    I would have chosen a brighter color or a different lighted setting for this review can barely see the details of it from sun glare.
    Personally gonna get 4x4 zz71 crush orange, with a lot of the bells and whistles.

    Question, I thought the z71 package was the standard off road 4x4 set up for a chevy. But i see Z71's that are not 4wd and makes no sense to me. Im still leaning towards these trucks as they are better deals for what you get than the new to the USA ford rangers.

      Hey Bedford great question! Since around 2014 any GM vehicle with the Z71 Off Road pkg (Now called X31 on GMC's) pretty much universally add: Skid plates, Rancho Shocks, G80 Auto locking differential (aka Eatons/Detroit locker) and Z71 exterior badging and specific interior enhancements. In both the midsize and full size trucks you can get the Z71 pkg in a 2WD configuration. My first truck was a 1988 Silverado RWD reg cab truck with a G80 Auto locking differential and I never got struck once. I did lots of off road driving on old logging roads when hunting but I didn't go MUDDING or go out to the DUNES with it, lol, you need the ZR2 Colorado for that crazy stuff!

      @@WesternGMDrumheller Thank you very much for the detailed explanation. I have owned and two Z71 trucks and one is my current driver. Avalanches to be specific. First one was a first gen built in 01, sold new in 02, I bought it from an older man that was a family friend and he gave me a deal. IT was an awesome truck for me. I put close to 200k miles on it and all I did was change oil on time every time, tires, brakes, a water pump and a fuel pump. Rest all stock. No cracking dash! I sold it for my current one which is an 08 Z71. They get crappy MPG but, well built, strong frame, overall good motor. I hope to be able to get a New truck again one day, that is the only way I will get back the performance and durability I had then. And I am leaning hard to these Colorado's.

      The current gen Colorado's (2014 - 2020) are a great vehicle, I hear half way through this year we are going to get a refresh (not a whole redesign) which I can't wait to see. IMO the interior needs some updating but the drivetrain is great! We have only taken a few in on trade with over 200,000kms the one had all hwy kms on it and drove out great! The other one was work used on a lot of gravel roads and the engine, transmission and 4x4 operated perfectly but the body was chewed up from the gravel, he should have put the big HD flaps on it instead of the factory plastic ones that were basically chewed up. Appreciate the comments! PS LOVE the Avalanche!

    Very good review, first person to mention the rear auto-locker I was unaware these trucks were equipped with them.

    So crazy how this is soo different from
    My 2020 Holden Colorado 2.8 lsx. I like the back of this a bit more than mine. But it’s a nice pick up.

    does off-road package in any way hurt ON-road performance. In other words, is there a trade-off for the better off-road performance?

    • @007convicted
      @007convicted 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      teller121 yes but it’s so minor most wont notice. The Z71 option on all GM Trucks adds a stiffer upgraded shock so little bumps/clips on the highway will be felt a little more than the standard mono tube shock. This stiffer shock helps with bigger bumps and dips when off roading. Hope this helps.

      @@007convicted thx...also, as to ride quality, taking it up a notch along same line of thought, does zr2 set-up, tires, elevation (compared to z71) compromise road comfort for better off-road...if you know?

    • @007convicted
      @007convicted 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      teller121 elevation editions do not come with A/T aka aggressive tires so the elevation editions would have a good ride quality. The ZR2 is a whole other beast, it has a segment exclusive DSSV autoweek.com/article/technology/what-heck-dssv-stuff-anyway would increase the ride quality but the aggressive A/T tires on the ZR2 would give you a slightly tougher ride than if it had normal All Seasons but I’d venture to say the DSSV is so amazing that the ZR2 has the best on road ride quality.
