I also didn’t know that there’s a pumpkin festival! How fun! I’m hungry now… I love buying pumpkins from the side of the road here in Germany. It feels so wholesome that they trust you to leave the right amount of money. That people appreciate the farmers enough to do it.
Thanks for watching!! It means a lot to our little family! Have you been before? Willa thinks that they need to add some pumpkin ice cream to the menu next year 😋😉 What an AMAZING place to visit with your family!

@@OurStorytoTell likewise...one thing to really check out is the Christmas market in Ludwigsburg! In my opinion one of the best, if not the best Christmas market in Germany!
It is incredible how your daughter pronounces the ‚ue‘ so well…..without any accent! Kids soak up languages like a sponge! You give her the best gift: A proper foreign language! She will thank you later! We experience that with our boys although they didn’t like our constant movings from one country to the other (Germany, Mexico, Germany and now the US), because it is hard for them to make real friendships. But, they are now 15, 23 and 27 years old and the world is way more open for them! But they just realized that now!
It’s amazing how many places you guys have lived! It makes us excited and hopeful for our future! We hope Willa is grateful for it when she’s older too! 💛
You're the 2nd American family that I've seen post a video from this festival and I as a German didn't even know it existed. Just goes to show that sometimes you need an outside perspective to not become blind to what's around you. Those pumpkin seeds looked delicious.
I have been living in Germany all my life, but I guess this little family from Utah has seen more of it in such a small period of time than I did in fifty years. Wow!
Love the festival, been there almost every autum ( i lived in stuttgart , which is the next main city ) and always enjoyed the food and art there. Perfect place to be, especially with children. They also have a fairy tale garden for kids !
Hah, didn’t know about that pumpkin festival! 😅 Did you take Willa to the fairytale park, too? I lived close to Ludwigsburg from age 3-7 and I loooved that park.
Wow! It looks still so warm and almost like summer. Up here in north all leaves has fallen off from trees and temperature is +-10'c. Winter is definately on its way...
i never thought pumpkins would exist so abundantly outside the US, that is a pleasant surprise, you mentioned pumpkin pie which i have made a few times here in the states but does Germany have pumpkin pie too, that is something i have always associated with typical autumn in the US
Blühendes Barock in Ludwigsburg, I live nearby. Did you go to the fairytail garden too? its in the background. at 9.20 you see the tower where Rapunzel lets her hair down.
I love Ludwigsburg!!! I dreamed of going to that Palace ever since I was a child, and exploring the fairytale grounds and rides...didn't get there til my 30s, but dang it, i rode those rides! Haha. Hope i can make it there in the fall someday.
Aaa, this is the famous Ludwigsburg pumpkin exhibition. So cool to see it. I saw this “underwater” pumpkin exhibition last year when it was exhibited at the Jucker farms in Zürich. Soo cool to see it recycled in other setting. Thanks for sharing this lovely video! Greetings from Switzerland! 🎃
Oh, this brings back memories... I used to live in Ludwigsburg for almost 7 years, and loved it. And yes, I loved the pumpkin thing too. So thanks for the reminder. I guess I should pay a visit to Ludwigsburg anytime soon. Oh and by the way - did you visit the "Märchengarten" (fairy tale garden) in Barockschloss Ludwigsburg? Our kids loved to go there and always had lots of fun.
Hello, you lovely little familly... now THAT was a video In enjoyed from the very beginning to the very end. Although I'm not a big fan of pumpkins, the Flammkuchen and the wafer look VERY delicious. And Willa ? Oh my God, she is becoming cuter and cuter with every video you upload. :-) Best wishes : Gerry
I just came across your videos and enjoy them. You will be entering the Advent season with all the Christmas markets soon. I recommend not limiting yourselves to just the big ones in the bigger cities. The smaller towns and villages give you a more intimate feel and they are just as enjoyable if not more so. I spent 3 months during the winter in Bavaria a couple years ago, and explored many small towns and enjoyed them all. Have fun.
@@OurStorytoTell It would be difficult to name a number one favorite, they are all good. I would certainly recommend going back to Rothenburg ob der Tauber and spending the night there so you can also enjoy the Nightwatchmen Tour with Hans Georg Baumgartner. If you plan to head south to the Alps, (best chance for snow), Kempten is really nice. Immenstadt is small, but it was my first Christmas market, so that makes it my favorite. Ettal (Oberammergau) is excellent. Fussen, Bad Hindelang, Oberstdorf.. Just put a map on the wall and throw a dart. You can't go wrong.

Hey there! I love your channel! It’s so interesting to see my home country through your eyes! If you’re ever searching for a topic for a video, I’d be so interested in a behind the scenes focusing on how to explore a country with a toddler. I’m already stressed when thinking of traveling for longer than an hour or so with our daughter, whose about the age of yours.
I think Americans often expect to taste the "pumpkin spice" instead of the actual pumpkin (which is not a strong taste). Pumpkin spice of course does not taste like pumpkin, pumpkin spice consist of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, allspice and ginger, which in fact can be used for anything else, it does not need to be pumpkin. There is no pumpkin in pumpkin spice, it is just different spices. So very often I feel that Americans are surprised by what pumpkin on its own tastes like? I guess most Americans associate the pumpkin spice with pumpkin and so pumpkin without the pumpkin spice does not really resonate? Not sure if I made myself clear, I hope you understand it anyhow 😊
@@OurStorytoTell I just realized that I have a Hokkaido pumpkin in my kitchen that is waiting to become soup. I also realized that I have never put pumpkin spice (the mixture) in it. I usually only put nutmeg in it. So I am wondering if I should use "pumpkin spice" this time. I am a bit scared though, that I might not like it in my soup. Maybe I just try a little bit in the bowl after the soup is done. My family grow their own pumpkins (different ones) and I believe I am the only one of them who makes soup out of it, while they usually slice it and bake it in the oven to eat it (not as a cake). My parents used to make Strudel out of it too, just like the Apfelstrudel (apple strudel) just with pumpkin instead. Oh an d btw, you do get the pumpkin spice /the mixture) also in Germany. Either the McCormick one in American stores or there is also the brands "Just Spices" , "Ankerkraut" and "Spicebar", that I know of. There might be more. Or you make your own, there are a couple of recipes on the internet that tell you how much of which spice you need.
