If you're like most people, you spend more time listening to music in your car than any other place. Too bad most car stereos have weak sound quality, especially in the bass department.
Adding a subwoofer is the single, most significant improvement you can make to a car audio system. Not only do you get the benefit of the subwoofer's superior bass performance, but with proper system design, you also relieve the small front and rear speakers in your car from the burden of reproducing bass. This makes them sound better, cleaner and louder.
The only problem with subwoofers in the car is that they typically take up a lot of room, which can be a big problem if you want to keep your vehicle's comfort and utility intact. JL Audio's Stealthbox® subwoofer systems solve this problem once and for all, while delivering a level of sub-bass performance that is way ahead of the curve. And, as the name implies, no one will ever know it's there.
Our engineers begin the Stealthbox® design process by studying the acoustics of the target vehicle and evaluating potential Stealthbox® locations.
Extensive testing takes place with the goal of maximizing performance while minimizing loss of vehicle utility and comfort. Then we choose from our vast arsenal of acclaimed subwoofer components and our rather extensive bag of loading techniques to produce the best possible subwoofer response for each and every Stealthbox® vehicle. Prototypes are evaluated and fine-tuned to further improve sound quality, output, cosmetics and fit. After a month or two (sometimes three) of intense research, a Stealthbox® is ready for production.
The result is a product that embodies JL Audio's passion for car audio by exceeding the conventional limits of system design... Delivering performance so good that Truckin' magazine declared: "You never would think that a single 10-inch woofer... in a box made to blend in with the interior, could produce as much bass as a system with several 12-inch subwoofers..."
JL has, by far, the best shallow subs out there. And I've heard nearly all of them.
These are great for an average listener. They don't work whereas bass heads are concerned. They do sound fantastic but they just don't have the SPL that some of us desire. This is something to consider before buying one or more of these. Again, they do sound great but they won't push the SPL envelope for your vehicle past around 90db to 100db. They weren't designed to do that. They were designed to sound good at reasonable volume levels which they do very well.

My brother has a 2014 Jeep Rubicon Unlimited and the JL Stealthbox with the 13TW5...WOW was my impression when hearing it powered by a 750W mono block! Amazing products and well worth the cost
BigDWiz hey bigdwiz lol surprised to see you comment here I've watched a lot of your vids. I used to install for a shop and i did quite a few stealth boxes and you're right the tw5's got a solid kick to them. By FAR the best sounding and loudest shallow subs I've heard.
I have a stealth box in my 2008 Chevy Silverado. I highly recommend taking the subs out and putting in sound damping Matt on the inside of it . It definitely made a difference In Overall sound . The box used to have some resonance to it before I did mine because the fiberglass is pretty thin .
I have an 08 Silverado. How much does the stealth box run, and is it powered or do I have to buy an Amp separately?
All depends on the size of the subs you’re looking at but it ain’t cheap. You’ll also need to buy the correct amp to power them
@@robp418 I'd be fine with one 10" sub as long as it can handle some decent wattage. I want a 10" that can handle like 800 RMS and still sound clean and crisp

I have the ford flex Stealth box, it sounded goos with the 10w3v3 that came with it but bbn i swapped out the sub for the 10w6v3 and i am a whole lot happier with it. You guys should give it the 10w6v3 instead of the 10w3v3. I would have paid extra for the sub upgrade 😁

I'm in the market in buying a 2019 + RAM 1500, I read a few things about the rear seat needs to be fixed vs reclining. I know the difference but what prevents the stealth box from working with the reclining seats? Is there a shape difference? Would it fit if you didnt care about it reclining? I'm inquiring before I purchase.

Hello, I would like to install in my Toyota Hilux 2009 model dual cab 4 JL Audio speakers model C5-650X in the four doors with speaker baffles. I plan to use a Pioneer AVH-600EX to drive the 4 door speakers (no amplifier) and to use a JL Audio powered sub ACP108LG-W3v3: Single 8W3v3 MicroSub+™ with DCD™ Amplifier, Ported, 0.40 Ω behind the back seat. Do you think that this is a good rig up and should sound good?

The C5-650x are great sounding speakers, but to get the best performance out of those speakers, I would recommend using one of our amplifiers to power them since the head unit power is not enough to really drive these speakers to their best. I would recommend using a 4 channel amplifier to maximize the full potential of these speakers and an example of 4 channel that will power them nicely would be the XD400/4. This amplifier will produce 75 watts per channel at 4 ohms and will bring the C5's to life. The ACP108LG-W3v3 is a clean sounding subwoofer enclosure that gives you good bass in a tight location. Overall this would be a good sounding system.

Love your subs and amps! Tw3 - 10inch version... will you guys or have you thought of doing a stealth box for Mercedes-Benz GLK350 models 2013 and up? It could fit either under or over the tire in the trunk. I would buy it! In a heart beat! PLEASE MAKE ONE! PLEASE!

@Carlos Martinez, no unfortunately we do not have a Stealthbox option for the Infiniti. Another alternative might be our CS110LG-TW3 enclosure which is compact and would not take up much of your usable space.

Stealthbox designs are typically made once there is enough demand for that particular enclosure. We do not fabricate one-off enclosures. You can, however, reach out to your local authorized JL Audio dealer as they will be able to assist you with fabricating an enclosure design for your vehicle. do they use the stock connectors?
Stealthbox® subwoofer systems cannot be connected to a factory wiring harness as all Stealthbox® subwoofer system models are passive. They require the installation of an external aftermarket amplifier to be powered.

Hello Oliver, we have not word yet from R & D in regards to the 5th generation.
With the Avalanche / Escalade EXT Midgate stealth box it states from 02-12 avalanche and up to 09 escalade. Does that mean the midgate is different in 2010 + escalades where it won't fit?
That's correct, from what we have found there is a difference between the rear seat clearance and midgate on the 2010+ Escalade EXT which causes fitment issues with the Stealthbox.
are these "powered"? as in if purchased would not have to get an amp to go with it?
Stealth boxes are not powered, you will need a separate amp to drive the speaker.

Doug, if the Stealthbox you're referring to is model SB-GM-SLVEXT2/10W1v3, our XD600/1v2 is an excellent option.
JL Audio would installing a new radio improve the sound quality? or would the stock radio do the trick
An aftermarket radio would certainly allow for more control over the audio system compared to the OEM radio, you'll also add functionality that may not have been available on your factory stereo.

I bought the stealth box for the 2017 Jeep Wrangler 2 door. Would you be able to tell me if it's okay to place the 5 channel amp on the empty compartment space provided the is next to the sub speaker? I've been told that the vibration from the sub might interfere with the amp..

That empty location is a secure mounting place for a JL Audio amplifier. If the 5-channel fits, you may install it there. The vibration will not interfere with the amplifier.
Thanks for the reply. However, I've called crutchfield, and they sell the product as well, and they said not to put it there because theres not enough room for air to come in and it might cause the amp to overheat and the technician over at at PNA Sport have said that the vibration from the sub may interfere with its function. I guess Ill stick with what you've told me since youre a JL rep but just incase in does cause some issues with the amp, would that be covered with any type of warranty? Also, can you provide me with maybe a direct number to the technicians at JL audio so I can give them a call and clarify everything with the technician at PNA?

The over heating issue depends on which amplifier you use. Some amplifiers dissipate heat better than others. If you don't feel comfortable installing the amplifier in that section of the stealthbox, feel free to mount it wherever you would like. As far as the vibration issue, PNA Sport may have come across this before and that's why they may have stated that. Our JL amplifiers don't have that issue, but again, if you don't want to mount it in that location, please feel free to mount it anywhere you would like. Our number is 954-443-1100
Apparently, the JL rep who just gave Gonzalo this info is either a woman/secretary who doesn't know crap about proper car stereo amplifier mounting locations or it's a nerdy, male office worker who gets paid by JL to just answers internet questions. Either way, he/she doesn't know anything about the number one cause of car audio amplifier problems... it's VIBRATIONAL DAMAGE from subwoofers low, powerful frequecies! It literally shakes the parts inside an amp, like the capacitors, resistors, soldered wires/connections, transformers, etc... etc..., so violently that they eventually come loose or crack, losing connection & killing the amp.
NEVER mount an amplifier ON or BESIDE a subwoofer, PERIOD!!!
Put the amp as far away from the sub as possible & even mount it on rubber grommets/pads to further reduce vibrational damage.
And what's up with this JL rep always suggesting JL's lower-end XD amps for everything, including JL's Stealthboxes??? Why would someone spend $500-$2,000 on a supposed top-of-the-line, custom, specifically designed sub box & speaker for their nice, expensive vehicle but then put a cheaper, lower-end JL XD Series amp with a not-so-good .5% THD (distortion) rating INSTEAD of promoting their top-of-the-line HD Series amps with ONLY a .05% THD (distortion) rating which would sound MUCH cleaner/clearer??? Can ANYBODY explain that one to me?? I'm looking at a Stealthbox for a friend's 1999 Corvette & was thinking about an old school JL 500/1 to cleanly power it. The box/speaker is like over $850 easy! So why would ANYBODY whose willing to shell out that kind of coin put a cheaper, lower quality amp on it?? Beats me?!
In sales it's pretty simple... always suggest your best, highest quality product line first... then, IF someone balks at the high price of it, you can always come down to a less expensive model line that's more in their price/acceptable quality range.

For the scion the instructions say to drill hole thru back of box to mount. How will this be air tight then ?
Hello josh, the mounting bolt will pass through the hole in the enclosure and then you place a large fender washer, flat washer and nut on the bolt. Once the nut is tightened it seals the hole. You can also put a dab of silicone sealant on the end of the bolt thread for additional sealing as long as you are careful not to let too much squeeze out and get onto the panel under the Stealthbox.

Ricky, we did in fact have a Stealthbox for the '04-'09 Dodge Durango ( model SB-D-DRNGO2 ) but unfortunately it was discontinued a few years ago.

What subs do u have for 2017 silverado crew cab
We have two different Stealthbox solutions for that vehicle. The SB-GM-SLVCC3 has two 10TW3 subwoofers and would fit under the rear seats, or the SB-GM-3GSLVCNSL which has a single 10TW1 subwoofer and goes in the center console (if equipped).
Which one sounds better from those two options?

My 04 Tundra stealthbox is $650 with a 10w3v3. The sub is $269 out of the box. I cant justify $400ish for a box hidden or not

Cartoys will build me a basic box for 2 10s under the back seat for 275... another shop will build me nice custom box for 475 for my 2018 Chevy crew cab... my thing is for the price of that console box and still having to buy the amp, I might as well get the stealth jl 10s that go under the rear seat or go through cartoys and also put 2 10s with amp and installation and be around $1000 give or take

Mine got stolen from the ghetto when some thugs stole my toolbox and got my spare key, I really am missing a little bass. They just ripped the amp and everything from the wires, too bad they didn't realize my best friends a cop and tracked their asses down within half an hour with about 12 cops and their guns out, made me smile though.

Over priced and my experience w JL hasn’t been the best. Way better quality enclosed speakers with way better sound out there for less money and if you know how to install, it’s a win win.
