    Hey Steve. Yes chord progressing in 3rds maintaining the triad's intervals. Something I have beat to death. One of those tricks I keep in my pocket. when someone points at me and says GO. I think what's important here is that even though everything is nice and neat you may land on a dissonant note. In this case it is the B in the Em triad. It's not a chord tone of the Am key therefore it creates tension in the key. Pretty much the purpose of a 9th chord. Which is actually a two. Fun stuff to play with. Not to forget you can invert those triads too.
