I still remember my first The Long Dark run on survival mode, a while back now. Watching this brings me back. Everyone who is a fan of survival games have to try this at least once. The game may look bland at first look. But when you play for yourself the game have this «low-key tension» in the air, helped by sneaky wolves and even more sneaky bears. You owe it to yourself to try this survival experience!
Ah, yes. The natural reflex to trauma. I remember stubbing my toe once, and when I tried to get to the couch I started backpetaling at mach 50 and suddenly being in Mexico before strafing 2 lightyears to the left.
Takes me back to my early days with this game. Enjoy it while you're still new to it, my dude, it truly is a unique experience. Now that I became good at it... it's still fun alright, but not the same as it used to be. I say, being a noob at some game is the most beautiful experience you can imagine.
I love this game so much, been playing it for years. But I've lost the feeling of playing it for the first time. Now that I know the map by memory and know how to survive, I don't have the stress of surviving as much as new players. But when I first started playing, it ended poorly lol. I was on the coastal highway map, and got caught in a blizzard, out on the ice, and still had to dodge wolves. I wound up going in circles and freezing to death.

Oh man, yes!!! Would pay for DLC with coop for this game....and for games like Metro or Stalker as well. Those would be so glorious as well with trusty buddy at your side!
You can get a mod that allows you to play multiplayer for PC. It is unstable but it works. I can shoot you a link to the Discord where you can download the mod.

I’ve played for a for a about 150 hours or so and I can confirm it is a damn good game, with a great fan base and a better dev than many of the other games I’ve seen like it. Give it a go on voyageur, it’s plenty fun.

This game taught me not to fear the bears but instead to watch out for the moose. Those Chad's will not hold back if you don't have any weapons.
Fun fact. The sweet spot on the bear he was talking about is actually the bears right eye and gets harder with each lesser weapon you use.
Hands down, one of the best, immersive survival games I've played
