I just tried it with an Amazon replacement FOB and some of the buttons work but I believe the trunk does not work. I remember seeing a video at some point and someone explained what to do to fix that. Can't find the video now. Anyway, thanks for the video and all your advice to all of us on the forums. Your help is much appreciated.
2008 ZHZ Coupe bought used with only 1 FOB - Bought a FOB from Ebay and followed your directions and they worked well. Now I have a second FOB which is a #3. I see no advantage for me to reprogram so I have a #1 & #2 FOB's.
Just as a warning...This procedure does not seem to work on my 2013. It says the 5 turn hatch key will do it. But, when I looked in my HELM service manual, a scan tool is needed. If you have a later model, this may be the only way to add or change around the rfk's.
Froggy. Great video. These fobs are getting hard to find. I am sure you have seen that these things are all over Amazon. Are you aware if the Amazon fobs work with the C6 Corvettes?
Can I replace the #1 fob by cycling through the fob numbers on the DIC? I bought the vette used with the #2 fob only. I bought a new #1 from Chevy dealer and I want to program the new fob as #1.
I am not sure, good question. Remember these fobs end up being identical as to their function unless/until you start programming them to match a specific driver's desires. If there are two drivers and YOU want to be the driver with the #1 engraved on the bottom then you will have to play around (sounds like you are trying to pass thru the already programmed memories from #2 to #1. Or (simpler) just start using #1 once it's active & set it to what you want. Let driver with fob #2 do likewise. My #2 is my spare & I don't care what is memorized on it. Post back what you do, thanks. :)
I programmed my new #1 fob like your video illustrated. My Vette's DIC indicated fob #3 as the next programmable fob. After programming my new fob, tried using it as #1 for seat and mirror memory, nothing happened when I pressed the unlock button. I had to manually press the #1 driver's button on the door to activate the memory recall. I didn't try to cycle past #3 on the DIC because I wasn't sure it would come back to #1 or stop at #4 (the maximum number of fobs you can program). So my new #1 fob is really just a #3 fob. Still like to know if I can cycle my DIC selection around to #1 or will the choices stop at #4? I'm too chicken to experiment and find out I'm maxed-out on fob choices.
The owner's manual says it stops at #4. I did not go past 2 myself. If the car buttons marked #1 work with fob marked #2, personally I would just take a paint marker or dremel and change the fob # & call it good. Other wise it gets confusing (for me) and I don't have the need or patience to try and switch them. :)
Quick question, and you may have mentioned it but what year is yours ? And if I'm not mistaken yours is a 60 th anniversary from the back cross flags badge. As you can see from the picture on this message I sent I believe mine is identical to yours.

Tracy Walker I think you are not turning the key far enough on this process. I had serious issues when i just tried it, then i turned the key as far as I could each time. Seemed excessive, but it worked first time I tried turning it that way. I’m not saying break your key off, but you really have to turn it further than to just open the hatch. I hope this helps, I thought about your post soon as I failed the 3rd attempt and thought...oh no. Lol but after turning it as far as the key would go, it worked.
Tracy Walker You are very welcome. I was worried about that when I installed my back up cam. I have mine in front of the trunk button. It kinda sticks out, but I could not think of any place else to install the type I have. (Cheap one off of Amazon). I have it a little easier though, my 05 has a full key instead of the key in the fob. Makes it a lot easier to get a good turn for the hatch release. I recently bought a newer style Fob, had to modify my key to fit into it, but that has me thinking. If you get a regular style key, you might be able to turn that. That is if you have the newer style fob. With the newer key fob “key”, its very hard to get a full turn,opposed to my OEM key that is a standard type key. Anyway sorry I couldn’t help, I I hope you have a great weekend!

I've tried the key turn 1000's times. It's not working. I'm sad. I paid $118 for a new key on amazon

Turned mine so hard that the key started to bend. Still doesn't work
I keep twisting my key and nothing happens nothing on the dlc
Try the twists again as suggested, took me 3x before it worked, must follow each step specifically.

froggy i did tried it 15x last night my key though to open the trunk is not part of the keyfob its it own independent key
What year is the car?

You need to go to the owner's manual for that year, mine's a 2013, could very likely be different. Post back how it goes.
