That loop is great! When I was 10 years old (half a century ago🤣) we made button loops, but we had several strands of the thread and did a blanket stitch across the length of the thread. Your idea is so much faster.
😁😁😁 But I'll tell you something. If I'm going to make button loops I'd do it your way. They're stronger. When I sew hook and eye, I usually make your loops! Cheers 😉
I was taught the same technique with thread and blanket stitch. I like to use embroidery thread as it is thicker. It also is a different look for garment.
French seams are more comfortable than seams done on a serger. I had a kid that could not tolerate anything rough in his clothes so if I made something for him I would use french seams.
I'm one of those kids grown up. I find polyester threads are really rough compared to the fabric around them, and it takes them forever to soften up if they ever do.

Those are all great tips and I am glad to have seen them. I am a beginner sewer and is having trouble with my Singer 2277 Tradition machine. I have not been able to stitch anything yet and is having trouble sewing a sample piece and can't find out how to correct the mistake I am making.

the Best trick for those very thick ..8 layer Jeans hems: Use a "Microtex" Needle...has a very sharp point to go through more easily! :D ...go slowly, be sure to Increase the pressure foot Pressure to help flatten the layers together...
Chain stitch belt loops are a factory/ shipping thing to keep a belt with a dress. You’re supposed to cut them off before you wear the dress. People are seeing those and wondering why those are still there.
Yes. I feel you. But I'd like to tell you something. I have an alteration shop and my customers ask me to remove or to sew on these loops at the same rate. Some hate it and some find that the belt wander too much without it. As fashion designer opened to trends I see this as a language with different dialects. I don't allow myself to judge... well, most of the time 😉😁

Lol..all of them,and that entire video....I think you just have a good machine....I was asking "for the machine to feed the material into itself so well,did you have to adjust something....but I think it's just your machine........I've taken mine apart and out part of anyhow spring to try and make mine press more on the fabric,but mine still is not cooperating with me...thank you for your response
@@wardpottar9375 Yes. My machine is very good. Anyways, I think you could check the feed dog on your machine. Sometimes you need to replace them and/or adjust the height so they can feed the material properly. Good luck 😉
You don't need to preserve the original hem. After you sew a new hem, you can use coarse sandpaper to distress the edge. Make sure to get actual jeans thread for the hem.
Already done everything before except the iron. I haven't bought that kind of iron? I am using bottle spray and regular iron. I do alteration and sewing at my home. Does that iron make difference at the process? Is that electric? In here, most laundry using steam iron using gas, not electric.
Yes. The industrial iron use gas. But mine is semi industrial and uses electricity. The finish is better and the best part is that very unlikely to burn your fabrics. Cheers!
Thank you for the replay. I have been browsing some electric steam iron and they using high wattage for some months. The price is affordable, but my house's electricity cannot cover it. I have to upgrade it first. I would love to have the juki machine too. Haha, I have few old sewing machine, serger machines and neci. It works for now. I've been using steam iron at shool before.

Thank you so much Diane!! That's so kind of you! It's a little tricky to explain because it has to do with trial and error. However, you have to check first if it's a chain stitch, and then if it is, the easiest way is to remove 2-3 stitches in the side that looks straight (as opposed to the one that looks like a chain stitch), and that will open the loop and you can just pull. If that doesn't work, then maybe try to pull it in the opposite side because the chain only opens in one direction.

To build your thread collection, watch for estate sales. Grandma tends to leave behind a LOT of sewing supplies and you can get some great deals

To go over the seam more easily put a flat button under the foot this allows the foot to pass over the seam with no problem
