    How do you plan on keeping the greenhouse warm enough for tropical plants (fish too?)? I love my stock tank ponds and my above ground built ponds. Will you be adding filters (other than plants) to your ponds? I have both.

      I use an electric heater for the greenhouse and have recently added a heater in the stock tank pond, primarily for the plants. Last year they did get a little stressed with the water temps dipping into the lower 50s. I’m not using a filter, and don’t plan to at this time, I am keeping a watch on the water parameters especially as the goldfish grow larger though, to see if a filter is ever needed

    Zebra mussels are in the Great Lakes. They are sharp and will cut your feet.

    I think i have too many plants in mine. 4 weeks in 0 ammonia 0 nitrites 0 nitrates, while adding ammonia chloride fertilizer and ghost feeding with fish flakes for added trace nutrients. Once I add fish there's going to be a significant drop in ammonia. I had no idea houseplants could process that much ammonia in one day.

    My vote goes to starting an aquaponics system in the greenhouse 👍

    You would still need to cycle your aquarium prior to adding fish correct?

    Hi Andrew, whould you fertilize the plants at all with basic npk fer zer for terrestrial plants? My idea is to dilute it and add it to my riparium as i still havent added any fish yet and my substrate is just leca alone...i should thi k once the plants are established and i add fish then i should be ok with not adding any fertilizer considering the npk fert could also hurt the fish and plants can feed of the fish waste
    ..any advise here?

      @plantlifeproject  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would recommend using a liquid fertilizer for aquarium use just to be safe. Another idea is to just add fish food every few days even if you don’t have fish yet, as a way to fertilize the plants. Just make sure you are testing the water to make sure there’s no ammonia and low nitrates before adding fish. Just my thoughts.

    What size it the tank? I would also suggest dwarf fireball platy fish.

    • @plantlifeproject
      @plantlifeproject  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s a 10 gallon. I would probably put them in a larger tank even though they are dwarf. I think platies do better with space. Those are beautiful fish though! Do you have any fireball platies?

    I really, want to do something like this for my turtles filter .. & I also wanted underwater plants but, she'll just eat them and, everything else lol 🤣 But, I do have a nano tank I can use as a grow out tank maybe, I also want more snails 🐌& maybe some shrimp 🦐

    Hii !! I am very excited by your videos as i wanted the same idea as you have used for my study table. I have a question that does this new setup need to be cycled to get good bacteriya or we can add guppies or betta without cycling.

    • @plantlifeproject
      @plantlifeproject  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It does need to be cycled as a new tank before adding fish , unless you use rocks, substrate, etc. from an already cycled tank

    Would Japanese rice fish be suitable as well for this type of tank. I rather like them and would like to keep both them and shrimp in a tank as I find them more relaxing than more obvious fish (and I don't really like guppies at all) to look at. They sort of fit in with the plant life.

    • @plantlifeproject
      @plantlifeproject  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes the rice fish would be a good option!
