How to match skin tone 👩 using color sample tool in photoshop 2022

1. Color Sampler Tool (Eyedropper with bull's eye) in the left tool bar
2. sample a skin color in the ref (bull's eye 1)
3. target skin on working photo (bull's eye 2)
4. info compares the rgb of two colors 1 and 2
5. in the bottom right, go to "create new fill or adjustment layer" (circle with half black and half white) > curves > button with pointing hand (click and drag in image to modify the curve)
6. hold shift + ctrl + click bull's eye 1
7. drop down menu RBG > red
8. match the red value in bull's eye 2, do this for green and blue

This is similar to how we did it when color correcting school photos. We’d have 4 or 5 reference photos for different skin types. Pick the closest one then pick 3 points on the face to match - forehead check and chin. Color correct by number using curves. Works brilliantly

So after scrolling down from "RGB" and selecting red- on your screen, the output automatically populates; however, mine does not. I have to move the curve for the output to populate, but this throws the colors off. What am I doing wrong?

Why does this work? What I understand is that you’re adjusting the curve of the RBG of the sample image to be the RGB of the target image.

In the latest PS 2024 25.3.1, you need to follow these steps to make it real:
1.Using the color sample tool to capture the color from sample(no.1) and target(no.2)
2. Remembering the value of no.1 on the info panel , It's really important.
3. adding a curve adjustment layer and holding the cmd+shift keys (macos) to focus on the target of no.2.
4. adjusting the red channel with output value from sample(no.1)
5. Repeating it again and again with green, blue channel.
6. You will get the image the same skin tune of no.1.
