    Love elephants so much. And the females are such good Moms. She really took off to help her little one. So grateful to all the people working so hard to save and protect these Magnificent animals..

    Mother elephants could teach us humans a thing or two.
    They are the best mothers, Aunts, sisters and grandmothers!

    They are turning their backs on the big one who hurt or scared the baby. That’s amazing. The big one actually goes under water and causes the baby to cry out. Momma goes in to protect her crying baby.

      Shorba Frik These elephants are happy here and they enjoy being with each other. Just last week, I saw one of them playing with a boomer ball.

      It is likely a teen that needs some correction. Oldest female is the boss usually. Young males can be like teenagers anywhere, if there is a male in the group. They get over it.

    This comment is for just in case any animal rights people come onto here and try to complain. I volunteer at this zoo and learned from keepers that the full enclosure including the barn is about 10 acres which is more than enough room for the elephants. The way the camera is angled makes it look smaller than it really is. There are actually four or five different viewing places.

      A herd does not roam for hundreds of miles in the wild. They stay within a certain area, unless there are food or danger issues.

      Kiprotich Toroitich All of our elephants were born at AZA accredited zoos. Our bull elephant Raja and his three daughters were born at our zoo.

    The elephant that pushed the baby is being ignored by the rest of the herd.....they are turning their backs at her.

    Well that was harsh. A little fun fact the adult cow that pushed the calf which I think was Kenzi is her Grandmother Ellie the mother of Kenzi is Rani who flared her ears at her own mother and kept her ears flared in Eille's direction . The reason why I said was is because Kenzi died in 2018 and his is even more sad because Rani lost her latest calf Avi.

    They are being so mean to the elephant that tried to help that baby brat( he screamed when she touched him) out of the pool. Then she tries to explain and they all turn their back to her. Mean bunch.

    Elephants are awesome, and they always seem happiest in groups, but if they're not in the wild, they really should be supplied with ample space to roam around in.

      as a regular visitor to this zoo(theres a reason its always in the top 10 in the country), I can tell you, their enclosure is HUGE! Plenty of room for them to move around. The zookeepers are on their A game. Lots of enrichment things for them as well. Trust me, they are well loved and cared for. As are all of the animals there :)

    Elephant r truly amazing and one of the smartest animals to get the problem solved. Hope the zoo has already improved the facility. the bank of the pool is too deep for the cub. It is better to be designed as a gradual slope instead of a steep bank.

      The St Louis Zoo is known for its efforts to help the elephants. With their numbers decreasing (because of poaching), this zoo is doing its best to help the population. They're treated with so much love. Their caretakers are second to none. They arent being abused.

      I volunteer at this zoo. We are one of the top AZA accredited zoos in the country and our animals have a very happy life.

      The St Louis Zoo's elephant area is actually quite large ... this video doesn't give a fair representation of it...there are multiple large areas all connected together to give them as much room as a zoo can.

      You are only seeing a corner of this big section, plus they have a large area in the woods and a big barn.

      Read my post. I’m a volunteer at this zoo and have seen how large it is. It’s 10 acres. There’s even a large place behind the scenes where they can have privacy if they choose to.
