I hope you all enjoyed this version of katsudon! I made a healthier tonkatsu before but I know some of you guys wanted to see the normal fried version - are there any other fried foods you guys would like to see?
Do I love japanese food that's not sushi or sashimi? I do. Do I make any of these recipes? I Don't. Do I watch it just because Champ's energy is awesome and he deserves all the best in the world for these videos? Hell yeah I do!
I'm always excited to see what Champ is cooking and every dish always looks amazing. My partner and I have tried a few out like the Karaage and they are so delicious. Will definitely be trying this one soon too :)
The fried onions is a great idea! I mean, the breadcrumbs, the flour, the egg, and the oil is already there!! Thank you, Champ! This one is a knock out!!
I love how this glorious champ just showed up out of the blue to bring us recipes like a messiah of Japanese cuisine. You're my new favourite chef on TH-cam Ryosuke, keep up the awesome work!
One of the small Japanese restaurants in my city offers katsudon with sauce, I didn’t know that there are different versions other than onion and egg….very interesting …. It was very delicious
This has become a family favorite for us, and my kiddo enjoys taking it in a bento box for lunch. I just don't coat in sauce initially, I send sauce on the side. This way it stays crispy and sauce can be drizzled before eating.
I came here when I saw your comment on Alvin's version of YOI pork katsudon and that fun tidbit about katsudon being closely associated with detective drama. Anyone who shares those kind of fun stuff deserves a kudos from me!
I lived in Japan for 7 years (Tokyo area, mainly Chiba prefecture) and I think this is the first time I've seen sauce katsudon. Looks great! Somehow I like the cabbage the most, even though I'm not a healthy person.
I've seen pork katsudon before, and I have lightly fried some veggies like broccoli before myself (with a little bit of a batter) - I have never seen frying onions like that before though! I really wanna/gotta try that now! I'm really feeling inspired - of course, _for some reason,_ I'm watching this at 2:30AM in the morning now and can't do anything until tomorrow's dinner though :P Still, I can't wait to try this. Seems interesting, and looks delicious. :)
Love your videos, Champ! I recently got into cooking and am always looking for inspiration now :) Gonna try some of your recipes too instead of just looking at them hungrily!
Thank you! I learned the Beef Don from your channel due to how-easy it is to understand, and how little ingredient it needs. I am going to try this! I'd love to see how to make more easy dishes. Why do frying need grapeseed oil instead of olive?
Thanks for this Champ! I was trying to figure out what to make for supper, and guess what? This is it! I have everything at home. Can't wait! Update: Wow this is good! Thanks Champ! 😋
This is definitely a dish I have not heard of before, but I certainly will be looking into making it soon. And as for dish ideas, Ryosuke-san, how about doing a healthy version of napolitan or kabayakii? Maybe a healthier kaisendon or even a healthier, more substantial yudofu?
I'm usually not a fan of fried food because too much grease turns me off, but those Pork cutlets are gorgeous. That light golden color and the texture from the video alone is tantalizing.
If you like pork and how this looks check out his healthier version of Tonkatsu video, it's pan seared in just a bit of oil to get the color and then finished by baking in the oven, it's become my go-to way of making tonkatsu because it's a healthier version of a food I make at least 3 times a month.
Nice, I've tried traditional Katsudon but sadly the egg and my stomach don't agree (pretty much any egg dish causes me horrible stomach pain..I can use it in batters just fine though) so I usually leave the egg off of my katsudon. This is a nice little addition to food I can cook on top of the healthier tonkatsu you showed, which I am a fan of and have made it my go to way of making tonkatsu.
Chicken karaage / karaage don definitely comes to mind, but I'm also wondering how my local Japanese restaurant makes their eel for unagi don... It's so sweet and soft, the perfect barbecue food! I need to know how it's done! haha
oooh gonna have to try to make a karaage don myself this week..I haven't made karaage in awhile. I wish I had a good Japanese place but where I live there's only like..two places and they are both teppanyaki or hibachi places, I have to head much further toward the big city to get to a different kind of Japanese restaurant...we're talking an hour to and an hour back minimum..IF interstate traffic is good.
I wasn't sure at first the sauce would taste good because of the ingredients and quantity. Finally me and me wife give it a 10/10! Thanks for the good vidéo.
Thanks for the recipe. I found everything I needed in my local supermarket in germany and cooked it today. 😁 But the panko coating did not stick as nicely on the meat then in your video. I guess I need more practice. And the Tonkatsu Sauce is just delicious and so quickly made. And the onions give it a nice twist. Arigato Gozaimasu! 😇
Champ-- Don't tempt me-- I /will/ make that unhealthier tonkatsu and love every moment of it! Though I will say, this has become my favourite way to make/eat cabbage
I would say try making the katsu the same way you might do a Shake'n'Bake, but also maybe toast the breadcrumb first before adding to make sure they are golden brown. I was about to come here to suggest an air fryer instead of shallow pan fry, but I think maybe not everyone has access to an air fryer the same way they might an oven.
I love how to try to make it sound healthy 😂 yeah you got onion but it’s fried…. But I’m going to make this tonight so thanks for the recipe. One of the most clear chefs on TH-cam 👍
Looks delicious! I’ll definitely be giving this one a go! Also, I know plenty of people here in England who can’t even pronounce Worcestershire correctly so good job that 😂
The legend returns!
Next up: Do Fried Chicken.
You're just saying this because there's a fried chicken shortage in marts and you're not getting your daily quota, aren't you?
He did it I think
Hands down, Karaage please.
I hope you all enjoyed this version of katsudon! I made a healthier tonkatsu before but I know some of you guys wanted to see the normal fried version - are there any other fried foods you guys would like to see?
Can you make menchi katsu? 💜
カレーパン please!
Champ's Japanese Kitchen you're the best 😋🤤👍👏👌
Omurice 🤤
Loving this channel, can't wait to see your next video. Thank you for your hard work.
Do I love japanese food that's not sushi or sashimi? I do. Do I make any of these recipes? I Don't. Do I watch it just because Champ's energy is awesome and he deserves all the best in the world for these videos? Hell yeah I do!
Dude I’m so glad you’re finding success on TH-cam. Your cooking and personality are both impeccable.
no such thing as sx or impx or etc
I'm barely saving money but this fits just enough in my budget that I try out your recipes every time I'm craving Japanese cuisine. Thanks, Champ!
man I'm pretty sure you'll succeed, he doesn't use fancy ingredients and for most they are easily replaceable! good luck mate.
Once again, Champs energy instantly improved my day.
Everything from his voice to his smile just radiates kindness. It's so enjoyable!
wrr, otherx or not doens tmatter
I'm always excited to see what Champ is cooking and every dish always looks amazing. My partner and I have tried a few out like the Karaage and they are so delicious. Will definitely be trying this one soon too :)
Indeed, his healthier Tonkatsu is ace.

I love the emphasis on keeping things healthy while not compromising on the spirit of the dish!
To be fair, regular katsudon has onions that are simmered and not breaded & fried. The only thing healthier about this dish is the shredded cabbage.
You seem like the coolest dude. So happy, energetic, and silly. I really love the way you present your recipes, so easy to follow and so clear.

The fried onions is a great idea! I mean, the breadcrumbs, the flour, the egg, and the oil is already there!! Thank you, Champ! This one is a knock out!!
The skewer to fry the onion is such a good idea! First time I have seen it and I will be using it in my own cooking! Thanks for the video!
Your shredded cabbage is life goals! I try to cut mine thin, even with my sharp knives I feel like I would like mine thinner. I need to practice more!
Try a mandolin until you master your skills!
thank you for introducing Japanese cooking to the west and making it so fun and engaging as well!
Not only amazing cooking skills but a real CHAMP in pronouncing worcestershire sauce! Truly amazing! ;)
Omg, love it. I made a lot of times the non fryed tonkatsu and gydon. So yammie. I would love to see how you make a healthy omurice
Respect to any chef who just uses a massive sashimi knife for everything :P love it
I love how this glorious champ just showed up out of the blue to bring us recipes like a messiah of Japanese cuisine. You're my new favourite chef on TH-cam Ryosuke, keep up the awesome work!
Champ's channel is so wholesome i instantly get a better humour after watching it, thank you so much!

Looks just delicious, The onions was a surprise. I look forward to try and make this myself!! Thanks Champ!
I love your recipes, I am a heavy fan on asian cuisine, specially Japanese cuisine, thank you for taking your time to make this videos.
I love this channel. Cooking with the champ is always a winner!
Honestly my favorite channel rn. I stumbled into the first video right when I was getting into Japanese cooking, and it was a godsend. Thanks Ryosuke!
Hey champ im homeless in the usa and you're food helps me and 3 others god bless you.
Ryosuke you are amazing! You really make cooking look easy and fun! What kind of pots do you use? I like that it has removable handle's!
I love your healthy take on the traditional Japanese cuisine. Have you thought of writing a cookbook?
This is how I do it. I hadn't thought of the onions, I'll be doing that next!
I really like these videos; the energy, the recipes, the advice... Everything, really. Instant good mood! :)
Thanks for making these videos Champ! I would love to see how you would make ramen, Japanese curry rice, or onigiri!

I love both healthy and regular recipes!
I made this recipe today and it was amazingly good! Love the content!
Another winning dish from the champ
I love how you make Japanese recipes healthier 💪🏼 (but I prefer putting the tonkatsu in the oven, in order to make even healthier) 🇯🇵🇮🇹
The one with the egg, might be more tasty, but i would make this for myself since it is healthier. Good job Champ!
Thank you! I learned the Beef Don from your channel due to how-easy it is to understand, and how little ingredient it needs.
I am going to try this!
I'd love to see how to make more easy dishes.
Why do frying need grapeseed oil instead of olive?
You’re videos really are something else Champ! I can’t wait to make this recipe! Keep up the great work!
I was curious about how to make it so I wanted to know! I want to make it if I have time!

This was another great video and a great recipe.

I was actually thinking that unagi kabayaki might be a dish worth trying
Yeah! A new Champ's video!!
Looks so yummy! Thank you for sharing ☺️
I wasn't sure at first the sauce would taste good because of the ingredients and quantity. Finally me and me wife give it a 10/10! Thanks for the good vidéo.

Arigato Gozaimasu! 😇
You're amazing, bro, just keep going!
By the way, really want you to show a chanko-nabe recipe)

Is there a way to do this with a oven/air fryer?
I would say try making the katsu the same way you might do a Shake'n'Bake, but also maybe toast the breadcrumb first before adding to make sure they are golden brown.

Also, I know plenty of people here in England who can’t even pronounce Worcestershire correctly so good job that 😂
Hi champ, I have a question, every time I make tonkatsu, it falls apart in the oil when I flip it? Idk how to fix that?

Champ. Your sujihiki looks really beautiful! I love the ebony handle and the blonde horn ferrule.
I would love to see a video on how to make omelette rice with the brown sauce. Cause I usually make the ketchup omelette rice for my son at home ☺️
Yes! Sauce is the best part.
how about some sushi or ramen next! Love the videos!
