Good instructions, I bought two 6 footers Behlen gates at $ 179 a piece to replace 35 years old sagging redwood gates that were hella heavy . Got it done in 10 hours or one day including removing the old redwood gates and fixing the old 2 posts for Behlen metal gates Amazing how light weight the 6 footer Behlen gates are . And those 4 lag bolts are amazingly strong when I twisted them CW and CCW to level the gates Am very happy to find the Behlen products. And they are CHEAPER at $179 x 2 = $ 358 than chain link gates estimate at $ 980 because of 2 additional two 2 5/8. inches chain link metal posts and 6 bags 60 lbs concretes It’s much easier to install than chain link gates that require metal posts
Post holes were already dug, concrete was already poured, post’s were already set and leveled, and holes were already predrilled, but good instruction nonetheless.
You guys should also show how you install these gates to metal posts because they use different Hardware that people would like to see also I'm sure because I don't want to use wooden posts on the sides of my Gates because I live in a high fire danger area so I want to use metal for everything instead and I'm sure a lot of other people use metal posts also.
I would drill from the gate side of the post. That drill could walk quite a bit over 6 to 8 inches. Look at her angle when she powers up for that bottom hole. She would have ended up an inch low by the time she was through had the holes not been predrilled.
T.B.A.R,R.O This guy is an idiot first he said to level the post when he should have said plumb the post and you are correct drill from the gate side. the guy is just an idiot.
nice video instruction, thanks! question, how do you put the post down? jut dig a hole, put the post down and pour concrete around it and the post will stick to concrete when dried?
The quick setting concrete has instructions. Each brand is a little different but basically yes you dig the hole usually with an augur (2 man or tractor) to a depth at least 1/3rd the size of the post...then usually a layer of gravel then water + concrete then backfill it with dirt and level the dirt on a slope down so water doesn't sit against the post.
Great Instructions. Except for one point: I bought a Behlen 6 foot gate but the bolt hooks did not have the tabs to help hold in place. What the heck? Made it awkward for me (female) to hold steady in the hinge bracket.
It shouldn't be much of an issue with a small gate like this but if it's a big gate like 10 or 12 foot dont make it level. Leave it slightly lower on the side that attaches to the pole because it will sag over time. If done right then after a couple years and its sagged a few inches it should be pretty level
If the woman here doesn't know how to install a gate, that's not 'mansplaining' but rather 'instruction' or 'teaching'. He's not being condescending, just teaching her how to install a gate. Just because a man is the teacher doesn't make everything 'mansplaining' sweetheart.
For aesthetics, the same amount should be above ground as the anchor post. If that doesn't matter, than sink it as deep as you need to stop whatever animal might be pushing against the gate!
🆘🆘🆘🆘🆘 I have a rail road tie with Hugh double cattle gate it came with hinges so attached with the hinges trying to keep gate 1 inch above ground so cats can't get in and under house they ripp out insulation for bedding . Excellent video! Very helpful and answered some important questions about gate installation, leveling and adjustment.
I love the predrilled holes:)
I get my predrilled posts directly from the forest.
Holes were already predrilled. However, good instruction.
cfriskme thought I was the only one that noticed that.
Post holes were already dug, concrete was already poured, post’s were already set and leveled, and holes were already predrilled, but good instruction nonetheless.
l wanted to see how the holes were drilled horizontally & vertically spot on throughout a 8 inch pole
You left your socket on the bolt, on the last part.😂

I love how he shows mistakes to also love the socket gets stuck on bolt at end
Hope he went back and pulled that socket off. I hate it when that happens!

I saw that, but I think she leveled it off.

Chip free drilling, cool!

Fantastic video! Especially for a novice.
Nice video, ignore the trolls, haters gonna hate.

I like how she had the drill on counter-clockwise when drilling the bottom hole lol
Yes and the holes we're already drilled anyway
What is the distance from post to post on a 10’ gate
How did anyone do anything before TH-cam?
We winged it
Trial and error and doing jt 4x or asking grandpa

The best part is how she puts the drill into reverse when coming back out of pre drilled hole , otherwise nice video
How can I make my gate high off the ground
10:06 was the red gate level when its meant to be the dark grey one
Can’t believe you noticed that 😆
Excellent video; thanks!!
Level the post? Or plumb the post?
Thank you.
good thing the holes were pre-drilled!
This video should be called "Mansplaining 101"

How deep in the ground does the latch/chain side post have to be?
For aesthetics, the same amount should be above ground as the anchor post. If that doesn't matter, than sink it as deep as you need to stop whatever animal might be pushing against the gate!
minimum 96" for security.
i want that girl to do our installation videos.

I bet the cows walk around the gate since there isn’t a fence, lol.
This doesn’t tell me anything for what distance to actually set the posts at to accommodate the gate
What was the first type of country gate called? I prefer that one instead of the second one. I don't recall the name.
Cattle gate..
@@jaytodd5809 I meant the brand. I knew it was a cattle gate lol. They private messaged me and told me. I have done 6 gates since I asked this question a year ago :).

Video will only work for those who already have some understanding and not for the clueless. He has missed important details
She drilled holes that were already drilled lol
In case your still looking for the socket ,it's still on the nut on the gate. Lol
JUNK GATES!
Straight up and down is called plumb, not level.
Love the mansplaining. Only way it gets done.
Her: my turn, this is how you seperate laundry.
Him: you might as well be talking to that fence post
Must say she paid attention. Good video. I'm just a smart a
9:00 nice ratchet......
This is all good but you plumb up a post not level it
We don't have any concrete.. crap....
It is pronounced Measure. Not Maesure. However great instructional video. Thank you.
What the hell was the point of drilling already pre-drilled holes??
😂😂
you guys are pretty good fakers / actors.. she shuld be teaching the guy.
you shuld go back to school
dude she can't even drill a level hole in a post.
Dude seriously go back to school.
We provide various kinds of cattle panels & gates. Leave me a message if you need.
Where are you located. I need to battle gates
I used Stodoys instructions for this and I already did it :)
I plum my post, but you do you.
Plumb
You never use cement on a wood post.!!
never use a wood post.
why?
Did you use a metal post?
@@LJLLL 6" Pipe
You can use woodprix instructions to build it in the cheapest way.
Mansplaining
use woodprix, it has the best handbooks and ready instructions. You can learn much from them and make it yourself.
I bought plans from Stodoys and did it very quickly.
how heavy of a gate can you have on one 6" round wooden post?
