This album is FANTASTIC. Just like the majority of their songs and albums. In fact they’re biggest album is in a way, they’re worst believe it or not. And it’s still good. They’ve mellowed with age. And that’s just fine. Not everything has to be manic, coke fueled intensity white heat lighting throttle trani on 10 forever and ever. Have loved this band all the way back to the very early 2000’s, when no one knew them, and Youth And Young Manhood, and then Aha Shake Heartbreak, were in constant rotation in my car CD player. And I’d tell anyone who would listen that they were the best new rock band you’ve never heard, with the most unique, gorgeous toned, tightly edged sound played loose with incredible lyrics and a punk soul since Nirvana. Including the kid at FYI who sold me Aha. I said “have you heard of them?” He shook his head. I said “Just wait, you will”. Then said “There was a time when no one had heard of Nirvana either, did you know that?”. He looked at me like I was crazy 😂🤣because he was to young to remember that. But I did. Now the whole world knows who they are of course. And the whole world knows the Kings now too. So glad they’ve continued making music and didn’t crash and burn and break up and disappear or OD like so many great rock bands have over the years, that no one even remembers now. Like Wolfmother, Chevelle, Darkside Symphony, and Combrero. Heard of all of them? Yeah that’s what I thought 😂 They’re the last rock band I’ve heard where when I first heard them, I wasn’t just instantly hooked on their music, I felt “this is the one”; and after that very first listen, I knew they were not just great, but so special they could be legendary. And it’s been a LONG time now. Like Caleb said, 20 yrs. My generation, we’ve all grown old waiting for the next one that never came. To me, they’re the last truly exceptional and spectacular rock band to have come out. And I for one am happy they’re still around.
My favorite is come around sundown. Not that their writing wasn't really good before, but it really exploded with only by the night and was taken to another level on come around :)
Listing to Caleb, especially a great conversation with a thoughtful interviewer is incredibly fascinating. Its like an 11 out of 10 for me. Great stuff!!!!!!!!!
Just bought two tickets to their show this coming September in Dana Point California it's been 11 years since I've seen them live so I'm a bit excited had to share that with y'all
This album is fantastic. It followed Walls perfectly and set the table for Can We Please Have Fun. But When You See Yourself wi always be sentimental for me as it made me a huge fan.
Wonderful interview! Thanks for sharing. What Caleb said about the music industry is so true. Things really need to change. Artists all over the world need to be valued more for the work that they create. (I'm looking at you, Spotify- why don't you try paying artists properly when people stream their music?) Anywaaay, rant over! The new record is gorgeous and really helping to get me through this madness Thank fuck for the Followills!!!

Why does KOL get so much hate in terms or critics in the vein of pitchfork? I know it doesn’t really matter but it’s always been interesting to me why they’re always mocked by that crowd

The new album would put you to sleep. Such a change from an amazing band. Way to over produced and each new album KOL now put out is a bit more over produced than the previous one. Get back to raw basics please.
But they're older now, they have changed. They have families now, have normal, slow life (maybe now duric pandemy more than ever). I think that this record reflects them now the most. Maybe when they taste again life during tour, we will get sth crazy next time😄
Older now ok, but why bother to put us all to sleep with this new mellow and mid tempo rubbish. Why don't they just retire and book into an old people's home and stop ruining the great memories we have of KOL. If they want a collection of songs like this album let them keep it for their private collection
@@MaLu-gu2ut AC/DC are still releasing rock music in their 60s. Why don't KOL just pack it in, if they have lost their spark then stop making this awful recent music.
Poets, singers, troubadours have always been the most unique prophets of all time. Thanks so much for this guest.
Caleb and his words has guided me to creating music and finding my voice 💜💯 thank you KoL
One of the best interviews from Caleb recently, thanks

Same here, KoL is such a deep and personal band to me 💜🔥
I love your songs guys! I want to go to your concert again when you're back to the UK 🇬🇧

His story about 100.000 people just brings tears to my eyes🥺
What a wonderful interview. X. X. Thank you
100,000 people and Fairytale are magnificent. It's truly a timeless album. The Bandit is class!
Emerge yourself in other characters Caleb , that what makes it enthralling and compelling.
Good interview, well constructed questions.
What an amazing interview! Thanks for that!
What a wonderful interview with Caleb! Definitely the best he has given since the release of When You See Yourself! Great job!!
Just went the a show last Friday. In Massachusetts, and have not stopped playing new and old music. Thank you kol
Loved this. Love your approach to interviewing and adore the fact that Caleb has a half dead plant behind him. Long vie to KOL.

Loved that he referenced Rivers.
Best album as a whole so far
Great interview, thanks.
Very personal interview, and great interviewer! Not just sticking to set questions but going with the flow of the conversation.

Funny man so true so true

KOL without a doubt the best band on the planet 🌏
I like this interviewer. He's not a bumbling dork. Kinda awkward but has a lot of good questions.
Victoria Secret hahaha That cracked me up
Great interviewer
Caleb looks just like his uncle Shane Washington

Because all of the elite know what will happen. I dream that is not the case with these guys are concerned, but it worries me daily...
I wish he would have asked him why his wife ghosted her you tube channel!
Thx for uploading. If you have a second come check out our music videos - We're an indie band and think you may dig our sound. Appreciate it.
😉✌
I want to know if KOL were vaccinated....

@@briangewing6200 How many songs and albums have you sold?
This is by far the best album since Because of the Times and it’s possibly objectively the best. Heartbreak is still number one though
