    Awesome mod idea!! Just did it to my C24 and it has greatly increased its droop and therefore amount of flex and articulation. Highly recommend doing this to your C24 for more flex.

    suggest to wrap tape thick on the drill bit to serve as a depth guide.
    easiest way to make all 4 shocks the same, the idea to drill is good.
    grind away small circle inside center of shock cap, gain 2 more mm.
    I remove 2/3 of spring "solid" ends, from both ends, by grinding flat.
    lower eyelet, screw in only to thread length, end barely visible.
    older C14/24, there is room for longer rods than the stock shock rods.
    after modifying, 2" (50mm) of one wheel lift, other 3 still down flat,
    is very good flex for a basically stock C-frame.

    Worked great, even added a little grease for rebound . Also added small o ring where shock mounts to frame to stop rattle

    Amazing tip brother! I drilled them out and sliced small bits of heat shrink tubing and layered a couple of them just at the base of the internal screw to act as bushings to make it a little bit more stable.

    Thank you for the video, It is very difficult though to find a 5 mm drillbit is there something that works just as well or close to 5 mm

    • @smallscaleadventures
      @smallscaleadventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      5mm is just smaller than 2/10" - 0.197" so I suppose you could give that a try if imperial sizes are easier to find where you are.

    what do you mean drill it deeper? my wpl c24K has those shocks but the tube the springs go in has a hole on each end

    • @smallscaleadventures
      @smallscaleadventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's a thick block at the bottom of the moulding of the shock body. Drilling some of this out give greater droop and longer travel.

    how'd you get the rod out of the housing? I tried to unscrew it from the inside but it just spins

    • @smallscaleadventures
      @smallscaleadventures  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Take the top cap off, then remove the spring. Push the rod all the way up and you will see that it has a cross head screw on the top. hold the plastic mount at the bottom and use a screwdriver to unscrew the rod.

    Does it affect ride height when you trim the springs?

    • @smallscaleadventures
      @smallscaleadventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can lower it a little because there is less preload tension on the spring allowing them to sag slightly.

  • @faiscas1
    @faiscas1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Drill and cut the spring or just one of the 2?

    • @smallscaleadventures
      @smallscaleadventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd do both unless the truck was particularly heavy.
