    If you want to do a before and after having watched the whole thing, then
    A = 2:42
    B = 19:50

    • @SubscribersWithoutAnySubscribe
      @SubscribersWithoutAnySubscribe 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Kind of an unfair comparison since B is much louder. To make it fair you should bring the volume down by about 60% for the second one.

    awesome video! I have a workflow suggestion, my two cents after 20 years on logic.
    Rather than sending groups of instruments to busses, set up a shortcut for Track Stack in Logic. for me it's apple shift T. It not only busses them and labels that bus after the trackstack, but also puts them in a track stack in your arrange window which is collapsable. Its a game changer. This is great for printing stems, mixing, and when you are done with a section you can collapse it down. My mixes now all look like anywhere between 4-10 stems which I can then open up if I need to get at a kick in my "drums" group.
    Another one is using gain utility for automation, that way the fader is free for mixing levels at the end without being snapped to the automation, also good when doubling sounds and quick re-levelling as you did with the EXS-24.
    Massive respect for your channel, its brilliant and I wish you every success with it.

    Great stuff, as always. Baffles me that Christian's channel averages only around 5k views per video - this is by far the best thing on the net - where IS everyone? Whilst I can't deny enjoying having this seemingly secret corner of the internet to ourselves, that seems to attract sane, reasonable people that come here for genuine and positive reasons, I feel for Christian who must look at other channels, and the unfathomable popularity of the inane drivel that constitutes most of the rest of TH-cam, and scratch his head as to what he has to do to reach a larger audience. Thank you Christian - your output is truly humbling.

      RLeaguer2 Completely agree with you. With the educational nature of many of these videos, and his standing as a composer; I’d imagine these videos will probably pick up a lot more views in terms of years/decades. Most of this info will still be relevant as technology changes and the rest would be adaptable to a future audience I’d guess.

    • @maximiliangockel
      @maximiliangockel 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's still very niche

    • @RLeaguer_Saint
      @RLeaguer_Saint 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Maximilian Gockel Perhaps, but no more so than say Rick Beato’s or JXL’s channel (that I also think are wonderful), but has far higher views (maybe just a question of time?). I’m sure Christian would say it’s not about the number of views/subscribers, but the quality of the debate it stimulates. I can appreciate that, but ultimately, it’s still a numbers game to generate a quorum. I just don’t know what else he can do though: his videos are interesting, honest, passionate, helpful, insightful and entertaining. How do you improve on that? Would love to hear from Christian, perhaps in a vlog, his thoughts on whether he feels its going in the direction he wants and getting the recognition and appreciation it deserves. Hope he continues to do so anyway for a long time to come.

    • @maximiliangockel
      @maximiliangockel 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I totally agree with what you said about his channel, it's pure gold. However, I actually think that Christian's dealing with a lot more nichey stuff, which is orchestral music and media composing. Rick Beato is covering a LOT of genres, it's not really a vlog and Junkie XL is just well known beyond the industry. I love Christian's approach, I don't think it needs improvement, views aren't a measure of quality.

    Thanks for sharing this! Yes please, I'd love to see more videos like this as well, they're so helpful. This was really inspiring because I tend to struggle when mixing ambient tracks like these, because there is way too much of every frequency and I sometimes find it hard to shape that wall of sound properly. Thanks again and I look forward to the next :D

    Hell yes Christian! Show us more of your working time!!! Honestly between yours and Pauls mixing videos today; it’s inspired a whole expansion for me with my ideas and concepts for production. It’s just little bits here and there; little nuggets of ideas and inspirations that can make such a huge difference.
    In terms of your misfortune with your interview. Sorry to hear about that. These things happen though. The reason I watch your videos is for the knowledge bombs, ideas and inspiration. But I found my way here from the main Spitfire channel. You guys have helped create this online community; and for guys like me, its a legitimate life line. I sit in a room on my own day after day working my ass off; very rarely see other human beings because of it, let alone other composers. As you’ll know; a bit further down the chain, it can be tough, lonely and at times with bags of self doubt. Eventually I’ll get out of that and make it to some composer parties/summer drinks and all that; but for now leaving long rambley comments; and watching other human beings further up the food chain offer up pearls of wisdom is as good as it gets. The reason I keep coming back is because you guys seem genuine and sincere; and while your not like the top of the top in the composing industries; you are working professionals and certainly experts in your fields. Seeing your workflows and work ethics is in some ways better and more educational than seeing how the Hans Zimmers of the world do it. Mainly because everyone wants to know those guys secrets. But the everyday composing stuff, that infos harder to come by, and is going to take a composer further and faster. The lifestyles, the industries; the tips and tricks. Outside of the Spitfire products; you and Paul are giving us all a lot; and it really does help. I’ve learn’t more actionable/useful info from you since you started this channel than I did with 3 years at an ok music college. Back then this kind of insider info just wasn’t accessible for more than the lucky handful of understudies and protégés. I’d put money on it that in 10 or 20 years some big deal composers will say they started out watching your videos. I say I’d put money on it; but I’m a composer, and I spent all my money on shiny synths.

EQ carving is something I try to relay to projects I 'was' formerly in but they always wanted everything full spectrum, and it all ended up muddy and way bassie. Watching you work, and hearing the differences with EQ carving is amazing! More like this! Great music!

    Of all the channels I subscribe to yours is the only one I watch religiously. I have watched every video you have produced either here or on the main Spitfire channel. Why? Well other than the great content it's because I find you so affable, honest and personable. You don't have to produce this content but you choose to as, I believe, you genuinely believe in giving back to those who have helped you/Spitfire achieve so much.

    A quick glance into your mixing n quick mastering insight is always surely helpful in these vids, as I feel one can never learn enough on mixing and mastering, especially composers these days who have to hand in finished products more than often these days. From a composition view though, it is always interesting to see how u compose these little cues in some of your videos using your own Spitfire libraries, since many of us watching here own many of these Spitfire libraries, and it is interesting to see how u approach different patches and instruments in some of these libraries in a composition. Beautiful sounds here. Reminds me of Hans Zimmer`s Dunkirk score, especially the piece entitled, "Variation 15".

    Thank you! I do find watching and listening to actual work invaluable (as opposed to talking about it)
