Thanks for posting the vid. As you suggest, the job looks to be pretty straight forward. I'm aware that the oil is shared with the overdrive unit (confirmed by the difference in fill quantities with/without) but have read on one of the forums that the overdrive unit harbours some oil (about 1/2 pint) when the box is drained, so to change that the OD has to be drained separately. Is this indeed the case or just hearsay? Thank you.
the OD definately wont be fully drained by just unscrewing the gearbox drain plug. maybe consider removing the OD filter cover to get more oil out to do a full refill
@@mgmidget-thebirthofaraceca4349 Thanks for the prompt response. I decided against disturbing any of the OD gaskets and just jacked the rear of the car up as high as possible to tip as much oil forward as I could. The old oil looked pretty clean but now that I have used the recommended grade (I used Penrite GB-40) the OD engages and disengages much more quickly, so a job well worth doing. Thank you for your advice.
Great information. Is there originally a strap from the long stud on the overdrive casing to the gear selector linkage?
Yes there is. Thanks for watching
New mechanic here - thanks this was very helpful
Glad it helped

I wonder how many and what results have been obtained using ATF?
Thanks for watching. Great question
