Wow, I remember watching this 7 years ago when I was a Jetstar engineer. Fast forward to today and I'm now an airline pilot. I'll see me in another 7 years I guess!
hello sir, just wondering did you become airline pilot through flight school ? and in australia do you need to have atpl in order to become a airline pilot ?
I always approach and touch down with the heels of my feet on the floor so I have good leverage on the rudders. The manual wheel brakes are applied using the top of the rudders with your toes. You don`t want the manual brakes on during touchdown, so heals on the floor is good. I use auto-brakes after touchdown and during the initial roll-out. So when I transition to manual brakes, I guess I grab the glare shield when I lift my feet up to apply manual brakes for the turn off the runway. - Stan
I'm A Sydney born living in Adelaide. I used to holiday with relatives, as a young boy, in leichardt. Earliest memories are of watching the Fuselage of Jumbos flying so low i felt i could just about touch them. Now i can see the flight path from Gladeville Bridge, over Leichardt, & on to SYD Airport
This is absolutely outstanding, thank you! It is really nice that some pilots are able to share the otherside of the flight deck door for those of us that love aviation but aren't pilots. I think it does you and your profession great credit. I hope for many more like it!
These off-center POV's are better at relaying the real sense of speed of the plane as it's landing. Center mounted cameras create the illusion that the plane the going very slowly. These work better for my eye. Nice vid.
None taken! :) Oh...I've been around the internet since 1993...helped set up one of the first ISPs in Canberra: we started with 14x9600baud modems. :D Brings back memories now I think of it. back then we had DOS 6.0 and Windows 3.1 came on 21 1.44Mb floppies. Took forever to install! You youngsters have it easy. :)
+Mark Nicol Who is Malcolm Turnbull ? Malcolm Bligh Turnbull (born 24 October 1954) is the 29th and current Prime Minister of Australia. He became prime minister and Leader of the Liberal Party in 2015 and has been the member of parliament for Wentworth since 2004.[2] Turnbull attended Sydney Grammar School before going to the University of Sydney, where he received a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws. He then attended Brasenose College, Oxford, as a Rhodes Scholar, where he attained a Bachelor of Civil Law. Before entering politics, Turnbull worked as a journalist, lawyer, investment banker and venture capitalist. In 1993, he became the chairman of the Australian Republican Movement, serving in the position until 2000. Briefly Minister for the Environment and Water in the Howard Government in 2007, Turnbull was elected Leader of the Liberal Party in September 2008, becoming Leader of the Opposition. In November 2009, his support for the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme proposed by the Rudd Government split the Liberal Party, and in a ballot the following month Turnbull lost the leadership to Tony Abbott by one vote. Initially intending to leave politics, Turnbull remained in parliament and eventually became Minister for Communications in the Abbott Government in September 2013. On 14 September 2015, after consistently poor opinion polling for the government, Turnbull challenged Abbott for the leadership and won the subsequent ballot by 10 votes.[3] He was sworn in as prime minister the following day and formed the Turnbull Government.[4]
Absolutely beautiful footage of YSSY, just stunning, thankyou so much for letting us see this. Such a shame the days are gone of letting people ride in the jumpseat or letting kids visit the flight deck. Huge Thumbs up.
Thank you so very much for posting this marvellous video. I love Sydney, one of the best cities in the world. Populated by some of the friendliest, most down to earth and Straightforward people it has been my pleasure to meet.
Amazing !! What a totally unique angle. Beautiful job ! The tension on your face sure reveals how exacting the landing be, especially at touchdown !! It was great to hear we were on Air Canada !! I called Vancouver home once. At that time a one bedroom apartment on Comox was $250 a month hahaha !!
I have flown with ACA34/33 Sydney to and from Vancouver and it was nice to be with you on the flight deck. The B777 looks like a dream to fly. And you only scratched once.
I'm impressed with your continuous spacial-awareness>>>you utilizing all your senses and flying skills to bring that bird safely down. There is a A380 video on youtube, the Pilots arrogantly state they don't have to look out the Windshield (for other aircraft, etc) during takeoff or landing regardless of weather conditions..............and they never do...they instead being fixated on their laptops, what they are eating, etc
Thank you sir for this high quality footage of your fantastic workplace. Would really like to hear both crew and ATC conversations to provide further perspective on what's happening on the flight deck.
Stan knows what he is doing !!! I'm flying from Syd to Darwin soon hope you're the pilot Stan....Oh buy house down the track in the Gong it's a lot cheaper than Sydney and better beaches as well !
i used to live in sydenham.. just as the 500 m warning is heard I saw my old street, the park where all the houses were brought by the government and pulled down. Nice video.
You can easily tell its ACA because in the bottom left you see the tail number of C-FIUJ which in google comes up with an Air Canada 777, besides the fact that most (if not all) Canadian aircraft have a "C" and a dash and letters

How many rudders are there in your case?
What type of aircraft exactly as some have more than one rudder, particularly Military Aircraft.
@@andrew_koala2974 C-FIUJ is an Air Canada Boeing 777-233(LR).
