I'm a college student w/autism majoring in psychology and had just finished my first online class this semester. I can't emphasize enough how a pandemic of any kind can really jeopardize a special needs individual's and their family's life. I will definitely pray for strength and wisdom among the special needs community in the midst of this trying crisis.
My boyfriend works at a group home for special needs people the virus is spreading where he works and I am dying with cancer what do youhhthink the best thing to do for caregivers who can’t risk getting this sick ? No one can do anything about this
@@isabellavillanueva4639 I am not really sure about your boyfriend's situation, but as long as he is wearing his mask at all times, I think he should be fine. I do know a student in my church special needs ministry who is currently living in his group home right now and from what I've heard, his caregivers are handling him pretty well so that's a good thing. I don't know any of the other details since I don't live in a group home but I will definitely pray for you and your boyfriend about this situation and I am very sorry about your illness.
Jedd Koog yeah the manager who was wearing a mask and doing everything she was asked to do is in the hospital as we speak with COVID . One of the special needs clients caught it also and now they had to shut down a who sheltered workshop. Hygiene standards can be hard to maintain when all the vital workers are getting super sick or dying . It’s almost impossible to provide help for people when you yourself are sick and did everything right . This is very scary
It’s apparent you are wonderful parents Your 7 year old spoke with love , compassion and maturity. You are in my prayers 💕🙏 Thank you for bringing this to my attention Will continue to think of all these families and prayers for all of you.
I understand what these parent's are going thru. I also have a non verbal daughter with Autism Spectrum disorder. She does not understand what's going on and now that our resources have stopped her behavior have gotten worser. Hurting herself and others screaming crying I cant find any melatonin which helped her sleep at night please pray for my family thru this pandemic
Oh yes! I will be definitely praying for you! I mean, living through COVID and racial unrests as a special needs parents is as devastating as if you were to live through a catastrophic earthquake. I seriously have to admit that people need to be aware and respect Disability Rights, especially during these trying times of pandemic.
I’m praying for you. We have two children on the spectrum. One adult, one child. But I keep praying and drinking iced coffee 🧋🧋.... lol. Try Amazon for the Melatonin. I found some there when Walmart was out.
I feel you. Mine is high functioning and has begun talking to himself and acting out. Plus work and my other 2 kids. Plus I lack a support system. The people around me are so judgemental.
I have two special need grandkids.. I have disability issues too. I had a surgery that got cancelled that would of fixed a breathing problem. I know as long as we do our best with protecting our selves . we will make it.
Greetings from NYC, You guys are doing well giving the circumstance. I though: How to get Home Care Assistance so that the Care Givers can rest for couple of hours
If that is what you heard from this story, I will refer to you as an idiot. That's not what this says nor what we think of our special needs children. But for all the people that are NOT isolating as much as possible, they are the burden - to society - and they are the reason these children suffer longer needlessly.
I mean we parents take alot on with these children. My sons are autistic and have no understanding why their schedule cant be followed. Amongst the other things i have to deal with.
Word. My son's is autistic and his school is a joke. They sent home a non strategies packet, the speech therapist doesn't even try to work with me. Lawsuits are coming! Someone has to fight for these kids and their IEPS
Candace Weatherlow I don’t understand like what are you suing, this was to protect your children. The problem is you the parents unfortunately producing defective kids and heavenly depending on the the rest of us “normal” society to provide “respite” care for your defects. We have to deal with our kids you guys deal too. This children are a burden to both the guardian/parents and society. Even us had to deal with canceled surgery, therapy and schedule.
Candace Weatherlow you just mad about the truth. The defective offspring are a burden to the producers. That is why you guys are struggling. Oh by way it gets worse as they get older and you remain the only care giver
We have two in the spectrum. This hit me really hard tonight. The stress of being cooped up at home is getting to all of us. One of my kids has Pica (the impulse to mouth or ingest stuff). He's even told me he promises to "stop his bad habit" if we let him come to the store with us. No can do, little guy. I'm so sorry. Mommy just can't let you in the store. 😔
This going to sound like something I'm sure you've heard a million times, but there are coping strategies out there for anxiety that can be utilized at home. Grabbing an ice cube let it melt in your hand, hand wash the dishes, go for a short walk. I'm praying for your family, keep your head up
Hang in there, Mom. I know it's hard. It's really hard. Sending you virtual hugs since they are virus free. My son on the spectrum says he's fine every day but his stimming has increased a lot. The anxiety and stress are getting to all of us. 😔
I feel bad for the kids who are quarantined with abusive parents.
Thank you 😢

The way he holds onto his momma with a smile at 4:32 - 4:39, that's just the sweetest thing.
I have non-verbal autistic children and they have suffered through the flu the entire last month🤦🏾♀️
Prayers up for you and the babies 😘

Children should never be referred to as a burden.

God bless this the parents they are very amazing needs more people like them
AMEN!!!!
I am a single parent and have a special needs sons thats 5 and i got a warrant for arrest for missing court sick with covid-19 and my son too. Omg
That’s totally not a humane thing for them to do. What were they thinking?
Special Ed. children can also have parental nurturing during covid 19.
This story was so important to tell.
The video is very interesting. I read about it in the book '' Mental health issues in the pandemic'' by Arthur Hill and Oswald Howard at Amazon
