- The new Looney Tunes show is causing quite a stir among Looney Tunes fans. The Nostalgia Critic, a fan himself, decides to dive in and see if it's really worth the hate.

I actually agree with Critic on this one. owo I feel like it's missing a certain hard hitting "Looneyness" that the old cartoons had, but it's actually surprisingly enjoyable. I went in expecting it to be bland, but as much as it's lacking it delivered more than I expected.
Customer Service, btw, is indeed a pretty awesome episode, as is Daffy's whole "Wizard" thing.
First off, he botched it by saying Duck Dodgers was bad. Second, Lola is the worst part of the change up on this show because, and I'm sick of his obsessing on the Jessica Rabbit Mark II aspect of her from Space Jam, her maturity and intelligence which was present even in Baby Looney Tunes and in Lexi in Loonatics is gone in place of a psycho-nutjob. They could have easily made her into a knockoff of Morgana from Darkwing Duck if they wanted to make her funny. Still, I do like this show.

I always found the new show boring, just couldn't get into it for some reason

I have seen this show a few times and I remember thinking wow I'm glad they gave Lola character outside of just the girl that bugs falls for just because that's how it's always been

yes me too but I think he was just saying that the other spin offs never got hated as much as this show. I personally don't hate shows because their different even if they seem to ruin the series. if it's fun to watch then I don't care.
I recently realized that the nostalgia critic an editorial instead of an episode this week but whatever I like the editorials just as much.

Forgive me for stereotyping here, but the only ones who would truly complain about Lola's change in character are the more extreme of either furries (no, not bashing all of you, some anthro fans are actually nice people) or anime fans (again, not bashing, cuz "I are one").
Yes, Lola was a blatant sex symbol in Space Jam. But in the end, what would you rather see? Pamela Anderson, or a cross of Elaine (Seinfeld) and Rose (Two and a Half Men)? The ONLY thing SJ Lola had was character design.

me too. it was a good action version of the looney toones. they gave each character powers that could be derived from their base version. except for maybe daffy.
whats funny and maybe I'm looking to deep in this editorial but to me Doug's comments could also be for the new NC videos. The New Nostalgia Critic videos have longer sketches, a NC who analyzes films more then he used to, but I will admit some of his jokes dont hit even one with good potential. Also there are whining fanboys about Doug's new nostalgia critic style. Maybe its just me but this seemed to be talking about the new nostalgia critic style as well the Looney Tunes.
Since her intro in 1996, Lola has been either loved/hated. Personally, I find her "sex symbol" shape no more a digression than that of the [oddly apt named for THIS argument] Jessica Rabbit; but since Betty Boop, there have been sexualized toon girls. True, she's more manic (& thus comedic) here, but they tweaked/updated ALL of the toons for a new audience; same thing they did with Tiny Toons in the 90s. And I thought Lunatics Unleashed was a cool way to update our characters with an X-men Twist

I don't see what the problem is with the new Looney Tunes. Yes, it's not the same as the old ones that were made back in the 30's to the 60's, and honestly, they have yet to make an episode that touches on the pure brilliance that is Duck Amuck. But still, it's good in it's own right. If they just tried to rehash what the old cartoons did, all anyone would complain about is how the series is stale and unoriginal instead of a "betrayal" to the old show by trying to be something new and different
i couldnt see her as a sex symbol, the guys in the show certainly did but she despised it, one of the key reasons she hated being called doll and she defiantly had the attitude of a tomboy. besides she could be looney as well especially after Bugs kissed her. And what personality? she is just insane and a stalker, if anything that is just really creepy. to take a girl who had attitude and skill and turn her into... that. why didnt they just make a different character?
I have yet to see a full episode, but I have seen a few clips and they made me laugh. I think the gripe I have is that it just doesn't feel like the Looney Tunes anymore. I do sort of agree with Doug on how the characters have to evolve, but since the biggest complaint is that fans felt that it was a betrayal of our favorite characters, could it have still worked if it was just a regular animated sitcom with original characters, or would people have just overlooked it?
well dude bottom line 39 years and what i get its this? everyone have done most of the jokes i have seen so far, and they are doing it wrong, the personalities of the looney tunes varely represents what they were, if they are gonna change fucking everything except for the name and designs then why bother with a reboot? and if i have to skip most of the episodes and change the channel everytime i see something in specific that "sometimes" appears in it, i think something its wrong dont you think?
and...thats a good thing? a hint: "ITS NOT" and yeah kudos to warner for transforming a bland character into a unfunny punchline of a character, from the same company that bring us Penny from big bang theory, and the worse part, she is not even the reason why this show sucks so hard, its the fucking musical numbers, they should put a warning before they start "avoid sharp objects while watching this"
Can you honestly name a cartoon that didn't have at least one stereotype? Every show has then, from people that wear glasses are geeks to fat people love to eat. You NEVER see shows were the geeks are actually all-star athletes or were fat people have thyroid problems. While Lola doesn't have hardly any character, she's still funny and WAY better than being portrayed as a sex symbol for kids. I found myself way more interested in the characters than the humor.
Personally I never really had a big problem with any of the looney toons shows except for loonatics unleashed. I thought that Duck Dogers was ok, well done. (there was an actual cartoon made of it in the original looney toons) As for Baby Looney Toons I just thought it was a real cute show, and Tiny Toons was a good show in my opinion.
i don't think Lola was ever a tomboy. she was a sex-symbol in Space Jam, had no personality so there was nothing to work with, she was just there for the sake of needing to put in a sexy female character. In this she is 'loony' like the rest of them, and funny, and actually has a ton of personality. I really think Lola makes this show.
I like the new Lola. She isn't a female version of Bugs. Which she was in Space Jam. I understand that you may see the loss of that tomboy persona as a minus. But she really rattles Bugs. I believe they based her character on Gracie Allen/ Mary Tyler Moore/ Lucille Ball. I like Witch Hazel's new voice. Oh I love Space Jam no matter what the Critic says.
I thought the personalities were similar... daffy is still a scumbag, porky still has communication problems, pepe is still a hopeless romantic (though i cringed when he said he was married many times.) Just hitting the mute button sometimes doesn't bother me. They made a reboot because I'm assuming there was a demand for it. What would you do if you were in charge of a reboot?
Well dude the bottom line was they had to try something new. After 39 years and probably thousands of skits, they couldn't rehash old hash. I don't care for the music either, but not all episodes have them and I just skip them. I never stick around for the 3D roadrunner shorts either. The musicals and one bland character don't seem like enough to call a whole show bad to me.
The problem I have with this new series is its visual design. In the past, even the sellout iterations, Looney Tunes' characters have always mixed with the backgrounds. Now, it looks like they were just plastered on it after the backgrounds were done, looking very amateurish.
CN only has one live action show ATM and it's on the edge of cancelation, and a bunch of launch pilots were accidentally leaked online, several of which are announced to turn into new shows. Most of em have potential too.
I really like this show; I wanna see much more of it. I mean: Looney Tunes meets Seinfeld; what's not to like? Does it have flaws? Sure, but can you guys honestly say most of the other stuff on Cartoon Network is better?
I never understand the critic's complaint about "bunny boobies" since Lola is a female you would expect a female to have tit regardless of species, hell the female Transformers have breasts but no one ever complained about that.

Yep! Cartoon Network didn't completely give up the stuff that made their channel great in the first place. It still have some pretty weak shows but regardless of that it still has really enjoyable ones.
It is utter rubbish compaired to the original ones there is no violence any more either. Thats what made them amazing the sheer violence that used to happen in a joke or to daffy 70% of the time
Ill sit down and watch it if it's on, but one complaint i do have is that the way they're drawn compared to before can be a little distracting for me. Overall it does have a good setup
I think the show is just okay I did not really care for the other looney tunes shows besides the original but since there is a bunch bad things on tv I do watch it occassionally.
I swear I saw people saying that the old Lola was better. The fact that she was completely hollow didn't register to them. For some people nostalgia is just an excuse to bitch.
he likes LOLA like this? They turned a no nonsense tomboy into a crazy girly girl. that was the main reason i hate this show. And i thought Loony Toons Unleashed was a great spin off

Yes because people have been proven to love stupid, absent-minded characters. That's why there's an inundation of them in animation. CN just follows trends nowadays, and doesn't set them.
Eh, opinions are opinions. I'm not really into this series as much as I should be for somewhat personal reasons, but that's just me. This series is incredibly flawed and there are some changes that I'm not too happy with, but I still think it was a pretty decent adaptation.
And I agree as much as the next guy, Lola in this version is MUCH, MUUUUCH better than the Space Jam version.

Space Jam's Lola was probably the DULLEST character ever committed to film,
the phrase "No-nonsense" should NEVER be applied in Looney Tunes (TUNES, not Toons) she had NO personality beyond "she likes basketball, and she has tits"

just because she played basketball (which was more a product of the movie she happened to be introduced in rather than a product of her non-existent personality) doesn't mean she's a tomboy.

Those who complain about Looney Tunes being domesticated in this show should watch Baby Looney Tunes. That show is less jokes and no slapstick. It is a Muppet Babies rip-off that only attempts to be educational. It also tries to be too cute, and fails.

Actually I think He's totally off on his opinion on Duck Dodgers, because he did a similar joke like that in Kickassia.
I like a lot of the new changes actually, sure it's not the same but you know what who gives a shit sometimes change is ok.

When was the last time you watched CN? Because if you watched it within the last 4 months, perhaps you would know only one exists on CN today

I've got nothing against this new one, I'd just rather spend my time or introduce my kids to the originals.
i have not watched this show but it loooks very good, Lola reminds me of Babs Bunny from Tiny Toons :')
NC Loves Tiny Toones (as well as the spinoff Animaniacs that even some staff have guest star and talk about the series)
I think I watched maybe one or two episodes but, I never really watched the old Looney Toones and this one seemed pretty meh. It might have been the timing where I was loosing interest in cartoons or the two episodes I watched were the not so great ones that NC mentions.
Though I admire cartoon network for being the most resistant channel to the stupid 5 year old sitcoms
