    I just bought all three f1.2 primes used. Great lenses...even in 2024!!!

    Great review. The quality of these lenses is what one needs to focus on and you're one of the few to do so in a review. Thanks

    Great preview Steve, and brilliant presentation as ever. I’ve got a Leica SL with the 24-90 in my sights, but I’m slightly stunned with those f1.2 images. What magic has Olympus woven here?!

    I’d love to see some pro level portraits with the MkII and the 45

      Gavin Hoey who tends to use the F2.8 Pro zooms more. Gavin has even used the EM5-II professionally. Brilliant photographer.

    Nice.
    Nowadays people tend to focus more on out-of-focus areas. Its better to focus on areas in focus, if the photos have anything to focus at.
    I understand some photographers enjoy hospitality to be in focus.

    17mm f1.2 looks great and its my fave focal length. But hey, sony rx1 is similar in size weight and price in used market. So, what would you prefer? :)

    Great review Steve! What's your vlogging setup? Looks and sounds great!

    • @HiFiHuff
      @HiFiHuff  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is my minimal setup that I travel with. Just a GoPro 4 and Karma Grip. That's it. I also use a Sony A9 with lab mic, and some shotgun mics when I am around home or can travel with a larger bag.

    Beautiful location...thanks for sharing. I own 3 Olympus Pro lenses--will await your next review before filling my Amazon.com cart with the 1.2s. Regarding the bag--very nice, but a bit pricey @ $240.

    • @HiFiHuff
      @HiFiHuff  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      This bag is SO worth it if you travel, or like Backpack style bags. Ive seen bags that cost $600 that are no where near as useful as this bag. It's truly a great bag.

      I bought these in Iceland last year when we were testing the EM1 MKII. 66north is the brand, that's all I know. Thanks.

    You were out of focus almost the entire time you filmed yourself. The background was is focus, though!

    • @HiFiHuff
      @HiFiHuff  6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      This video was shot on a GoPro, and I everything is in focus. If you see otherwise, you may need to adjust your eyeglasses prescip. None of the video here (all shot with a GoPro) is out of focus.

    $1200 for a 35mm f/2.4 equiv? Plus it's gigantic and has limited dynamic range of the tiny sensor... these lenses literally make zero sense. You can get the Samyang 35/2.8 e-mount lens for 1/4 the price and 1/4 the size!!

    • @Hornbauer2010
      @Hornbauer2010 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The amount of light is still equal to a f/1.2 lens. Only the amount of bokeh is like a f/2.4 lens ;)

  • @Funktrainer
    @Funktrainer 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's still the ultrawide smartphonish look you get with these micro four thirds systems no matter how expensive the glass is. Close focus distance isn't everything.

    • @AllThingsFascinate
      @AllThingsFascinate 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      that comment makes no sense and demonstrated a complete lack of knowledge. yes, his footage looks like that. no, that is not what 4/3 cameras look like.

    • @Funktrainer
      @Funktrainer 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alex Jobe Can you show me other images taken with a 4/3 camera and these short focal lengths that look different from his footage? Btw it is not just Steves footage that looks like that.
      It is simple physics. Take a 35mm/2.8 on an APS-C/H or FX sensor and you will see a huge difference in distortion, background rendering (because of other distances to the subject) and therefore overall look compared to that 17mm.

    • @bearfly5544
      @bearfly5544 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      is people taking photo not gear, stop saying this no good thats very bad, be better photographer not gear head, all cameras can take good photos...

    • @Funktrainer
      @Funktrainer 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      bear fly I just say that you see the difference between the output of the systems and that's a fact.

    • @Funktrainer
      @Funktrainer 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      People are fooled when they think they get a 35mm look with a 17mm lens.
