    These products help greatly but they are no magic pill. Stoping the bleeding is one step. You have to still go through life saving steps where the situations requires. Such as elevation of legs, direct pressure to wounds, treating for shock etc...

    • @Pugrug.
      @Pugrug. 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Well these products help do that, you can’t really elevate an armpit or the groin or neck. And if you can stop the bleed fast enough you might not have to worry about shock or hypothermia but you should still treat it.

      They kind of are a magic pill, they have the ability to quickly stop any kind of severe bleeding, 10 to 20 years ago, this was not something that could be done on the battlefield, if you took a shot to a vital area, your chances of survival were extremely low, especially in the middle of gunfight where you would of had to wait hours, perhaps days to receive the life saving treatment you needed. with Celox, you could take a hit from a rifle calibre round to the thigh, have a severe bleed, get it sorted by yourself in up to three minutes and get back in the fight, if you so choose. (When I say back in the fight, I mean holding a prone position and returning fire) that’s a big game changer.

    I Owen some of these and the granules with applicator yet on another TH-cam video the medic says there no more efficient than regular gauze and wound packing which I find hard to believe. Would they still work out of date? Same video said they only have about a 3-5 year shelf life is this incorrect?
    Thank you great product a literal lifesaver!

    • @DiveWithBart
      @DiveWithBart ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That is incorrect according to the current guidelines and research. Celox RAPID would be preferred over applicator as applicator was show to at times require multiple doses. All of this is available on the MFG website. 3-5 year shelf life is correct due to the bio polymer agent (It is listed on your package). Even NAR's TQ's have a 10 year shelf life. I would recommend attending a class where an instructor can answer your questions in an official capacity. Beyond that the TCCC Guidelines are available publicly, which would also give you answers to your questions as well as reviewing the product sheets instead of relying on just youtube videos where it can be difficult to validate the information you are receiving.

    OK, I'm not military but do first aid on construction sites, camps, pulp mill takedowns etc so am potentially quite a way from a higher level of medical treatment.
    So in this case, firstly make sure the scene was safe or get the casualty out of the line of fire. Re treatment of that injury, expose and use Celox Rapid. It is quicker to work. With other injuries you may not have time to give 3 minutes for direct pressure. As a second option maybe use Rev MDX injectable sponges, Look them up.
    I wouldn't cut off the extra, just pack it up into a pile then use an Israeli bandage right away. Encapsulating both sides of the IB with a wrap the going around the pressure bar, reversing direction and reefing down on it. If that wasn't enough pressure, use the closure bar as windlass to apply more pressure.
    Enclose packaging.

    • @DiveWithBart
      @DiveWithBart ปีที่แล้ว +1

      3 Minutes is the TCCC Guideline, Celox rapid resulted in clotting in 60% of the patients in the first minute during a swine trial (Although this appears to be (but not researched in all) true of any Chitin based agents, due to the fact they ignore natural clotting factors). Of those 60 percent all the clots held while moving the patient. Its important to recognize that situations are dynamic and require flexibility, so a Trauma Dressing such as an Israeli or FTD are a good idea if the situation requires such flexibility. But also important to note that the actual recommendation is made by people far better educated on the topic than you and I. This shit is constantly evolving, and trickles in taking years to reach EMS and longer to reach First Aid. Be careful about making recommendations to the general public. Even if well intentioned it can do more harm than good.

    Why should the remaining gauze be removed while bandaging? Wouldn‘t it be better to just leave it in there?

    • @sdunned7842
      @sdunned7842 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Because normal gauze is basically just cloth, this application has a gell which clots the blood so that instead of blocking blood flow it begins the "natural healing process" on its own. Some gauze disintegrates to allow the body to do its thing and heal, instead of blocking it. Im no doctor but from what I've learned, only use regular gauze on top of the celox to serve as a way to stop the excess blood which will bleed through the celox. Hope this makes sense.

    so tell me why celox is better than quickclot, not being a smartass, I and many others REALLY want to know so we can make an informed decision as to what to use and how it compares.

    • @epicgamer3614
      @epicgamer3614 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Celox is independant of the bodys regular clotting factor.
      Quickclot merely speeds up the bodys blood clotting system for helping the wound recover it does this by containing clotting factors.
      This can pose an issue as the bodys clotting system may be damaged from the wound which can reduce quick clots effectiveness drastically.
      Celox is better because it absorbs the blood fluid and helps form a gel like substance to help close the wound thus it is independant of the bodys blood clotting system making it more reliable.

    Any idea is it better to use Celox Gauzea OR a tourniquet to stop bleeding ? thanks

    • @markusfelon
      @markusfelon ปีที่แล้ว +2

      usually gauze should be enough to stop the bleeding, however if it doesn't help or you don't have it on hand a tourniquet is the next option

    • @Bruh-d
      @Bruh-d 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If it's a wound on your body I think a combo of Tourniquet and then apply the Celox Gauze after you secure the limb with a Tourniquet |Although I have 0 Medical Experience, it just makes sense to me based on how the Celox Gauze is said to pack the wound itself and seal it, compared to a Tourniquet which stops blood-flow to the limb all-together, which can cause limb-lost if it is used for a prolonged time (although kind of unlikely, still is good to not have to rely on the Tourniquet for a long period of time)
      (Since you risk passing out if you try to do the Gauze by itself, if the Gauze works correctly you should be able to loosen the Tourniquet and check if it has stopped the bleeding, if it has stopped then you can remove the tourniquet or leave it loosened to allow blood flow to the limb, if it hasn't stopped then firmly re-secure the Tourniquet and wait for additional help)
      Also I'm pretty sure that would be one of the things used in Step 2. Which is Control the Bleeding.. Anyway take it with a salt shaker though since I have no experience and I'm just going off of what way sounds to be the most effective based off of the info I know (from the video and from prior baseline knowledge)@@sultanaljuhani1571

    • @doms.6701
      @doms.6701 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      And I'd rather have a taped leak than nothing. The point of this is for the combat zone and when the wound is unable to be TQ. You go ahead and bleed out if you want. Or fiddle with a TQ that won't work. I'd rather plug it and get to doc.
