is NO WAY to be "safe."
    Do I want people to get injured or die? Absolutely not, but these kids, young adults, and pros playing football should know the risks of playing a violent sport and are willing to accept the risks. You can work on your form for tackling, and you probably should, but when two men are running full speed at each other about to lay them out, you can't really control how you hit.
    If you want football to be a safe sport then take off the pads and put flags on your hips. Otherwise, suck it up and instead of getting yourself injured, injure someone yourself. This is football.

    • @guava727
      @guava727 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Or instead of trying to injure other players and ending up hurting yourself, make sure your players know how to tackle. So many hs players just run into guys head first trying to make a play. Wrapping people up isn't as cool as giving someone a concussion, but it's safer for both sides.
      I agree that taking away tackling is a dumb idea, but saying that the solution is to injure someone instead is idiotic.

    • @JakobKane55
      @JakobKane55 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Juiceton727 You missed my point; when two people are sprinting toward each other, that man holding the ball isn't just going to let you wrap your arms around him like coaches tell you to.
      To be clear, my point is there is no definite way to always tackle. Sometimes that 260 pound linebacker running full speed at a 220 pound running back will lay out that running back. When you're in that moment, you're not thinking about appropriate tackle techniques. You're thinking about stopping the ball carrier.

    • @guava727
      @guava727 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Jakob Kane I get that and agree, I just think there are too many guys out there that just torpedo into players.
      It's hard to have a clear message when you advise guys to injure players. That's the attitude that leads to guys getting killed out there.

    My grandson was tackled and hit HARD in the chest. He started acting strange on our way to my car and wanted to lie down in the back seat to sleep.
    I had him sit up front with me keeping him talking with stupid questions about the game. I drove him to a nearby fire dept. to get checked out. I was NOT taking him home until I knew that he was safe.
    His resting heart rate was 267! He was rushed to the hospital and stayed for 5 days. They couldn’t bring his heart rate down in the safe zone until the next day and the nurse told me if he’d have gone home to sleep he’d of had a stroke.
    People, listen to your instincts and if you feel something is off and you’re close to a fire dept. you can go in to get checked out. They’ll put themselves out of service (not dispatched to calls) and will focus on you.

      Alex Kiss take away helmets and use less pads, that's how to reduce football injuries, the only reason people lead with their head is because of the fact that they have a helmet on, I've played years of backyard football and have never seen 1 person lead with their head because nobody is that dumb, I played 3 years of high school football and saw I'd say at least 100 tackles where someone led with their head, less pads would make it so people would play more cautious and nobody wants to hurt themselves so they will always make clean tackles, I personally have had less injuries playing backyard football then i have playing high school football, 2 concussions and a fractured hand (crushed between 2 helmets/pads) I've probably played 5x more backyard football games and the worst I got there was a sprained ankle from a little dip in the ground, also broke my toe but that because a 300 lbs kid wore cleats and crushed it 30ft in the ground, I cant speak for everyone, i know there have been a good amount of broken bones in backyard football, but they heal, a helmet to helmet hit can cause death or permanent brain damage

    Football with no tackling is not even football. If you are in the NFL and there is no tackling you might as well be a professional Soccer player.

    Wtf you mean take tackling out of football altogether then it's not football. Oh let's take the bat out of baseball bc the possibility of it hitting someone in the head. It's the risk of playing sports of you don't wanna get hurt don't play the sport. All these days everything is about making everything save what's next instead of pads the players have to be rapped in 20 feet of bubble rap¿?

    Tackling doesn't cause injury or death, It's the form of how you do it. Most coaches aren't educating their players how to tackle the right way. So no it doesn't make sense and they're not gonna remove tackling.

    Rest in peace to everyone who has passed away from tackling, but removing tackling from High School football was probably the worst idea I've ever heard.
    Maybe instead of completely ruining the sport, forcing coaches how to teach players how to tackle would be a better alternative. Without tackling, football would be the most boring sport to watch.
