How long does it take for a layer of sediment to solidify into rock? Could any of the layers get eliminated before they solidify and thereby throw off the year count? A Friday crucifixion does not allow 3 days and 3 nights for Christ to be in the tomb. A Wednesday crucifixion would allow the 3 days and 3 nights, but we have no real way of knowing when the day of Passover was in the years prior to AD 70. The Jewish calendar today is based on mathematics with each month having a fixed number of days with leap months being added on a set schedule in order to keep Passover in the spring. Prior to this the calendar was based on observation. A new month began with ever new moon. After 12 consecutive months the Israelite Priests would examine the barley crop. If the crop was ripe, then Passover would be the next month, and a leap month was added if the crop wasn't ripe. The mathematical calendar has a Friday Passover in AD 33, and a Wednesday Passover in AD 30, but we have no guarantee that the mathematical calendar was used at the time.
The crucifixion was on Friday March 20, 33AD. 'Earthquake' is a title of the head of the Eggyptian Theraputes, used as part of their Exodus symbolism, & also because their leaders were in power at the time of the earthquake in 31BC. The title was used by both Theudas and Apollos. The term 'Earthquake' also appears at the time the Chief Therapute was undergoing a change of location or doctrine. The earthquake in Qumran in 31BC had led to a major relocation and change of affiliation, which affected the Therapeutes in particular. The 'earthquake' at the crucifixion was Theudas.
soil core samples should be taken and archived, also reassessed for chronological calibration. 1945 is a good calibration layer because of the 3 atomic bomb explosions. and counting the spring pollen layer, a very good estimate or even an exact estimate can be made if all the layers are sufficiently distinct. if the 33 ad layer is found from the datum of 1945 nuclear explosions and the 31 bc earthquake, and even perhaps the 79 vesuvius eruption, plus other additional reference layers, the 33 ad stratum can be determined. it will be interesting to find out what sediment layer was deposited on the 33 ad layer, volcanic or just dust storm layer?
