I'm guilty of this. I was in the ER in a ton of pain, and a nurse asked something that was completely obvious. I was rude, but immediately pulled back and apologized. The pain was unbearable but I had no right to be an ass to someone comforting me. She was so nice to me afterward and I made sure I was too

Yes, but you’re not a heroine addict, you’re just a normal kind decent person! I’ve never been thanked for administering Narcan, just cursed at for ruining their expensive high! Their gratitude is both inspiring and heartwarming! I don’t care, it’s water off a duck’s back. Next time, especially with the epidemic of Fentanyl overdoses, there might not be anyone to save them….and there’s always a next time. It’s sad really.

@@DankPushen That’s not quite the same as the young female heroine O.D. It’s understandable for a person in severe pain to be a little grumpy! And apparently you were even immediately remorseful…there a big difference! I bet ya 5 bucks that once your pain was relieved you were a completely different person and possibly even grateful? At least that’s been my firsthand experience (and quite common) especially if you’ve been waiting in that pain for ages with no knowledge of when someone is going to help relieve that pain.

I did half my X-ray internship at Mass General, now Boston Medical Center, and the other half at the VA. It was great working in a Level 1 trauma unit, I saw so many things and learned so much. Some of it was pretty bad and bloody, but MGH is one of the greatest hospitals in the world and most people recovered although for some it was a long road.

I would really like to know the difference between how the American blood sugar is decided against/ versus the Caribean version. Between 4 and 8 is normal here. At 21 you are at deaths door, below 4 you're in shock and coma and hospitalised? My husband had 3 hospitalisation due to his sugar being under 4 So someone please explain. He was comatose at the last one at 3.8 and kept in. My average is about 5/6 and I'm not diabetic. HELP with some information please

12:00. Years ago, I was visiting my late grandparents (RIP) in Sweden. We were all out in their backyard. I was sitting on the steps up to the rear of the house. My grandfather was on the top of a very high ladder picking apples. They had an immense garden and oodles of fruit trees. All of a sudden that ladder started to slip. I jumped from the top of the stairs to the bottom, ran over to the tree and grabbed that ladder within about two seconds. If I would have missed that ladder for any reason, my grandfather would have died. I do believe I saved his life. I was very close to my paternal grandparents. I don't remember my maternal grandparents that much because they passed in the 1970s when I was just a little boy. My paternal grandparents passed in the late 1980s so I still a lot of memories of them.

Very similar to the 1 patient, I fell a year ago from a tall ladder in the back of my house - allegedly (lol) while trying to paint my house. I sustained a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and some closed - small fractures of my skull, shoulder blade and several ribs, one which punctured my lung, leading to bleeding in there that restricted my breathing some. So they had to cut me there to drain the blood. They did a full scan of me, and put me in a drug induced coma, for better brain health, while they took over my breathing and watched to see how bad the head injury was. I was lucky, didn't require any surgery, the bleeding in my brain wasn't too bad, and resolved itself. But it was a bad enough TBI that I had to be kept in the coma for about a week, then brought out carefully, to get me breathing on my own again, then to pass a swallow test. Once I could communicate, I was repeatedly questioned (to determine my level and location of brain damage), about where I was, what day it was, who was President, what color something was, what happened. I was completely ignorant of the accident, and got many questions wrong (in the first week or so). I always felt fine, just a little sore where my ribs were broken. And, I have video of some early hospitalization, showing how bad I looked, black eyes, blood leaking from my ears and head. But due to a great trauma center, then transfer to a Rehab. Hospital for about 5 weeks, and w/ my family's daily support, I recovered almost completely, w/ just some mild double vision. I did have to be coaxed back to life, to balance and stand, then walk short distances, and was in a wheelchair for a week or so, while my balance improved. Physical rehabilitation was necessary, as not using your body for a few days make the muscles reduced, I think. Anyway, a tall ladder is not a place for most homeowners to be, and if you do, you'd better wear a bicycle helmet to protect your brain, the most important organ you have! Edit: And, the nurses who took care of me every day, who were patient w/ me as I tried to tell them I didn't belong there, were just great. While I was unconscious for several days, 1 of them - probably bored in babysitting me, and after they had gone through my hair looking for injuries, tied my hair in intricate rows. - When I came to, my hair felt like it was in knots. lol But in a hospital bed, there's no mirrors, and nobody says you look bad, so I didn't know what my hair was like for several days.

With the stabbed dude, He wasn't saying that because of the pain. He was worried about being off work for a month due to the incision in the abdomen due to possible infection and needs to let the cut abdominal muscle heal together so he doesn't get a hernia. He knew he would be off work for 4-6 weeks and he was afraid of then getting homeless, but he wasn't sure of how life threatening his injuries was. I have had a abdominal surgery go bad by a surgeon screwing up, but know his fears.

I LOVE THIS SHOW! Doctors and nurses have my sincerest respect! Awesome.
I had one bad experience. I was in for diverticulitis two different weeks. A female surgeon told me she saw I also had a small perforation in that area. She said she could do surgery and cut out a small section to fix all that. I told her that was fine. Then another doctor came up and said "I see you are here for diverticulitis" and then pointed to my side and said "I can put a port right there". I said for what? He said "for a colostomy bag". I said "Did my doctor say I really needed to have that done?" He said "You'll be able to eat whatever you want after I do that". I said "Did my doctor send you in here to tell me I really needed that? She told me she could do it with some surgery". He said "no" and I told him to "get out of here". She wrote on my file that that doctor was not to come near me or bother me. I was fuming a doctor would offer to perform a procedure I did not need.
A couple years later I went into the ER for a severely swollen leg and turns out pneumonia" That same doctor walked over and asked what was going on. I told him I have already been waited on by two other doctors and we were waiting on tests. He said "your leg is swollen what's going on here?" I pulled my leg away and told him I have already been waited on. He left through the curtains. The attending physician asked why I did that so I told him the story above. I don't like or trust that guy. Later I found out that doctor billed my insurance $200 for looking at my medical records initial consulation fee. They paid it. Anyway, he left the ER room. Then some nurse stormed in and asked what the problem was with him waiting on me, was is racial? WHAT? So I told the story again and pointed to the doctors side standing next to me and said I do not want him near me.
NOW I am afraid to death to go near that ER room if I would have to go. I'd drive about 20 miles to another facility just so I know he won't bother me again.

There’s an endless array of aspects of the healthcare industry that are frustrating, infuriating and befuddling. It’s one of the biggest aspects of the burden these amazing people choose to bear for the well being of complete strangers. A lot of people focus on the skill or training or intelligence of Dr’s and nurses and for that matter first responders, but I’ve always focused more on the burdens they choose to carry that they wouldn’t need to bear in countless other professions. It’s the selfless part that is most impressive to me. It takes a certain type of person to make the choice to live that life without it destroying them over time, not everyone can do it.

Yes I felt sorry for her, but u don't know what happened in her life to cause her to use drugs. While I'll admit I've had a horriffic childhood then most and never turned to drugs, I can see how it would happen. I'm so alone and if not for my dogs and kitty, I wouldn't be here still.
So dont judge and pretend u know someone. Just be thankful that u r okay and reach out to help those who aren't instead of passing judgment.

@@guardiansanimalrescuestate7289 It doesn't matter. People need to be accountable for their behavior. Drugs or not. I can sympathize with the fact she's an addict, but that doesn't give you the right to be belligerent with medical staff. I get so tired of seeing these, "You don't know what she's been through" posts you see any time someone in one of these shows goes off the rails and starts flipping out. Guess what? Everyone has problems. Everyone has emotional baggage. Stop making excuses for poor behavior. I've known plenty of addicts who still have common decency to treat people with respect, withdrawals or not.

    • @ZieSpiralOut
      @ZieSpiralOut ปีที่แล้ว

I agree with you except don’t call her a stupid druggie. Call her an entitled ahole because that’s what she is. I’m a recovering addict and have worked with many other addicts, and we don’t deserve to be lumped in a box with that lady. Some addicts are the nicest people you could ever deal with and some are the worst. Just like every group of people, the individual is always different than others and it is not fair to prejudge.

We Australians measure in mmol/L, whereas Americans use mg/dL. Current research shows that 3-9 in a non-diabetic patient is healthy, or 5-7 in a diabetic patient. 5.5 mmol/L is100 mg/dL.

5:17 I just adore the attitude of the female heroine overdose (victim?)!You saved her life but they get so pissed at me for Narcan(ing)/Naloxone(ing) their expensive high away! The gratitude I’ve received is so heartwarming! And apparently….consistent, especially with the amount of Fentanyl overdoses we get these days.
11:20 That is not the outcome I was hoping for the narcotic addict. She was likely in such a desperate state that she made an attempt at suicide rather than suffer her narcotic withdrawal….sad but not exactly surprising. I have sympathy for her but I detest the evil bastards that sell this crap to anyone with money. That’s all they care about and the widespread suffering it causes…they couldn’t care less about the misery a young girl like her goes through every single day just to get money by any means (usually prostitution) to pay these evil parasites!

It's because they are in a relaxed state because of the drugs. They go floppy. Same as when drunk drivers crash a car the driver usually lives and the sober people die.
