Yes. You definitely should. But only the switch lite, there's no point in spending $300 - 400 on OLED or V2 when a new Nintendo console could be launched anytime soon like after a year or so. Imo, Lite is a must buy, super powerful, beautiful device. For its size and shape it's a beast.

Just bought one. I originally bought a Lite as my first console ever during the pandemic. It was the only version of the Switch I could find at the time. I later bought a full size Switch and sold the Lite. I immediately missed it. Two years later and I immediately remembered what I loved about the Lite. Unibody, light, easy to throw in a bag or my bed stand, easy to hold while in bed and so on. I still have a regular Switch and a PS5. But I’m going to end up playing the Lite more just because it’s so easy to use.
Something about it’s lightweight form factor just makes life better sometimes.
The size and portability really does make this switch what it is. I just wished the battery was better on it.
Great video 🙂 I bought my first Switch this year i purposely went with the Lite model as it's perfect for my case & use, absolutely love it. I haven't had a Nintendo handheld since the Gameboy Advance days, I missed the ds/2ds/3ds era (though i have played all the games via emulation) I will most likely buy the next Switch model they release but for now the Lite still has a lot of life left in it, especially with all the games being scheduled to release.
I definitely think the lite is worth it especially if it’s your first switch. It’ll hold you off until the next switch model comes out.
Honestly I have had a light for about 3 years now and I love it. The regular switch was kinda big to carry around

The gray colored one is the way to go, Indigo being a close second, but of course that one came out way after the inital launch of the Lite model.

I love the Switch Lite. I take out in the go with me when I travel or commute to work. I currently own the Pokémon Sword and Shield Switch Lite.
After years of wanting one I finally upgraded from my old launch 3DS and bought the dark blue Switch Lite the other day (was torn between that and the yellow model). Best decision ever! My only complaint is the battery life, but I mostly play while connected to the charger with low brightness so it’s not that big of a deal. Was really pleased to see how many free games the Switch has compared to the 3DS, as well as the ability to play demos an unlimited amount of times.
I definitely love the games on the switch. The switch catalog is gigantic. I also agree with you in regards to the battery life on the switch lite.

I have one reason and one reason only for why I'm considering buying the OLED, and that is to put it in a BMO (cartoon character from Adventure Time) switch dock. My dreams of having BMO and playing games with him will finally come true.

I bought a secondhand Nintendo switch lite for $125 about four months ago because I know I'm going to spend more money on games that I wanted to play which is so expensive. It still work perfectly fine until today. I'm currently playing Pokémon Violet.

What’s the first game on your list that you’re most excited to pay?
For me first and foremost it's the price. I really doubted whether to buy a switch at all, but when I saw that you can buy a used Lite in an IDEAL condition for 150$ - it was a no-brainer. I don't care about the dock since I already got a good PC as my main gaming platform, but I use my switch daily for a couple hours in my bed before sleep, in a bath or on a bus to play indie games, a port of an old game or nintendo exclusives I've been meaning to play for years now. It turned out to be a useful sturdy compact little thing that I can carry anywhere and use it when I don't have the ability or just don't feel like sitting in front of my desktop.
I love my switch lite. It’s compact and the doc and all them cords are extra too me. No need to have multiple consoles hook to the tv in my book. The battery life could be better but I can get a little better but forget about it lol
I also wish the battery life on it were better.
I think you should. I like it because it's easier to travel with and you don't have to worry about the joycons.

I think so, especially now I can find one brand new with discount code I can get it for just over $100.
Yes, Lite can't be docked it but then I realized I have beefy PC that can emulate Switch games at 4K with much better AA and AF so OLED model suddenly becomes redundant and simply not as good of an experience when docked play on a big screen, I just need an easy to use ready to go portable system.
As for Lite battery life I not worried and yes OLED have noticeably longer battery life but then I'm not the type that play games on the go more than 2 hours at a time so extra battery life on OLED are welcoming, but I doubt I'd ever get to make the use of it.
Then there's the problem of feeling and having anything top of the line you have the most to lose when the new gen model or product revealed especially when it happened at the wrong time.
I knew I have that feeling when I realized my gaming Laptop is no longer high-end model just after 6 months.

I have lite and OLED. I love both. But lite ver is great for me, especially when i go out of grid, lite always with me.
It’s lightweight form factor and it’s portability makes it such a great switch when traveling.

I own the V1 and the Oled now. I like playing it on the TV and also handheld. Bt the oled is not tat comfortable when playing handheld on the bed or compact friendly when taking it overseas. Its coming to 2024. I dont knw if its worth it to buy the lite or wait for the switch 2..

Really like my lite, played it alot, but once you go OLED model, it really is hard to go back, really wished my lite has oled screen with better battery life too, but taking it as it is, since launch, its a great device, but if someone will ask me if i were to recommend a switch version to them, OLED is the way to go at this point.

SOLID Review. I don't care for it docked and will only play like 6 games on it mostly Mario being Wonder, Odyssey and 3D World and some Zelda stuff with AOC, BOTW and TOTK but the games are expensive and never go down in price so i'd rather buy the lesser console to get more games. Plus it'd be tertiary device as a PS5 or PS5 Slim would be my preferred secondary and i'd want to spend more money on that.
And i'll end up giving the Lite to my Nephew so he'll have something like the DS.
I just got mine today after owning the original and also owning an OLED model right now. I wasn't sure if I made the right call until I held it in my hands. The OLED Switch remains the best model, but the Lite feels so much better in handheld mode because of it's weight and size. It really does make a difference and a D-pad in handheld mode is also a blessing if you play at least one of the many, many 2D games for Switch. The screen isn't that much of a downgrade compared to the OLED model either. I'm surprised the whitepoint is actually more accurate than the original Switch. If you love handheld mode this model is seriously worth considering.
For the price you really can’t go wrong. It’s a great buy as long as you know what you’re getting yourself into.
Hi, I have gone through so many versions of the switch. I finally decided to stay with the lite. I love it’s side and comfort while playing it. Yes it has limited battery but it’s a lovely gaming handheld console. I got the yellow one which I was trying to get a hold of for months.
Has finding the yellow one been difficult? I also agree about the battery life as well. It’s definitely my biggest gripe when it comes to the lite.

I saw an Amazon review that said their only complaint is the text size, that, "even with glasses, it can be hard to read". Thoughts on that? I like me some story, so I'm gonna be reading if I get this.
I’ve had all the Nintendo switch variants and I never had an issue with the text size on any of them.

nintendo switch has been showing up on my shopping app until i finally ordered one, the turquoise one (it’s still on its way tho). i dont have any idea bcos this is my first time buying smtg for gaming so now ive been checking videos about switch. hopefully, buying the switch lite is worth it.

I love my switch. As someone who isn't the biggest gamer anymore(college, work, life etc.) I really have no time to just sit at home, must less spending hours playing games, need something tiny enough to where it can fit in my bag and no feel like it's a burden to take out, or a burden to game on. Stuff like the steam deck are just way to big and bulky for my liking. And I also primarily love jrpgs, nintendo games and some random 3rd party games here and there(no that big on most indies). So for someone like we with my specific needs, the switch lite is literally just the perfect little thing, imo the best "real" handheld out there

But recently i got it hacked to play emulators and overclock Xenoblade 3.

The joysticks are still easy to replace if you have the right tools.
Had the OLED and neever used dock and was too heavy. Happy with my lite switch 😊
I found myself never using the dock with my Oled switch.
Just returned the oled for the same reason, too heavy for long play...may be getting the lite now 👀

My opinion perfect time to get into switch lite.
Especially since it’s the cheapest out of the lineup. I don’t think anyone would regret getting it in my honest opinion.

The switch lite is so fun. It could've imrpove on the performsnce but its still playable and fun.
The gaming library is well done and I kind of eished it could run like ac unity or games thats graphically greater like from the consoles. Maybe in the next console that nintendo may make.
Also, I have small hands so thats probably why I like playing it because its a lot mroe comfortable holding it, compared to bigger hands that others may have

As of right now, all the switch models can get stick drift. I wonder if the next generation of Nintendo switch will have Hall effect joysticks.
I owned both the Lite and Oled and I much prefer the Lite over the Oled. The Switch itself is already a very weak system compared to all current gen systems and PC; so a nice Oled screen won't really do much in hiding the poor performance; in fact, the Oled might actually magnify the poor performance and graphics of the Switch. That's not a positive. But a Switch system in a smaller screen looks absolutely perfect; almost as if it was meant to be. If the next Nintendo System is also a handheld to TV console hybrid I will be going 100% with the smaller handheld model like the Switch Lite.
It’s definitely due for an upgrade. I’m in hopes of the next gen Nintendo switch screen being atleast 1080p in handheld mode and 4k on the tv. Fingers crossed 🤞🏾!
Strong disagree. Have both as well. Objectively speaking, they perform the same. Any difference would only be in milliseconds (I’ve done a side by side). Lite has a better form factor and it feels more sturdy, but the OLED just looks better, which is a relatively big thing.
@@angelopebs No it's not. Weak graphics looking better is not a big thing. OLED is an external attribute, it doesn't affect graphical fidelity. A 4K non OLED pictures with high graphical fidelity will look infinitely better than an OLED screen displaying poor graphical fidelity.
@@tigerex777 Are you referring to PPI? What you said is true in extreme cases. When comparing the Lite with the OLED, this is not the case. The only advantage the Lite has over the OLED in terms of screen is a higher PPI count, which you don't really see. If you have both, then you'd know this is true, even if you pixel peep.

It performs the same but the OLED looks better. It does not "magnify the poor performance" unless you are talking about very specific games like The Witcher 3. In which case you're essentially saying the lower quality screen masks the resolution. Which is also true.

I don’t own a pc for emulation. I want a fully dedicated handheld. Switch Lite has the best form factor and the best selection under these circumstances. The only problem, really, is the underwhelming battery life.

As a non gaming person, i really want this switch lite as i really miss the old days playing games on PS2 but i prefer handheld device as i don't stay at home that much
The Nintendo switch lite is a great purchase that won’t require you to break the bank for it. If you like the games that are out for the Nintendo switch then it’s a must buy
The Switch is the best modern console for casual gamers, and you can even get remakes of some popular PlayStation titles like Crash, Spyro, GTA, etc. on the switch. The switch lite is also the most affordable option and it's definitely worth the buy if you prefer gaming on the go.
Powkiddy x55 is a decent handheld about the same size screen and resolution. You can play up to ps1 or n64
biggest worry in buying a switch lite is taht the screen is gonna feel too small

The battery and stick drift are the two things stopping the switch lite from being a perfect device for the price.

I would definitely say the lite for sure if you’re going to give one to a 4 year old for two reasons. One being the size of the switch seeing as the lite is smaller. Two being the price range. It’s best to spend less in case it were to break.

Hello everyone I need help I have xbox series x and ps5 I never own any Nintendo device before I am thinking about to buy lite version of switch but my question should I buy it or wait for next switch 2 I thought in Nintendo direct state of play they gonna announce about but nothing happen so do you think it come next year or 2025 what should I do ? Please help
The Switch is a good device but if you have a Series X and PS5, you will be disappointed if you expect it to run at decent framerates. On the regular and Lite models, some games still run at 10-25 frames per second at times. I went from playing games at 60fps to 25fps and it was really disappointing. Let's put it this way. If you do plan on getting one at this stage, the Lite is the one to get because it has the exact same internals as the more expensive versions and all of them use the same CPU, GPU and Ram that some android devices used in 2014. The PS5 and Series X actually had cutting edge tech that was brand new when it came out in 2020 but the Switch hardware is close to 10 years old now. The Lite is the only one that is worth the price because it plays all games except for a few that require motion controls, and that a lot of us don't use anyway. There could be a new OLED version of the Lite before the Switch 2 comes out or maybe that becomes the Switch 2 itself. That might be worth waiting for but if you're impatient and can't wait, you can pick up a used Lite in good working condition for as little as $100. If you only plan on getting it for a few games to play portable because you already have the PS5 and Xbox at home, this is a better investment for tech that is close to 10 years old because you still get access to the ecosystem to play those few games and you can sell it when you are done. Many people actually get their Switch to play a few exclusives and they sell it afterwards because they have no use for it anymore. I also have a PS5. If a game is multiplatform and available on PS5, I much rather play the same game on PS5 at 4K and 60fps than on Switch at 20-30fps. It might be a good idea to wait but even at the price of $199, I think that the Lite is still worth it compared to something like the OLED that has the exact same hardware but that retails for $349. That's almost half the price brand new and you can always sell it when the Switch 2 comes out. The next console (which isn't even guaranteed to be a Switch and could be a home console) could be here by the end of next year, so you still have a year to finish those few games if you get a Lite now.

Nope, you will get screen line after long time gaming in switch lite and its cost almost half of price, and believe me for now oled is best option

I was playing doom eternal and I can say for certain that the lite is more comfortable than an ordinary switch. Just don't know why....

My dad has the oled and we play ot once in a while. But of course we don't play it for months after the time we play it. And I am 16 and want to replace my faulty Kindle Fire that I'm using right now.

The switch lite is great, but the build quality of the shell is cheap. After a month the plastic will show wear spot.

lack of memory, small screen, bad battery life, lack of tv connection, and no joy-con drift protection are HUGE deal breakers.
Well the lack of memory is on all of them in my opinion. The 32gb and 64gb are not enough. The battery life is horrible I do agree but the lack of tv connection shouldn’t be an issue especially since if you bought the lite then you knew exactly what you were getting yourself into. The no joycon drift protection is an issue that’s why I advise people to get a warranty so you shouldn’t need to buy a new switch should your switch develop joycon drift.
Also, no HD Rumble.

No, you should NOT buy a Switch Lite in 2023. There's absolutely no reason to, as It's a useless console. It's not even a Switch, and just some offhand poorly performing handheld. Buy an actual Switch or an OLED, if you must own one.
